Boca Royale Golf & Country Club

This course is laid out very well, with both water and sand on most of the holes. The starter is very helpful by explaining which holes have water in front of the greens and that the ball doesn't get a lot of roll in certain areas around the greens. Received a book with layout of each holes and showing yardage to sand/water/hazards.

Friendly staff started us a little early and the course was in it's usual great condition. A member/guest tournament caused serious delays for us on the back nine.

We paid $50 for an early morning tee time.
We were the third group out so we never got backed up which was nice. Played 18 in just over 3 hours.

The cart guy was friendly but the pro shop attendant and the starter were very dry and unfriendly.
There is an area for chipping and putting practice and also a place to hit in a cage type area. There were free balls provided. I thought he that was a nice touch.

The course is in pretty good shape for winter in Florida. The greens are small but well kept. Fairways are wide and nice. Not a lot of water but there are quite a few bunkers to deal with. Design is nothing special. Overall just a regular course.
If I was paying the full price I would probably go some place else for that kind of money.

The staff was extremely nice, the pace of play was very good for "season." Played this course several years ago, and the conditions were terrible, it has really improved. Hitting the small greens is a challenge but fun. Old Florida course at its best.

Nice to play a course that had been over seeded. Being from the North, it was nice to have some green in an otherwise brown winter. I played 7 courses during my Florida visit & the rest were not green.

Also, liked the layout.

Being a first timer at the course my wife and I were welcomed immediately at the course by the person at the bag drop. Our clubs were removed and upon asking us if this was our first time explained where to go and made sure we were guided to the pro shop. Inside the pro shop we were greeted and payment processed quickly. We were sent to the starter who was very cordial and friendly. We were paired up with another two some and had a great round. Play was slow for the front 9 but improved greatly on the backside. Enjoyed the layout as each of us used a separate tee to our ability of which made for an enjoyable round for all.

Nice course fun to play. Semi challenging layout in pretty good condition. Definitely worth a try.

Decided to play here because it was halfway between our place and the other twosome's place. The price wasn't bad and the reviews seemed okay. I knew it was a private club, so maybe was expecting a bit more.

Not knowing for sure how long it would take to get there, we left early from home to make sure we had enough time to check in, and hit the range, chipping areas and practice green. When we checked in, the guy at the counter looked at us like we were nuts saying we had an hour an a half before our tee time. I explained we wanted to make sure we had plenty of time and he kind of rolled his eyes. He seemed like he wasn't very happy to see non-members. Strike One.

We then go outside and I ask the starter where the practice area is and he points in a direction. We head over there and find a putting green, a chipping area, but no driving range. Instead, there is a net with two mats in front of it, each with a rubber tee that was about 4 inches high. No other choice of tee heights. I'm hoping maybe it is just an instruction area and that there is actually a range somewhere. But, no such luck. That's it. Very disappointed. I usually like to hit at least a half bucket of balls to dial things in before a round. Strike Two.

The course itself was just okay. Old style design. Tight fairways and very small greens for the most part. Front nine is tighter than back nine. Actually, back nine was much more open. Fairway grass was kind of tightly cut, with mostly good cover. Greens were definitely NOT fast. Slow to medium. Guessing about 7 on stimp. They did roll pretty true though.

I triple bogied a couple holes after penalty strokes, which didn't help my mood, but that wasn't the courses fault. However, I did birdie the last par 3 which helped to calm me down. As a result, the course wasn't a total strikeout, but it was far from a home run.

I don't think I would play it again. There are too many others to try in the area first.

The front nine was in tough shape. Invasive species in the greens. No overseeing. Brown rough. Lots of roll - into trouble. Back nine is much nicer layout and was in better shape. If not for the back nine, I would not consider going back. Did not eat or drink there as the snack bar was closed when we made the turn: around 4PM. No hospitality cart so bring what you want. Range for members only. Chipping and putting available to day guests.

This is the best value I've found in the area for a walk-on golf experience. The course is interesting, in good shape, fun with lots of water, well treed/landscaped and the food and people were really good. I'm going back!

Perfect conditions challenging for all levels of golfers.

very small greens difficult to get a ball to stop very bumpy and difficult to read or judge proper speed. the staff was helpful. But overall the course was significantly below others in the sarasota area.

Fun round! Greens in Regulation? Only if you are GOOD. This is an older mature course without large greens. You could fit 3 or 4 of these greens into most of today's designs. They are sloped front to back except for a few that are larger most likely were part of a redesign. Fairways are roomy for the most part. The hazard challenge are moderate. Bunkers are frequent but in great condition. Play here.

Enjoyed the pace of play and the water challenges. Greens were easy to read. I would play here again. Staff friendly and professional. Surrounded by nature .

Good value for prepaid afternoon golfing. Good pace of play. Good conditions

The course sold many tee times while a tournament was going on. Tee time was delayed by 30 minutes, so I could not finish my round of golf.

Friendly staff, fairways, greens and bunkers were excellent. The course is not long but still offers a challenge. The wind was blowing about 25 mph with gusts and made the course harder to play with the water that comes into play. The water crosses in from ot some par five holes making them true par fives even though under 500 yards. I will go back and take my brother for a grudge match.

Challenging but fair course. Enough water and sand traps but some forgiving fairways and true greens. No gimmicky holes.
