Beautiful course - take in the views!
Played for the first time on a Monday afternoon. The course was in great shape, the greens were still healing from aeration a couple of weeks before, so putting was still a little bumpy, but we were made aware of this when we made our reservation. Our 4-some bought the package deal with a sleeve of balls included for each player. We played the Lakes 9 first then the Meadows. Spectacular views, each hole offering a unique layout. The many hills make it a little more challenging.. a good test for any level player. The staff was very friendly and helpful. We had lunch before play and then stayed at the tavern for dinner.. great service and nice assortment of dishes on the menu. Would definitely play here again, looking forward to an Autumn trip.. should be gorgeous!
Aerated Greens
Greens had recently been aerated and were slow and bumpy. Looking forward to playing again when the greens are in better shape. Layout has a lot of elevation change and some challenging holes.
Could have been great
This was my first time playing this course, and I booked through golfnow. The facilities are top notch, and the courses are also beautifully laid out. Overall the course conditions were good. However, they made no mention at any time about aeration of the greens. We found out when we reached the 1st green. I wish they would've posted this status on golf now for people booking online. The range and Grill room as well as the pro shop are all very nice. Pace of play was a bit slow but not too bad. Overall, it was a good value for the rate I paid. Range balls included is a nice touch. Would definitely come back when the greens are in normal shape
Wish I had known
Booked on a Tuesday for a Thursday round. Drove over an hour to find out the greens had been arerated. Was not told on the website when booking, or even when we checked in for our round in the clubhouse. Course was otherwise in good condition, but we couldn't get over the fact that the greens were so bad.
Great Shape
The Course is in great shape right now. Greens are rolling like a private club. Staff is always friendly and cooperative with the players needs.
John
fantastic course setup
Play a lot of course in Connecticut by far Centennial golf course in Carmel,NY the best I have been. Great staff!!
Pace of play
Pace of play was five hours twenty minutes. No ranger to speed up slow foursomes
Beautiful area poorly run.
The views and hole layouts are perfect and beautiful. The fairways were in great shape and sand bunkers were well placed and groomed. The greens were badly beaten up and so were some of the tee boxes. For the price of this course vs richter park in Danbury or candlwood valley I expected more. The worst part about the course and the reason I won't come back any time soon is that they have no rangers or staff keeping people on pace with average round times. Large groups at tee boxes very slow players backups on every hole make this course go from 5 start to 3 at best. Who wants to play a 6 hour round of golf all because the staff doesn't enforce any rate of play policy.
Great Course, Abnormally Slow Round
To cut right to it, front 9 took 3 hours on the dot. That's just unacceptable, especially for what you pay to play here. Usually the Rangers are on top of something like that, but they did not address it until making the turn, and still allowed the group causing the issues to continue ahead of us.
Thank you for playing Centennial Golf Club. We value your feedback as we are continually looking to improve the experience for our guests. I will be reaching out to you personally about pace of play. We hope that this experience will not delay your return to Centennial in the future. Thank you again for supporting Centennial Golf Club.
beautiful and difficult
Conditions are excellent from tee to green. Some of the tee boxes were narrow and uneven but thats part of the game. The facility amd staff are top notch.
Tee to green: lots of elevated tee shots...safe to aim at most of the 150 yard marker. Almost every approach shot is uphill to an elevated green protected by bunkers. Cannot roll your ball to the green on this course.
Green: putting is even harder. Not only is the speed very difficult to judge but the reads are very subtle. Nothing is straight.
Sand: nice sand.
Overall a very difficult place to post a nice score.
A Jewel
I've not seen a course open to the public in such good shape! The views are spectacular from a number of holes. You are rewarded for smart shot making. The greens are challenging as any I have ever played, even though I hit a 60 ft putt on Lakes#2 for birdie! I played after 3pm and it was a hot one. One thing that needs improvement is that ball marks should be repaired on greens! The amount of ball marks not repaired was annoying. Otherwise, a phenomenal course!
Tough greens. Fast and undulations are very demanding
Course was excellent value for under 50 bucks. Fairways and tee boxes are pretty chewed up as it seems no one replaced or fills divots. Ball marks not fixed either but the greens are true and what make this course difficult. Very playable from blues but see it as not much tougher going back to champion tees as the elevated tees cut down on the yardage son most holes. Staff is great and facilities are top notch. Would play again for low rate I got this weekend but be prepared for a nearly 5 hr round
Cart Path Only?
This is a beautiful golf course in great condition. However Cart path only is a Joke. Unfortunately Cart paths are on top of the hills and on like half the holes the Balls will bounce to the other side of the fairways because of the slope. They should put in cart paths that go down the hill and again to go back up. Just slows down pace of play and also a pain to carry like 3 clubs all the way to the other side. I would of been very upset if I had paid $80 like the poor gentleman did that I paired up with. Also lack of drinking water on the Lakes course and only saw the drink cart on the 3rd hole. Was surprised at the lack of previous golfers not repairing ball marks on greens.
Booking error
Course in good condition staff didn't seem to know how to proceed when other golfers on my tee time didn't show.
Great day of golf
Course was in great condition from tee to green. Greens were fast and true, and the views were breathtaking. Would come back to play again!!
Meadows are fun... if you hit in the fairways..
Challenging father's day weather... kept going thru gloves.... but always beautifully kept course with nice golfers around you.. Thumbs up.
Great layout
Greens rolled true and course was in good shape. It's operated by Troon and you can tell. Very well organized
Great Public Course
Troon never disappoints - course is in great shape and they take such good care of you that you feel like you are at a private country club.
Brian, thank you for your kind remarks. We appreciate the positive feedback and hope that you continue to visit Centennial Golf Club in the future. Thank you again for supporting Troon and Centennial Golf Club
A Gem in Carmel
Country Club Conditions at this 27 hole facility. No way to walk this course as the hole spacings are very distant with many severe elevation changes. I recommend playing with someone with course knowledge. Its a beauty with medium/fast greens with the whole course in top shape. Being on the Fairways is a must.
3 nines 999
There are 3 nine hole courses and they will send you off the combo that is least crowded, I guess you can opt for the best nines but you might have to wait. Great practice area and free balls with your round. Be ready to tip the cart guys at the end of the round, sort of annoying if you clean your club after every shot like I do anyway, but it's a nice touch and adds to the private club "feel."
