Patriot Hills Golf Club
About
Tucked away in the Ramapo Mountains on a perch overlooking the Hudson, Patriot Hills Golf Club in Stony Point feels far but it’s conveniently only an hour’s drive from the city. The golf course tumbles across dramatically rolling hills, providing views that span the Hudson Valley. Don’t let the 6,485 yards on the scorecard fool you, the daunting elevation changes make the course feel much longer. Walkers should be forewarned that this mountainous golf course is nearly impossible on foot. You can expect a few approaches to uphill greens but more often you’ll be faced with intimidating shots from elevated tees, which loom more than 200 feet above the severely contoured fairways below. The Patriot Hills layout is a formidable test but players of any skill level can appreciate the meticulous care that went into crafting each hole.

Outstanding course
Great course. Well maintained fast tough greens.
Excellent value
Fast green
This is a beautiful course . They kept it in a good shape. If you look around in the tee boxes, a few holes with very nice sceneries. The greens are very fast with a lot of breaks. We really enjoy playing there.
Love this course.....
This is a great golf course....always in top shape despite the amount of play it gets.....if I lived closer I would play here every day....! Worth the trip from anywhere.....I'll be back....!
Pricey but fun layout
Patriot Hills does a great job of varying course difficulty with their tee boxes. Plenty of elevated tee shots will make you feel ready for the World Long Drive circuit! Be warned though, miss right or left and you'll likely be reaching in your pocket for a new ball. From the men's tees, ~200 yards from the tee will leave you a scoring iron into mostly receptive greens. Don't take undulations on the green for granted on your approach! Left a divot mark on #8 less than 3 feet to the pin but missed on the wrong side and had the ball roll back 20 feet. Speaking of divots, be sure to fix your divot marks on the green and replace divots in the fairways.
A Rockland County Gem
Teed off in the late twilight about 530 was met by a first timer never played the golf course what a wonderful staff fabulous fabulous golf course always a beautiful picturesque place to play golf wonderful layout absolute pristine tea boxes fairways lovely dreams little patchy but I know that they'll be fine in a couple of days oh it was such a great great experience playing patriot Hills fabulous to see you off elevated tease like you're hitting off the top of a 10 story building unbelievable picturesque view lots of wildlife really really fabulous golf course I would recommend it to all levels hit them straight not often all the best enjoy
Great course, slow pace, byo clubs
We teed-off at our 5:20 tee time and the course got increasingly backed up as we went along. When we got to the 14th hole it had become quite bad and we decided to try and skip ahead, but it was stacked with people all the way to the end. We were fairly tired so we retired for the day. At only $25 per person, I feel like we got our money's worth and was very satisfied with the course itself, the cart that was provided, and the staff.
Pro-tip: before going I emailed in asking how much club rental was and they said $35 dollars.. Maybe they are brand-new, top of the line clubs and worth that much in rent but I doubt it. Do yourself a favor and buy yourself some used clubs for that much if you don't have a set yet.
awful
Pace of play was horrible, rangers did nothing to speed up the play. The courses greens are terrible for charging 99$.. course is way overpriced...save your money
Still one of my favorite courses, but . . .
First time playing the course, which is one of my local favorites and recommend it, but . . . (a) the fairway grass is too high compared to prior years, (b) the greens are very slow and need cutting and rolling, (c) too many players do not respect either the course, the game or their fellow players because they don't fix ballparks on the green (way too many of these) and/or fill in fairway divots, (d) rangers are lackadaisical and (e) . . . my biggest gripe, some players are allowed by rangers to use the course to give lessons during a round. The last "but" is a huge no-no. We had a three-some (spouses and their daughter) in front of us. The daughter was obviously a beginner and her father kept giving her lessons during the round resulting in our having to wait for five minutes to tee off on each of the first four holes. We complained to a ranger, who did nothing. Finally, at the fifth hole, we drove up to the father to ask if we could play through. He agreed and then the three of them completed the fifth hole anyway and then skipped ahead two holes. From our standpoint, that was a solution to our issue, but it should not have been necessary. A round when you have people behind you is NOT the place to give lessons and the rangers need to do their job!
tough but fair course
i've been coming to pat hills for years. sometimes the greens fees gets out of hand so i'm opportunistic.
the course is a great track. lots of elevation changes, nice greens, overall just a solid tough but fair course. some greens are tiered and can be tricky.
greens were rolling really nicely and fastish on 5/1. played on tues at noon and our threesome finished in 4hrs. obviously this was not typical weekend pace of play which can easily top 5hrs.
i would advise high handicappers to pan the course. you will lose balls left and right here. for those looking for a very solid course, this is a nice option.
Beautiful day spent on a beautiful track
I venture to this track once or twice a year. One of the best public courses just north of NYC. Today the course was in great shape. Teeboxes, fairways, greens were in decent shape. Elevation changes are always fun and the staff is always friendly.
ups and downs
nicely maintained course. lots of elevation changes. a lot of short par 3's bunched together. a fair amount of trouble in the woods. overall, very nice.
Patriot Hill
Nicest Public Course in the area. Great layout. Greens are awesome and fairways are clean. Tee boxes couldnt be better as well.
