The Celtic Manor Resort - The Roman Road Course

I enjoyed the course only bad thing was fairways were very bogey soon as ball landed it plugged once you got to green they were in great condition very fast but spot on I was a single player but 4 groups let me through which was good they was doing a challenge on one of par 3 which you paid £10 if you got on green you got a free game and if you got hole in one a 10 year membership would definitely play again but in summer

Course was extremely wet due to recent heavy rain . Starter warned us that the greens were superb ( they were) but the fairways might plug - an understatement!

Lost a ball on first fairway - plugged somewhere in middle of fairway? Most courses would not be open with fairways squelching like this. My playing partner slipped over twice the first time got up with muddy back and elbow but second time slide down a slope was absolutely covered in mud from ankles to shoulders - left course at 10th green!

Did not do a great course justice being open when sensibly it should be closed.

The course was a quagmire it should have been closed.

I lost 4 balls on the fairway, 4 plugged balls. On the fairway! I would like to be reimbursed for the lost pro Vs.

Maybe in the summer time it would have been ok…

But it’s also £60 for a buggy….

This is a nightmare of a course. Not for high handicap golfers. Every hole up hill and down dale. I had a buggy luckily but two of my son's didn't. They could not play the next day. Lost many balls found none. Good luck if you decide to play there

Booked last minute and couldn’t have been better. Starter was very friendly and offered some good advice. Course is looking fantastic but greens were too quick for the ‘average’ golfer. Lovely front 9 layout and tough back 9 playing around the hotel.

Great resort and a fantastic place to play Golf, played here quite a few times before.

Unfortunately this time with tee times atb12:30 and 12:40, by 16:50 we walked off after having played 12 holes, with 12 people waiting on the tees.

No Marshals on the course to move play along and one 3 ball holding the course up with no one in front of them. The manger blamed lack of staff, but there are still Guys stood on the Par 3s selling tickets for hitting the green🤔.

We played Roman Rd this time, greens and fairways fantastic, but very little sand in the bunkers.

All members of staff were more than helpful and a great place to play, just a shame it isn't marshalled better to keep pace of play up. YMC.

The course is always interesting to play. Off course facilities are always good.

With the weather being so wet over the last month, we expected the course to be be wet and except for the greens, it surely was!

The greens were excellent and the layout of the course is superb.

All in all, despite the weather, we had a good day in a great venue.

Great long course. Ground was wet so no run at all.

Excellent facilities and most welcoming staff.

Will be playing here again

We've just had alot of bad weather which has taken its toll on the course, give it a few months and it'll be a lovely course.

The course was so water logged it should have been closed. I personally think they Just wanted to get some cash on a bad weather day. We were offered vouchers if we didn't want to play but I personally think the course shouldn't have been open in the first place
