Patriot Hills Golf Club
About
Tucked away in the Ramapo Mountains on a perch overlooking the Hudson, Patriot Hills Golf Club in Stony Point feels far but it’s conveniently only an hour’s drive from the city. The golf course tumbles across dramatically rolling hills, providing views that span the Hudson Valley. Don’t let the 6,485 yards on the scorecard fool you, the daunting elevation changes make the course feel much longer. Walkers should be forewarned that this mountainous golf course is nearly impossible on foot. You can expect a few approaches to uphill greens but more often you’ll be faced with intimidating shots from elevated tees, which loom more than 200 feet above the severely contoured fairways below. The Patriot Hills layout is a formidable test but players of any skill level can appreciate the meticulous care that went into crafting each hole.

Stunning...AND Challenging
Huge piece of land makes each hole it’s own eco-system.
Each elevated tee-box (and surrounding topography) nicer than the next.
No easy approaches to the green. No easy greens.
All greens and fairways designed and cut beautifully - Country Club quality!
Note To Management: Implore all your guests to repair any ball marks they come across. With the greens being so large, you may not find your own ball mark, but you’ll come across plenty of others, so just fix 1 or 2 of them.
Def coming back. My 2 sons and I played in less than 4 hrs. Our indexes are betwn 8 and 13.6, and found the course to be a great addition to our rotation. We’ll def be back.
Beautiful Mountain Course Close to Home
First time here. Town soaked in American History dating to the Revolutionary War. Town still rural (a positive) with enormous swaths of land dedicated to public spaces, incl this Great Course. Enormous layout. Many significant altitude changes. Beautiful cart-path weaving down and through many types of terrain. Lombard St. in SanFran would be jealous of the hairpin turns used to slow ur descent onto one of its beautifully maintained fairways.
Oh yeah...the golf course:
Very well maintained. Special attention given to fairway and green complexes. Well-defined, well-shaped first and second cuts give the course great look and feel, and great playability, if you keep it on the short stuff. If you miss fairways, it’s going to be a long day with a lot of hill-trekking (even with a cart). Plenty of well-placed traps (acres of them) and dense surrounding woods make a stray tee shot ‘the walk of dread’.
Not to bury the lead, but I’ve left out the reason ppl come back: the elevated tee shots. Because of the ample space afforded the course, each hole is its own eco-system. You can’t see one from the other, which means when standing on your tee box, each hole’s features (canyon, valley, limestone, forest, ribbons of green stamped with shamrock-shaped traps) are laid before you to appreciate. Wind is always a factor with such course features, so your good mood may change if you misdirect your tee shot, and wind does what wind does.
The views are tremendous and the course well-maintained, and for that reason it will have me and my sons (9/12/15 handicaps respectively) coming back again this season.
Note to Management: Please implore all guests to Repair Ball Marks on greens. Give out a sheet on how to repair marks correctly. The greens are so well-designed and cut. A shame if it’s users were the ones to ruin them.
See you soon.

The staff is awesome
I booked a foursome at the Patriot Hills in Tennessee by mistake. The staff took into consideration, my frustration and got my foursome spots to play. What turned out to be a disaster was followed by a great day of golf. The course was in outstanding shape. I would recommend this course to anyone who loves golf.
Great time
Course was in good shape but greens were slower than expected. Pace was great and it is a very good layout but very hilly. Sprinklers were well marked which made up for no GPS on the carts. Overall fun and would play there again.
Course in very good shape. Lots of challenging holes.
Bit pricey for non-town residents. 14th hole in particular is a gem
A good time was had by all.
Patriot is in excellent condition. Pace of play was 3:43 for our threesome, which is the fastest round I’ve had there in years. The staff is very well organized to deal with playing during the pandemic.
Mountain golf, great condition, pace of play great this time
Mountain golf - lots of holes with elevated tee shots into a valley then shot back uphill to green. Tests all your golf shots. I’m 12 hcp and played from tips. Had 9 pars but still finished 22 over par! Will blame it on first time playing course and only 3rd round of the season lol! Conditions were excellent, probably due to early season and low play due to Covid. Pace of play excellent since groups of 3 only, each player with own cart. Staff and course extremely cognizant of Covid preparedness, felt safe. Driving range was open. Pricey greens fee since I’m non-resident but worthwhile considering conditions and pace of play.
Course would be perfect if it was private.
Everything's great about the course minus the usual suspect of weekend warriors who have no business being on a course, slow play, never fix their divots, just out there to brag that they play but they really don't...bunch of 50+ Handicaps posing as 20 handicaps.
Great spot!
Beautiful course, great condition and excellent pace of play. First time playing and will certainly be back.
Good course
Nice forgiving fairway s . Good scenario. Pleasant staff.
Worth The Trip
This Is one of the best courses I have seen and played. The staff was nothing but professional, personable, and courteous. Great Coarse!
Great views
Really nice layout, fast greens and lots of elevation. You wouldn’t want to walk this course. Not a easy play for beginners but really fun for intermediate and better players
