About
The 18-hole Glen Abbey Golf Club in Debary, FL is a semi-private golf course that opened in 1974. Designed by Dominic Palombo, Glen Abbey Golf Club measures 6661 yards from the longest tees and has a slope rating of 137 and a 72.9 USGA rating. The course features 3 sets of tees for different skill levels. The greens are bermuda grass and the fairways are winter rye.
The Glen Abbey course winds through gently rolling landscapes of sylvan splendor and a 60-acre body of water known as “No-Name” Lake. There are no parallel fairways and all fairways are tree-lined. Water comes into play on eight holes. There are 80 strategically placed bunkers. Crepe myrtle, elderberry and oleander plantings are an aesthetic addition to existing magnolia, oak and towering pines which frame most fairways.

Attempting to improve the course conditions
As a visitor to FL- I get there has been very little rain over the past month or more- and the grass is just germinating this time of year. It was good to see them watering the tees and fairways to improve the course conditions. I played at the more expensive Victoria Hills a few days prior to Glen Abby and did see ANY evidence of any watering going on there.
Desapointed players
The course layout is great. But it is in bad condition and so are the greens. It needs lot of work and maintenance. There are a lot of garbage everything where on the side of the cart pathétique. That is to bad.
Don't play this course
If you read most of the other comments, they say about what I am goiing to say.....At least 12 of the greens are unputtable as they are extremely rough and are covered in weeds. You can not judge break or speed as the weeds impact the ball to extremes. I don't care how cheap the rates are,,,if you can't putt you are not playing golf.
Greens
Course has a real nice layout, greens need a little TLC

Staff is kind and frendly, Thy also gave me a good explainaiton of how the greens were/feel.
Good Food Deals in the club house. People how play there have great considrate for teh course.

The greens’ are in horrible condition!
Decided to play this course with friends and we all agreed to never play this course again. Staff very friendly and top of the line but the greens need to be completely redone. The grass makes the ball jump and bump around, making it very hard to putt.
challenging fairsways
wow, 4 dog legs left, a good distance. Four dog legs right, and the perfect distance to make the turn, but have someone position (with golf cart) on the top of the bend, FYI able the hit the ball at unseen players. Glen Abby a fun course, if you want to practice on your draw and fade.
The greens are "Bump - Bump - Bump. Very difficult to putt on. They have cleaned up a lot of the course and removed a lot of the excess growth along the edges of the fairways. Still some problems with water in low lying areas.
Cheap course, bad greens.
I don’t need anything fancy, and this course is right on budget at $25 for 18 holes.
But the greens had no consistency. One of the groups i played through on even joked about practicing for the course by “Putting on a wood floor”. Lots of grassy lumps and bare spots on the greens.
I don’t need a perfect green, but some consistency would def improve the experience.
The staff are always friendly and super chill. One of the reasons I like this course is because of how casual the whole vibe is. It’s just a place that people go to swing a club and hang out. Maybe have a few beers and enjoy yourself. I’d love to see the conditions meet the friendly vibe of the staff.
Tight (90*) Dog Legs
Tight Dog legs, very interesting track. Needs a little TLC. Staff today 02/09/23 was super helps, explian wht the course was going through and the upcoming changes to the greens. money was off GOLF NOW was over the top, Try a walkin and get a better rate. ok enjoy and hit them straight.
Tee boxes were in better shape than other courses we play and its nice to see some grass in fairways!
Overbooked
Was told that 9 holes should take over 4 hours by the staff and regulars. Too many other options to go here.
