#2 from the Blue Tees Photo submitted by u00000641784 on 12/28/2019
Nice layout, greens and traps need help.
Really liked the layout. Unfortunately, the greens don’t live up to the rest of the course. They were overwatered which led to the greens having problems with footprints and fungus. The traps all had standing water in them as well. Also, they let twosomes go out instead of joining them up. It really is a nice course, but for the cost they should rectify these issues.
Really Wet
The course was in pretty good condition. There has been an extended heat wave of close to 110 degrees for more than a week. There was standing water in the middle of most of the fairways, and the greens were saturated. The greens were so wet that every step left footprints all over the greens. It doesn’t look like the greens have been rolled in a very long time Also all of the greens are fuzzy and super slow probably running less than 8. The greens were so bad that it was one of my absolute worst days of putting ever. Once the ball left your putter you could watch the ball bounce up and down and left and right. Plus you have complete hackers not fixing their ball marks on the greens. There was twice that I had a 70 yard wedge shot and both time they ended up as fried eggs of more than half of the ball.
Soggy Mess
I do golf here and have been back. Pace of play is terrible and not enforced, most likely due to the way they stack tee times. As usual it was a soggy mess in most places, bunkers aren’t sand but a wet paste like mix. Only benefits of this place are you can usually squeeze two or more players in on short notice.
Poor condition compared to its prior years when it was one of the.best local courses and certainly the best greens.
Dan
Course was ok not outstanding in any way lots of moguls and dips. Had to be careful with the driving of the golf cart. Many fairways were experiencing burned out areas, not because they lacked moisture, I played from 1:00 on and finished around 5:00 and there were many moist areas still, even in the heat. I would find mud on my ball even when coming into some of the greens, they were really trying to keep up with the lushness. If there was any dissatisfaction it would be the extreme hillyness on several of the holes.
Very good track with challenging undulations and bunkering..very appealing to the eye!
my only criticism is the condition of some tee areas, many fairways and many approach areas with large areas of dirt areas or dead grass. This could be an excellent course, but when I played it in the winter it was very muddy and yesterday also many muddy areas with over watering, probably due to attempt to save the course from the intense heat that the area has sustained / the course has a serious drainage problem.
A mixed review but this course is worth playing if only for the topography, and I would be remiss not to mention the cordial and professional staff including the check-in, the restaurant/bar and the course Marshall.
Sketchy for price
I used to play here quite frequently, but stopped a few years ago because of unnecessarily below average conditions. I know they’re busier now and have raised their prices, so I thought I’d give it another try. It’s clear they’ve declined to put those new-found dollars into the course, especially the traps. Ridiculous.
Seen better days . . .
Got a hot deal, so I wasn't expecting it to be all that great, and my expectations were met. The tee boxes and fairways were in fair to poor shape and greens not much better. The entire course has a feeling of neglect. Now, it is the height of summer heat in the Sacramento area, so it's possible the seasonal conditions are causing some of the trouble. I'll be back to try again in the late fall, but for now, there are better choices in the area.
Worst value in the county
Titles says it all. Morgan Creek and their nearly $100 per round price tag, represents the worst value in the the county and surrounding areas of Sacramento. The tee boxes are a mess... the greens are horrendous... the bunkers do have sand, but none of the grass edges are trimmed. It is extremely apparent this course STILL has not recovered from the monsoons of 2016. I do not recommend anyone play here, unless the green fee is under $35.
