The 18-hole Glen Abbey Golf Club in Debary, FL is a semi-private golf course that opened in 1974. Designed by Dominic Palombo, Glen Abbey Golf Club measures 6661 yards from the longest tees and has a slope rating of 137 and a 72.9 USGA rating. The course features 3 sets of tees for different skill levels. The greens are bermuda grass and the fairways are winter rye.

The Glen Abbey course winds through gently rolling landscapes of sylvan splendor and a 60-acre body of water known as “No-Name” Lake. There are no parallel fairways and all fairways are tree-lined. Water comes into play on eight holes. There are 80 strategically placed bunkers. Crepe myrtle, elderberry and oleander plantings are an aesthetic addition to existing magnolia, oak and towering pines which frame most fairways.

The course was in good playable conditions, considering the hurricane going through it.

I did make a hole in one on the 14th hole.

I'm 88 years old and still hitting from the white tees.

Good layout, rough around the edges

Unfortunately I can only review the front 9. The back nine was closed due to flooding from hurricane Ian. I knew that and that was OK. I'm surprised in the lack of fairway grass. Even with all the rain, lots of sandy spots remain. Greens were uneven with patches of weeds. Interesting layout with some 90° dogleg par 4s. Bunker sands were good, but too many weeds around the edges. I was looking for a few new courses to bring some northern friends to. This won't be one of them.

The greens are much improved and if there was just a little mor rain I think the course would be very good. Not

overcrowded so pace was whatever suited you.
