Deltona Club
About
The Deltona Club holds the distinction of being ranked as one of the top 20 public golf courses in Florida. The club has roots that date back to the late 1950s. It is a remake of one of the state's earliest planned communities. Bobby Weed redesigned the golf course, improving its aesthetic appeal and giving it more playability. The course sprawls across rolling hills that provide dramatic elevation changes throughout. It is a far cry from the many flat public courses that exist throughout Florida. The natural contours of the terrain helped determine the strategic placement of the numerous bunkers, many of which were added during Weed's renovation. The Deltona Club's parkland layout has an interesting mix of holes with some that even have the feel of a links course.

Pass on this one
No grass, no signage… and I mean none, no. All washers, no ranger, slo play… other than j that the course was great.(.
Desert golf - but not the good kind
I was extremely disappointed in the course conditions St. Patrick’s Day on what is one of my favorite layouts in Central Florida - the only thing that was green and resembles grass on the course are the greens (which were patchy on the front side and decent on the back side). In fact, everywhere else looked like a desert. You have to wonder if irrigation system is broken or if they just aren’t making enough money to turn them on? We ended up playing preferred lies, because the fairways were so baked and dry that we had to resort to lift clean and cheat after paying $45 per golfer.
If this course could invest in irrigation, fertilizer and tried a little harder this could be an absolute gem - right now it’s a diamond in it’s roughest form.
Course condition
I played this course pretty often. 1st time this year. I could not believe the horrible condition it was in. Very disappointing. Greens, fairways and tee boxes look like they haven't been taken cate of since last year.
Good muni
Course needs water bad. I don’t know if their irrigation has been down or they don’t have enough for entire course tee to green. Greens were ok a little slow but mostly healthy some poha in them but will burn up when weather heats up. Worth playing.
Not sure what's going on here...
I've played here a bunch over the years but it has been a while since I'd been out. Felt as though I was hitting off dirt most of the round, even in the fairway. They were only watering on the low part of the 7th hole. I didn't see a sprinkler anywhere else; this place needs water. Green complexes were the only thing keeping this from a 2-star rating. The pace of play was not great—two groups of 5 followed by a handful of singles. I skipped past the two groups and went back to play the other holes at the end. Please do some work on this place. It is a fun track when it is in good shape.
All sand and Brown grass
The whole course is sand based and what little grass was there was dead. I know we're in a dry spell right now but for early March the course is already burnt out.
Great layout
I have enjoyed playing this course for years and this is the absolute worst shape this course has been in. The fairways are not dormant, they are dead. The greens are slow and bumpy and barely alive. The leadership and owners of this course should be ashamed. Disappointed to say the least.
Sad Shape
If you like bare fairways and slow bumpy furry greens, this is your place. Love the layout but they need a course superintendent who knows how to properly care for a golf course.
worth checking out
It is a rough drive from my home to this course so I have not played it in many years...if you hate water and love sand this is your course...no water at all and more sand than I have ever seen on a golf course...big bunkers along fairways and deep holes near the greens...ground rolls a bit which is a nice change to most flat courses...went around in 3 1/2 hours which is not bad for this time of year...if you live within 45 minutes, this a worth trying
Course Needs Work
I love playing Deltona, but for the past month + the course has become run down. Greens and tee boxes in terrible shape.
What happened
I have been playing this course for at least 30 years on and off and still play it often. Golf has come back but it looks like a lot of golf courses are just not investing back into the course itself and this is one prime example of it. All aspects of this course are in bad shape. And the sad part is it doesn’t have to be that way.
Little dry
Fairways are in dire need of rain, not sprinkled so without rain they are short to no no grass in many areas. The greens were tolerable and in much better condition than the review saying they are full of sand. Layout is pretty good but for someone’s first time it would be nice to have more indication of where the next hole is and the layout of the hole you’re playing. All in all it is worth a chance outing. 👍🏻
Deltona Club is Poor (right now)
Courses go thru stretches of good/great to dust-pan poor due to weather, operations/money, whatever .......today the greens & fairways need some grass. I love the layout, and can hope course conditions improve back to the way Deltona was a few years back.
Spectacular layout
If this course had grass and better maintenance it would be one of the best in the area if not the best.
I know it's the dry season but . . .
Dry February has killed the greens. Poor fairways too. Looks like they haven't watered yet this year. Disappointed. I like the track, especially the back nine. I'll wait and try here again when the spring rains soak the course.
Disappointing
At one time it appears this might have been a challenging course with a well-designed layout and lots of sand to keep you honest. However, it was in sad shape when I played it. The greens were shaggy (about the length of a really nice fairway) and quite a few patches of sand. None of the bunkers were raked or maintained for that matter. We got through the front nine very quickly without anyone if front of us, then a dude in a pink polo appears out of nowhere and jumps right in front of us on the ninth tee box. He takes his sweet time playing the hole and then hurries to the tenth tee to stay in front of us. I was in disbelief that occurred when another twosome drive from the pro shop right up behind the pink shirt dude on the tenth tee to also cut in front of us on the back nine. There were no marshals or beverage cart on the course that day. So a very frustrating back 9. Front nine took 90 minutes to play. Back nine took two and a half hours.
