Deltona Club
About
The Deltona Club holds the distinction of being ranked as one of the top 20 public golf courses in Florida. The club has roots that date back to the late 1950s. It is a remake of one of the state's earliest planned communities. Bobby Weed redesigned the golf course, improving its aesthetic appeal and giving it more playability. The course sprawls across rolling hills that provide dramatic elevation changes throughout. It is a far cry from the many flat public courses that exist throughout Florida. The natural contours of the terrain helped determine the strategic placement of the numerous bunkers, many of which were added during Weed's renovation. The Deltona Club's parkland layout has an interesting mix of holes with some that even have the feel of a links course.

Underwhelming
The best part of the course was that there weren’t any cart restrictions 3 days after Ian. That’s where my compliments for this track end. Pace of play was 4:22 and felt like a century. Wasn’t that busy, just no one to make one pokey group pick it up. The greens are crusty and not as described in previous reviews. The rest of the course is thin. Poor pace of play makes everything deficiency more noticeable. Doubt I return.
Good course.
I like Deltona especially since the new greenskeeper took over. The fairways are getting better. I'm seeing the grounds crew paying more attention to areas around bunkers, cart paths, even the rough is looking better. The greens are improving greatly also. All in all, the course is coming along very nicely.
Good course
I really like Deltona. The course is getting better all the time. The greens are good and the fairways are getting much better. I believe the new groundskeeper is making a big difference. Even the driving range is improving.
Great Layout - Not great conditions
This course is probably one of my favorites in the Central Florida area. Every hole is unique, and challenging. The course conditions are not great, but not terrible. Several holes have thin fairways, and the rough and bunkers are not in great shape. The greens rolled true but a bit slow.
No rain check after 3 holes
We called the golf course and asked them course conditions. We were told it was clear dry and it was in great condition. When we got there we were told we were the first ones to go off. The course was wet muddy not only that but after three holes we got caught in a complete downpour. Went back to clubhouse to get a rain check for maybe tomorrow or next weekend. We were told no rain checks today!.
The course is usually a nice layout. I will never play here again based on how I was treated after paying top dollar for the day.
Course not well maintained
Course layout is good but not well maintained fairways and greens
Pretty layout, but…
Could’ve been a great, challenging course. But, first, the greens were like putting on Berber carpet. Horrible. The fairways were patchy, but there was actually grass in spots. Tons of weeds in the bunkers. Also, there is no course image on the scorecard, and no signs indicating where hole #1 is.
For the good stuff, there are some tough carries and good elevation changes. I like that.
Also, they sell Titleist Aussie hats in the pro shop for $30 including tax! That’s about 15$ under Amazon… that alone made playing The Club at Deltona worth it.
Good layout - rough around the edges
Interesting course layout. You have to pick and choose your clubs wisely to put yourself in position to score. Nice elevation changes, but not to the point of blind shots everywhere. Fun, but bunkers had no rakes and were lined with weeds. Some bunkers were grown over. Lots of the rough looks like it's never mowed. If you don't hit fairway, you can loose your ball in the weeds. Would have rated this higher except for that.
I love the course but...
This is my go-to course for last minute tee times. I love the layout. I love the workers there. In a nut shell, I lost 2 golf balls. Not unusual for a round of golf? Well, no water on the course - lost both in bunkers with weed growth. Ball was in there somewhere but I just could not find it. I did find two others though.
Fairways are like other course's rough. Greens are like putting on fly paper - sticky side up. It took a hour to play the first 2 holes but we finally past the "family" playing on 3 (a par 3) and the course was wide open after that. I felt sorry for the foursomes behind us.
It didn't make a difference. Course conditions were absolutely bad. I feel for the workers there - they do a great job but the course just doesn't have the maintenance needed to make it playable.
I'll check future reviews of the course to see if things improve before I book.
Been A While
It’s been a little while playing here. It was nice because no one in front or behind me. I went out as a single. It was a good way to verify the distance with my clubs. Most of the sand traps are in need of repair. If you don’t land in them, no issue, I guess. The fairways were okay and most of the greens were good. They ran a little slow. The staff were friendly and helpful. The pace of play was perfect. With no pushing, I finished in 2 hours. I’ll come back.
