Great course. Would recommend
Lovely course, first time me and my father have played it. Both high handicappers and found wide forgiving fairways with a few blind shots.
For the lower handicaps you can generally go for a few "tiger lines" and get those scores down.
Would definitely recommend
Lovely course (hilly)
Great course, ample parking, friendly staff on arrival.
This is a challenging course with lots of blind tees so you don’t know where you’re shooting until you get over a ridge. Beautiful surroundings, lots of trees, few lakes, draining ditches. All the bunkers had rakes. Nearly all the tee boxes have ball washed. Greens very well kept and run true. As I said in the title this is a hilly course so great to keep you fit. Pathways throughout for buggies. Didn’t go in the clubhouse but looks lovely great big external elevated patio. Air lines to clean of your gear at the end 👍
Challenging Walk
Played in July during a prolonged dry spell, the course was in very good condition. The few blemishes we encountered on the tees, fairways and greens could all be attributed to the conditions rather than neglect! Even though the Pro Shop was unattended when we checked in, there was signage to indicate why and a plentiful supply of score cards nearby.
The course is a challenging walk with many changes of elevation on almost every hole. Fairway and green marker posts are well positioned as are signs from green to next tee.
The members we encountered were friendly and respectful.
No hesitation in returning!
It was ok
The Tee boxes really need some work. Very patchy and uneven
The course was otherwise very good apart from the geese crapping everywhere.
Outstanding course a real joy to play
I feel like I got really lucky bagging a last minute round here for just £20 - you could spend multiple times this and still feel lucky. The course is stunning with its undulating hills, tree-lined greens and rural vistas, and very well maintained to boot. The view downhill to the watery 9th and across the valley is particularly stunning. As a course this one is nicely varied, fun to unpick, deceptively tricky and, whilst it does play reasonably favourably on width, will punish short shots and mishits, with ample hazards, bunkers and OBs forcing you to play boldly. I was held up a bit towards the final 3-4 holes as the course bunched up but in fairness I was playing a 1-ball. The fairways were pretty tight and the greens were in particularly good condition, if anything a little too good (for me anyway). Overall I thoroughly enjoyed my round and will definitely be back to beat my score.
course was in fantastic condition greens were so fast and in great condition good layout, there were a couple of holes that were amazing to play especially the 4th and 8th
Wonderful track, will 100% be playing it again.
Great course
Really good condition for the time of year. Quite a few really interesting holes. Layout is a bit confusing if you haven’t played there before but everything is signed if you look for it
What a course
Absolutely fantastic all round! Hawarden Golf Course is a real hidden gem — the layout is both enjoyable and challenging, with some truly amazing holes that offer stunning scenery throughout. Every part of the course feels well-maintained and thoughtfully designed. The staff are incredibly welcoming and helpful, creating a great atmosphere from the moment you arrive. Whether you’re a seasoned golfer or just getting into the game, this course is a must-play. Can’t wait to come back!
Great Value
Some cracking holes on this course which we played for only £25, it would have been great value at twice that. It was a little boggy in bits but only a couple of spots and nowhere that affected play. Fairways, bunkers and greens all in great condition.
Thoroughly enjoyed Hawarden, would return and recommend.
NB don’t hit driver on the first!
Great course
This was a great course with really friendly staff and a great club house.
Excellent Course
Fabulous layout, which was being well maintained and looked after. Looking forward to returning, hopefully as a member. I've played 20 courses over the last 12 months and this was the most enjoyable. The winter tees were well forward, which was allowing for fabulously looking summer tees, which a lot of money looks to have been spent improving.
The 18th par 3 is spectacular, down hill into a green set in an amphitheatre of surrounding trees.
The 8th is also a whole with great views from the elevated tee, worth well positioned ditches, and a lake short of the green, again, a lot of money looks to have been spent improving the layout and drainage.
This place is a must!
Top Condition
Apart from one temporary green, the course was in great condition. Greens were smooth and fast. Mats on almost every tee but that’s expected at this time of year. Looking forward to returning in summer.
Really interesting Course
First visit to this course.
Spectacular opening hole, interesting course, bring your hill walking boots!
Course conditions were as expected at the beginning of December but will definitely be back for summer
High expectations
Played a 2 ball today and both of us were very disappointed with the conditions of the course considering the lack of rain this week. Tee’s were ok, most of the fairways were very boggy as were a lot of the greens. We ended up walking off at 16 due to slow play in a competition.
