Tucked away in the Ramapo Mountains on a perch overlooking the Hudson, Patriot Hills Golf Club in Stony Point feels far but it’s conveniently only an hour’s drive from the city. The golf course tumbles across dramatically rolling hills, providing views that span the Hudson Valley. Don’t let the 6,485 yards on the scorecard fool you, the daunting elevation changes make the course feel much longer. Walkers should be forewarned that this mountainous golf course is nearly impossible on foot. You can expect a few approaches to uphill greens but more often you’ll be faced with intimidating shots from elevated tees, which loom more than 200 feet above the severely contoured fairways below. The Patriot Hills layout is a formidable test but players of any skill level can appreciate the meticulous care that went into crafting each hole.

Beautiful Course on a Beautiful Day
Being from Texas, I was over joyed with the beautiful views and wonderful course layout at Patriot. The course was busy and we barely got 18 in under 5 hours. Pace was great until 11 and then there was rarely a hole with less than 3 groups on it. This is not a hackers course as shot making is rewarded and shot placement is crucial. I hit several great shots that ended up only marginal, proving the benefit of course knowledge in having a successful round of golf. The course was in beautiful condition; fairways cut close and greens were fast and true.
I will definitely be back to play this course again when I'm in the area. Look forward to bringing experience back for shot making and placement.
Amazing
Incredible course. Very picturesque and scenic. Beautifully designed and worth the 1 hour trip.
Worth the drive
Thought about making the one hour drive to play this course on the advice of a person who’s opinion I value. Beautiful and interesting course. Without question one of the best public courses around. In fairness I only paid 36$ on golf now which is a STEAL for this course. 125$ out of state rate on a weekend would have been tougher to swallow. Doesn’t change the fact that the course is special. Play it!
Nice but tough
Very nice course, challenging. Shouldn’t have been cart path only.
Great course, awful management
Course is beautiful and in great shape. Except you’ll wait 20 minutes on each tee box to tee off because the marshalls don’t know how to keep pace. Finally decided to just leave after 12 holes took 4.5 hours. Need to re look at their strategy
Got to play
Even do the greens where aerated they where still quite fast. The course layout is both challenging to play and enjoyable to see with all the different elevations, plus the deer walking around makes it feel like your playing in the woods. I travel from long island to play this incredible golf course. Can't wait for the summer to play it again.
Picturesque
Great views through the mountains. Must take cart, don’t try to walk! We played the gold tees and see the course the way it was designed to play. Quiet out there now too. Enjoy. Played midday and got great value.
Outstanding
Played here w/my nephew and really enjoyed ourselves. We were paired up w/2 nice guys who had a nice time as well. The starter got us out quickly and the ranger was present to help if needed, but the pace of play was very good and we finished in just over 4 hrs.. We then enjoyed a terrific lunch at the grill, where the food was well prepared and served w/a smile. Patriot Hills is beautiful and challenging track w/an outstanding staff. Thank you all for a great round!
Always Fun
A fun course. I hadn't played PatriotHills in three years, mainly because of maintenance issues. The course is in pretty good shape for this time of the season, the main issue being the state of a number of sand traps, which are quite stony. Also, they need to get GPS units for the carts.
What a course
This is one of the nicest courses I've had the pleasure of playing. The layout is challenging and the shots need to be made. Greens were quick and fairways were in great shape. Great rate on golfnow which made it even sweeter.
