Saturday morning well spent

This was a good little course. The greens and fair ways were in good conditions and enjoyed the round with my mate. We teed off at 8am and there's was only us for a while.

Course amenities were poor, nothing open, not even at 12pm that was it's on downfall.

Just one slight other problem for new players is there is no indication of where the greens are from the tee.

Apart form that we really enjoyed it

Why is this course not mentioned at my local club

I played on my own on the way back after a holiday. Only 10 miles from my home course, I haven’t heard it be mentioned at the club and after 14 years living in the area I would like to see what Flint Golf Course was about. The first surprise was seeing the club in what must have been the grounds of a large (now apparently abandoned) mansion house. Having found the first tee the second surprise a par 3 over 200 yd with a small green set into the side of a hill across a valley and many feet below the tee. The green was exceptionally smooth and very fast. As I proceeded around each and every green was the same, smooth and fast, each hole a very good test. Up hill and down hill yes a hilly course overlooking the Dee Estuary with excellent views. Signage between tees could have been clearer but this is only a minor issue. Certainly worth £15 on line GN fee. I will be back.

Never again

Course not kept very well and when it came to the greens there was so much sand on them it was like putting in a bunker.

Crazy golf anyone?

What a strange little course. Make sure you take some rope and crampons with you as it’s quite a hike, you made also need some boiled sweets for your ears. The layout is quite confusing as the next hole isn’t sign posted and not all tee boxes are marked either so you can be playing the 8th, 17th or the 32nd, and the scorecard doesn’t give you any hints. Greens were firm and in good condition. Lots of blind holes with narrow fairways so plenty of hit and hope and lost balls. Rough is very thick even though it’s not long, fairways are not that short either…..speaking of fairways, first hole the fairway is over 45° so even if you manage to hit it, the ball rolls into the rough anyway. Some nice views of Flint if that’s possible, the flats looked nice in the sunset, on a clear day you can see Plymouth because you’re so high. I played at 6pm on a Sunday night and I was the only one on the course which was nice. Keep an eye out for ‘Jess’ the random sunbather on the 8th tee,

All in all, quite a challenge and wouldn’t recommend this course to anyone who has quads smaller than Roberto Carlos. On a serious note, for £10 a round it could be a laugh with your mates, don’t take the course too serious and enjoy it. A few signs to sort out where we need to go and it could be more enjoyable. I will be back though.

Take a look at my photo to show how high up this course get compared to the top of the flats in Flint flats 😂

Value for money option

Only a 9 hole, but the holes are built as per a standard 18 hole course (I.e. not a short course like many other 9’s) and you can play 18 off separate tees - although these in the main are together.

Decent challenge as quite narrow, very hilly so not for those who don’t like the extra physicality in a round! 1st hole par 3 is great. Not much in the way of water/bunker hazards though.

Small club house with friendly staff and cheap drinks for a post round pint but not usual high end.

Overall for the £10/£15 a round you can’t beat it for value, but not for you if you’re after a high end posh club or a full 18 of different holes, water, bunker challenge etc
