Desert Springs Resort boasts two championship courses designed by Ted Robinson, the Palms and the Valley. The golf courses are known for their beautiful setting, offering unrivaled views of the Santa Rosa Mountains and the Coachella Valley. The Valley Course is considered the less challenging of the two, but both offer a stunning landscape covered with swaying palms and blue lagoons. The course features player-friendly fairways that beginners will enjoy, but there are also a fair amount of challenges. Like on the Palms Course, there is plenty of water. Between the two golf courses, more than 35 acres of water features come into play in the form of man-made lakes and streams. In addition to the two courses, Desert Springs also offers an 18-hole putting course, which offers all the same challenges as the other courses including bunkers, water hazards, and undulating fairways.

Marriott Golf experience

I found the signage to the golf shop difficult to find. Staff was not overly helpful. The course is beautiful but they are way over booked. We were waiting on every single tee box , fairway shot, approach shot. I quit after 9 as this was going to be a 5 1/2 hour round. I think this is very poor planning

Green problems

This course is fine, but the greens seem to have a problem of some kind. Not healthy. Otherwise the course was in great shape.

Fun course

The Valley is a fun course to play, the greens are not lush, actually they are barely grown in. Not sure why they can't get the greens up to snuff at this course. The fairways are great and the rough is a manageable height. I've played this course 6 times during my stay here in palm desert. The pace of play varies greatly. When it is busy it's SLOW (4hr 40 minute round) on a Sunday..

There's some tricky holes and it makes you think about where to place your shots. It's worth playing and the fees are reasonable as compared to 9ther courses.

A fun day in spite of the weather

I have not played here for a few years. The layout is very nice but we played the back nine in 35 mph winds which made it tough. My only criticism is that the greens were pretty dried out and could use some watering. Pace of play was excellent and the price was good for the Palm Springs area. I'll go back.

Slowwwww

Greens played a little slower than they used to play a couple weeks ago.

But.. After waiting 5 minutes for the group in front of us to tee off I put a stopwatch on all the time we had to wait between shots. We spent 2-1/2 hours just waiting to hit (conglomerate), over 5+ hours on the course. That's frustrating. We had to wait almost 15 minutes at par 3 holes. They has a super slow 5 some 2 groups ahead of us. You'd think for the price, they would do something to manage the pace of play. Still a gorgeous course though.

Beautiful course

Well maintained and beautiful course. Bad thing is that you can not get a help from staff. You have to take your own golf bag to walk long way. Staff are not friendly...

Disappointing

The green were terrible and the sand traps, almost unplayable. Staff acts like they could care less. Last time we played the course was in wonderful shape. Very unfortunate changes.

Poor Maintenance

The greens on the Valley Course were in mediocre shape, especially compared to other public courses in the Valley. But the sand traps were even worse. Devoid of much sand in many places, muddy, packed down by sprinkler water and not showing signs of any raking. The course conditions were not worth the $114 greens fees and were the poorest I've seen at the Desert Springs courses over the years I've played there.

Valley Course

I played with two friends that don't golf much so they played the white tees. I played the Blue and found it to be a nice challenge with risk and reward. The fairways were in great shape and everyone at the resort was helpfull.

Fun course!

We really enjoyed playing the valley course! It was in excellent condition! For me personally it was more playable than the other course. Not so much water. The pace of play was perfect. We never had to wait.

Not this year

Greens are in such bad condition. Played both courses and all the greens were grayish brown in color. Valley’s were bumpy and Palm’s were very slick and unfair. Bunkers need more sand and haven’t been fluffed up recently. Have played here many times over the past 10 years. Will not be playing there again this year. Rest of courses in Palm Desert have beautiful green lush greens.

We arrived an hour early and there were only a few balls left on the range. The starter said he couldn’t do anything to help because they did not have enough staff to pick the range. So after not being able to warm up with range balls, the round was very slow and no on course ranger to even help. We played behind a six some. Overall the experience was pretty poor. The course is good, but the management was poor at best. I will not be going back any time soon. Also the greens were the poorest we experienced.
