Neshanic Valley Golf Course - Meadow/Ridge Course
About
Neshanic Valley Golf Course is a 27-hole layout that was designed by the renowned team of Michael Hurdzan and Dana Fry. The course is divided into three nines that can be played in different 18-hole combinations. The nines -- the Lake, Ridge, and Meadow -- are named after the different features of the varied terrain but each par-36 nine has five different sets of tees, which provides playing options for all skill levels. On the Meadow/Ridge Course you'll find ample fescue along the fairways and greens. The greens are especially tricky since not only are they framed by massive bunkers, the putting surfaces are also contoured. Though the slopes are subtle, they can be very tricky. There is a pond on the front nine and environmentally sensitive wetlands come into play throughout.

Okay overall.
The greens were just aerated and very difficult to putt. There was no beverage, and alcoholic beverages were only allowed to be consumed at the bar in the clubhouse,
I would recommend this course, but not with the current condition of the greens.
Notice aeration
There was an aeration on Thursday, and a large holes and sands were covered on the green, but Golf Now didn't notice it.
Great as always
Played between rain storms. 2.5 hours. Barely anyone there. NOT cart path only because they have the best drainage system in the world. Fantastic shape. Please don’t go…it will make it harder for me to get a tee time!!!!!
Expensive but a good course
Neshanic is a well-maintained County course. It is expensive for out of county players, but the course conditions, difficulty, and quality of the course are comparable to a private club. The course was in good condition. The fescue is tall and it is difficult to find your ball if you hit into it. Overall, if cost is not a principal consideration, the course is worth playing. It is competitive with other course of this quality in the area.
Beautiful course
Beautiful course. 27 holes. Went 3 times and absolutely loved it each time. Will go again. One of the starters (young guy with beard) is awesome; couple of of the older staff members can probably improve their friendliness to be equal to all and much better.
It’s pricey but a fantastic course!
Amazing
Course is great, no wonder why it’s perennial top 5 public course in NJ.
Nice layout very slow greens
The course was nice and pace of play was great too. the green speeds were way too slow though, felt like i was putting on a fairway
thank you
It's been a tough weather year for maintaining golf courses. So, THANK YOU to the Neshanic Valley grounds keepers - for doing such a wonderful job on the course. Tee boxes were excellent, greens and fairways were wonderful to play off of. This was my first time here - thanks for the signage. Love the challenging course.and conditions.
Great fairways and Greens
Played Ridge/Lake, first time at Neshanic Valley this year. Tough to get a tee time as a non-resident now, so when an 8:12 on Saturday popped up, grabbed it. Always loved playing these courses when I was a Somerset County resident.
Course was in great condition, fairways were lush for this time of year, rough and fescue were fair from a penalty standpoint and greens were excellent and rolled true. Views are great. Played in 4:10 so pace was good
Great golf experience.
Well worth the drive. Challenging, scenic, well maintained course. Will repeat.
One of the best county courses I’ve ever played. Challenging and fun design. Course is in amazing shape, especially for late season + a month of severe drought. Fairways are lush and greens are rolling. Highly recommend.
Out of my top 5 best public courses in NJ.
Played Ridge/Meadow course was in good shape even with drought condition. Fairways were good greens good (greens kind of like a Donald Ross green layout). Ridge/Meadow layout was decent, Fairly easy layout. I had this ranked in top 5 public courses in NJ. But after playing the other courses Neshanic drops out of top 5 maybe even out of top 10, just not as nice as the others or challenging. If you are a 7 hcp or less no reason why you shouldn't shoot par or under. Pace was ok staff not the best but decent. Not as nice as courses below, But still worth a play. See top 5 below for better courses.
