Tucked away in the Ramapo Mountains on a perch overlooking the Hudson, Patriot Hills Golf Club in Stony Point feels far but it’s conveniently only an hour’s drive from the city. The golf course tumbles across dramatically rolling hills, providing views that span the Hudson Valley. Don’t let the 6,485 yards on the scorecard fool you, the daunting elevation changes make the course feel much longer. Walkers should be forewarned that this mountainous golf course is nearly impossible on foot. You can expect a few approaches to uphill greens but more often you’ll be faced with intimidating shots from elevated tees, which loom more than 200 feet above the severely contoured fairways below. The Patriot Hills layout is a formidable test but players of any skill level can appreciate the meticulous care that went into crafting each hole.

Mountain golf
I asked my playing partners if this place was built by the 10th Mountain Division. Most of the course features very elevated tee shots to fairly ample fairways. I played in early May and I am looking forward to playing here during the fall foliage season. I’m sure it is spectacular. The course is very well designed and will test all your shot making skills. Conditions were excellent. It is a bit on the pricey side for the frugal golfer, but if you come across a deal, grab it. Carts only. Walking this course is impossible. It’s an impressive layout.
Scenic
Course was in great shape with great views. The greens were in good shape and rolled true
Go-kart time!
Challenging course, in good shape. Max is Threesome, each golfer rides own cart. Felt like go-cart at times - was fun. Hardly ever saw another group due to 16-minute tee time intervals. Friendly staff.

Sweet layout! Cool views, and great playing conditions. A hidden gem in rockland county. Staff was awesome making sure social distancing policies were followed.
Nice Looking Place; Tricky Layout
The look of the course is very cool to look at but accuracy is a must to have a fun round. I would definitely play it again but not regularly with other options in the area. Great once a season challenge to change up our muni-golf routine.
Beautiful Course on a Beautiful Day
Being from Texas, I was over joyed with the beautiful views and wonderful course layout at Patriot. The course was busy and we barely got 18 in under 5 hours. Pace was great until 11 and then there was rarely a hole with less than 3 groups on it. This is not a hackers course as shot making is rewarded and shot placement is crucial. I hit several great shots that ended up only marginal, proving the benefit of course knowledge in having a successful round of golf. The course was in beautiful condition; fairways cut close and greens were fast and true.
I will definitely be back to play this course again when I'm in the area. Look forward to bringing experience back for shot making and placement.
Amazing
Incredible course. Very picturesque and scenic. Beautifully designed and worth the 1 hour trip.
Worth the drive
Thought about making the one hour drive to play this course on the advice of a person who’s opinion I value. Beautiful and interesting course. Without question one of the best public courses around. In fairness I only paid 36$ on golf now which is a STEAL for this course. 125$ out of state rate on a weekend would have been tougher to swallow. Doesn’t change the fact that the course is special. Play it!
