Northop Golf Club

When I booked this the day before on Golf Now there was no indication it was carry only. Ah well these things happen as we lugged our stand bags to the club house we saw an interesting sign

“No trolleys without medical certificate”

Signs like this are a warning about the attitude of the club - who carries a certificate to prove they need a trolley?

Inside it got worse - the intensely uninterested chap behind the counter enquired “So you have mats?”

No we don’t and we didn’t know we needed them.

“Every hole, every shot”

I was then proffered a tatty piece of plastic which curled up at both ends like Ali Ba-bas slippers!

This wasn’t looking good - after nearly slipping over walking to the badly signed 1st tee we noticed 5 people working on the first hole.

The ground was unplayable (good job we had the mat - oh wait that was unplayable as well!)

After laying our stand bags down only to retrieve them literally caked in mud we decided to call it a day.

I was not expecting a glorious round of golf it’s been very wet and it’s February - I was expecting a playable course and a mildly enjoyable experience.

I told the chap in the shop - he can’t be a pro surely? The course should not be open.

“It’s all on the web site”

Well so is this review now - please don’t waste your money and time.

Was on my own at the start of this game but soon joined up with Arthur a club member.

He was great company and pointed out some great lines in on different holes.

Really enjoyable day on a great course in great weather.😎

Played as a 2 ball. Arrived early and enjoyed a good lunch. Checked in and was allowed to go out 15 minutes early. Felt like a nice walk in the countryside, pace of play was good with other players happy to let us play through. Considering the very dry summer the course was holding up well and the greens were good. Will return for another round. :)

Fantastic Course….in great condition. Greens are like carpets. Whole positions like greenkeepers revenge on some of the holes🤣 A real challenging course. love playing here if I lived closer I’d be a member for sure! Absolute bargain considering some of the prices for courses in a far worse condition. If you haven’t played here before book it, you’re not be disappointed..

The course was well lauded out & the greens were in quit good condition.

Did have a little strange layout on the back 9 with a long walk between some of the Tees

Overall a good experience for £25

Really nice course, greens in good condition and fairway is fine too. We got behind a couple of 4 balls who were a little slow ahead of us but overall a really good day of golf.

Excellent course , with very friendly staff defo play again !

Great course, greens were superb and some really testing holes. Very good value for money

My mate and I left the course after hole 12. Pace of play was really slow. My mate put in a complaint to the staff, who also received 2 complaints before he did. The round would have taken 5 and a half hours. Unacceptable.

honestly a great course had a issue with a member claiming we were late for our tee time claiming hole 10 was home 1 but staff assured us we were correct

will be going again

Can not fault this course one bit. Hats off the ground staff and the people who keep this course in amazing condition. Played a 3 ball and loved every minute of it! Everything from the tee boxes, fairways and greens are perfect. Even the rough areas are well maintained. I’ll be returning very soon
