Glen Abbey Golf Club

About
The 18-hole Glen Abbey Golf Club in Debary, FL is a semi-private golf course that opened in 1974. Designed by Dominic Palombo, Glen Abbey Golf Club measures 6661 yards from the longest tees and has a slope rating of 137 and a 72.9 USGA rating. The course features 3 sets of tees for different skill levels. The greens are bermuda grass and the fairways are winter rye.
The Glen Abbey course winds through gently rolling landscapes of sylvan splendor and a 60-acre body of water known as “No-Name” Lake. There are no parallel fairways and all fairways are tree-lined. Water comes into play on eight holes. There are 80 strategically placed bunkers. Crepe myrtle, elderberry and oleander plantings are an aesthetic addition to existing magnolia, oak and towering pines which frame most fairways.

Hole #12, 150 yard par-3 over water Photo submitted by ShragMagtite on 03/08/2019
Good value for the money
Course was overall in good shape. There were some bare spots on the fairways, but nothing major.
Friendly staff, and pace of play was excellent!
Priced right
Course needs a lot of maintenance but the price is right if you have a discount like hot deal
We played 3 groups behind 4 young men who should have been on a practice range instead of a course
No ranger on the course to speed them up
On more than 1 hole all 3 groups had to wait
Finally got past them on the 12 hole.
Ok if inexpensive
This course could use a major overhaul. Fairways are in poor condition with many bare spots. Greens are also in poor condition with dead spots. The areas that are healthy are great but too many unhealthy areas to justify paying much to play here. Concrete on cart paths is broken up, where concrete paths end there are drop offs and ruts to give you a good jostle if not creeping along, also there is no water provided on the course. This could be an excellent course if it were brought back into the proper condition.
Price was right
Hot deal thru golf now, value for the money, if you are looking for a resort course go somewhere else.
This course is not special in any regards but paid less than $25 , got what I paid for. The pro shop staff was very friendly and allowed me to tee off early as there was openings.
I will play it again
Good for high handicappers
Good price for a Saturday. Play was a little slow but bearable. Layout was nice but needs some work—a few greens had patches of no grass, same with fairway, but overall a great day for us high 90s/100s players. Better golfers would probably be frustrated. Last note, there was no drinking water or cart girl entire time we were there.
Municipal Golf in Florida
The staff was very friendly and nice. The course was average , the back nine was very challenging.
Nice layout. Fair price for conditions offered. Staff very friendly. Would play again.
Relaxed
Relaxed pace. No one rushing you. A few greens are in need of repair.
Back nine is best
The course certainly was a bit rough but not terrible. We just rolled the ball a few feet when the grass became sparse. The greens were so+so but they rolled fast and fairly true. The lady in the clubhouse is super friendly, so that was a good start. The front nine was pretty traditional golf but we really enjoyed the back nine. Fun holes and some good elevation changes. You cannot beat the price of the round. And their drinks in the bar and REALLY cheap. Good experience - just don't play this if you want pristine conditions. We will be back at that price.
Nice layout but course in poor condition
Greens I'm really bad condition. Layout not bad but course condition the worse I seen.
Alot of work in progress,esp.#2.Tee boxes need more grass.Greens are improving somewhat.
This course needs some TLC
The tee boxes were all dug up,with divots. full of crab grass and bare in spots
The fairways were full of crab grass and bare spots
The bunkers had not been raked in a long time, they were hard as a rock and had crab grass growing in them
The greens were pretty much bald with some crab grass in them
The pace of play was painfully slow ( 4 3/4 hrs to play a round as a single )
The local golfers were not very friendly. I let a two sum and a single play thru and nobody asked me to join them ( as a golfer that plays in the high eights to low nineties, I am not holding anybody up )
The track it's self was great, it just needs some maintenance
