Glen Abbey Golf Club
About
The 18-hole Glen Abbey Golf Club in Debary, FL is a semi-private golf course that opened in 1974. Designed by Dominic Palombo, Glen Abbey Golf Club measures 6661 yards from the longest tees and has a slope rating of 137 and a 72.9 USGA rating. The course features 3 sets of tees for different skill levels. The greens are bermuda grass and the fairways are winter rye.
The Glen Abbey course winds through gently rolling landscapes of sylvan splendor and a 60-acre body of water known as “No-Name” Lake. There are no parallel fairways and all fairways are tree-lined. Water comes into play on eight holes. There are 80 strategically placed bunkers. Crepe myrtle, elderberry and oleander plantings are an aesthetic addition to existing magnolia, oak and towering pines which frame most fairways.

Hole #12, 150 yard par-3 over water Photo submitted by ShragMagtite on 03/08/2019
The weather warmed up nicely and the sun was out so all in all it was a beautiful day. The course is coming around. The greens are the biggest problem now. They are definitely making every effort to improve them but Mother Nature does things at her own speed and it's hard to rush her. It is a very enjoyable round of golf at a very reasonable price. Ryan is still there working very hard at getting it up to snuff.
Mark this on off the list.
Had a good day with my brother. But all previous reviews I've read are spot on.
It appears from a distance to be a nice course. But once your on the course all expectations are dashed.
Fairways are like a cow pasture. There were a few decent fairway approaches but that was about it.. mole holes/ trails.. tee boxes were basically nicely mowed rectangles..
Now the greens..... inconsistent patchy, don't count on your ball rolling the line you putt.. a 3 at best out of 10.
But last of all the cart patches SUCK!
The course is being worked on and improvements are being made A new member of the staff - Ryan - is doing
an unbelievable job of cleaning up and cleaning out
the entire course of over growth, dead trees and removing dead branches and palm fronds. The difference is amazing. Good Job Ryan!
Glen abby
The tract was in pretty good shape enjoyed the challenge and will be back
Needs Help
Its a very old horse, most likely loved by locals. Greens, tee boxes, fairways all in bad shape. Time to put out to pasture, won't be back.
Fun
We had a blast, we are novice golfers and did 9 holes. Definitely worth the money if you are golfing for fun and not seriously.
Course features some challenge
There are some very scenic and challenging holes which make for exciting play. Greens do need some more attention with seeding.
Solid course. Good value.
Staff was super helpful and friendly. Holiday weekend, so we played pretty slow.
Greens are decent. A little patchy in places, but not awful. The whole course is pretty low lying, so it's generally squishy/wet on fairways and greens.
Set a new best 18 hole score, so this course ranks high on my list at the moment. Ha.
Needs work - help is on the way.
The greens are terrible. They are being worked on but right now they are terrible. They are working on cleaning up the course -getting rid of old dead tress and brush and seemingly doing a great job of it. In time, this should be an interesting course to play.
Very enjoyable
First I thought to write a really bad review to keep this little gem of a course from being run over by the crowd. But that would be unfair. After a few hectic and unpleasant rounds of golf on crowded courses on our ten day vacation here in FL, Glen Abbey was a great pleasure to play. From the relaxed friendliness of the staff, the lack of red tape to the layout of the fairways, everything was enjoyable. Of course there is room for improvement: The greens could use a little TLC, the fairways are currently dry (Yeah, that is nature), the carts could be electric and the restaurant could use a Michelin-Star chef, and so on. But what a nice course this is overall. We will come again, that's for sure.
Great staff
Great restaurants but poor maintenance of the course got stuck twice during the game water residual in the course. poor drained .
Glen Abbey
A low end course at a cheap price. No complaint about that. The reason I can not come back soon: No mask on the club house lady, otherwise a nice lady, and two older gentlemen also inside the pro sho shop with no mask. Being in the high risk group for COVID I must follow the advice of doctors and stay out of this place.
Too bad. I had a good round and an otherwise enjoyable day.
Off Road
Horrible Tee boxes, fairways are so-so. Terrain around the greens is ridiculous. Would be easier to play in a cow pasture. Spend a few more $$ and play on the west side of 17&92!!!!
Needs some love
For a high handicapper this course isn’t bad for the fee - really interesting layout, but course conditions are suspect.
Another enjoyable afternoon out doors
The course was quite busy but the faster players went ahead and we passed the slower ones. Everyone seemed to be enjoying themselves and was very friendly. The course was pretty dry and except for the wind it was a great round. I'll have to play this course again - soon.
The course is mostly in pretty good shape. There are still a few places that haven't dried out and there are a couple places where they are working on the course. The weather was a factor again - cool and windy. A wind breaker jacket was the item of the day to wear. I had a good time and enjoyed myself. Got some fresh air and a little exercise. All in all it has been a good day.
