Hard pass
Won’t play again with the condition of the course. Dead and dying fairways with slow greens. $70. Crazy. Don’t do it.
Dry and lots of hard areas.
Was excited to play for first time. Looked nice coming in and putting practice area was nice. Course was disappointing though. Lots of brown, dry and hard pan areas. Bunkers hard, greens not well maintained with a ton of goose droppings. Pace was excellent however. Heard it used to be very nice?? Not sure I would play again.
Course in Rough Shape
This track has an awesome, challenging layout with plenty of undulation and mandatory accuracy, but the course conditions were rough to say the least. Not sure if it’s from overwatering or what, but the fairways were spotty and some of greens had some bald spots with plenty of bumps. I played only one other time years ago and really enjoyed it, but this time the course looked dry and rough.. I guess being in a drought doesn’t help at all..
Goose poop
This course would be amazing if they took care of the course a little bit more. Great layout but there’s way too much goose poop on the course. It’s everywhere. On the tee box, fairway and even on the green. I had to move my ball three or four times because there was goose poop between my ball and the hole.
Very Disappointing
I used to play Morgan Creek many times where it first opened and it was in great shape and well taken care of. played again yesterday, and the fairways and greens were in bad shape, a ton of wet/muddy spots along with weedy and dry spots. the place is overrun with Goose and duck poop and the bunkers either had standing water or were so hard pan that I also couldn't call them bunkers. I would not play that course again if it was free. There are just so many better courses around for the same or less money. :(
Reasonable Value
Morgan Creek is a challenging course with an interesting layout. There is nothing quite like it in the Sacramento area.
The downsides are that the pace of play can be glacial and the course is literally infested with geese. And, course conditions are a little ragged this year which may well be due to summer heat and watering conditions.
It is a course I will continue to play when I visit but I would sure like to see the end of the geese.
Confirmed that I won’t be back
Played here only because this was the last option available for the time we wanted to play. Never thought this course was worth the $70 they charge. Course has poor drainage, greens are beat up and create a bumpy roll. Rude marshal told us we had to rush to keep up with a 3sum ahead even though we were a 4sum playing at a 4hr 15 min pace which is standard for the course. Also the pro shop attendant got all bent sideways when asked if a couple rageballs were included in the rate which is the least they can do to somewhat try to justify their price for their course conditions. Not worth the price.
Not maintained
Course was not well maintained, broken equipment, holes are not numbered (not a big deal but strange). Course looks like it was beautiful in its prime and is surrounded by multi million dollar homes but unfortunately the course its self appears to have gone downhill. Course would be fine if green fees were significantly lower but there are far better surrounding courses for same price.
Morgan creek
Course was in pretty good condition. Some fairway sprinkler drainage issues and sand was pretty crunchy. Saw the cart girl or the 3rd hole and not again. Granted it was pretty hot out there and fewer golfers playing past noon.
Course Conditions
Course is probably in the best condition that it has been in for three years. Greens are a little soft, but makes for sticking your shots! Unfortunately you have your clowns on every course that don’t fix the ball marks, come on people it’s a difference of 10 days compared to a month or more for the ball marks to recover. Fix yours plus one, it’s called courtesy! Overall it is rivaling other really nice courses in the area. It is actually turning into one of my favorites because of the conditions of the course.
