February golf
The course was very good condition, considering it was the middle of February.
Can't wait to come back in the summer!
Fun course in Somerset County. I can see this being a difficult course if you find a lot of bunkers off the tees but fair if you can find fairways. Some tricky greens, too. I played this course in extremely cold weather ( low 30s) with some snow on the ground following weekend storm, but I had a ton of fun. Can't wait to play again in the Spring and Summer. Highlight of the round: saw two gorgeous bald eagles fly by after I hit a monster drive! 'Merica!
Royce Brook West
Playing golf on January 2 in the northeast is always a bonus, and while the course was understandably wet, the general conditions were very good and the greens were as good as you could possibly expect. Well worth the money.
Played All 36
West is the private course and East is open to public play. The west course is the signature, longer and more difficult of the two courses there. West also has much more bunkering than the east.
Cold Day at Royce Brook
Cold snowy morning - had a frost delay (to be expected) Staff was friendly and accommodating until we started..keeping us posted along the way and letting us sit in the banquet area and opening for food/drink.... Course was lovely...We will be back..Thanks..
Lot of potential
Layout very nice, bunkers couldn’t be in worse condition, and the bunkers are the strength of the course.
Above average course but not worth what they charge
Had one of the first tee times of the day. Got there 15 minutes before tee time and no workers arrived until 20 minutes after our scheduled tee time. Others were arriving in the parking lot as well.
Once a worker did arrive, we were told that for the last week they weren't opening the course until 9:30-10 due to frost. They really need to stop accepting early tee times later in the year and have their workers arrive earlier. I have played here in the summer with the first tee time and the same thing happened where no workers showed up until 20 minutes after tee time. In both instances they just started sending groups out as fast as possible.
Tee boxes, fairway, rough, and greens were all in above average or even excellent shape. Bunkers were in terrible shape filled with water for most or hard if not. Hasn't rained in over a week.
Overall, they had tee times available but if you have other options you may want to look into those other options. Course is fun and good shape except the bunkers. The tavern had many drink options, wait staff was nice and quick, and food was decent.
