Patriot Hills Golf Club
About
Tucked away in the Ramapo Mountains on a perch overlooking the Hudson, Patriot Hills Golf Club in Stony Point feels far but it’s conveniently only an hour’s drive from the city. The golf course tumbles across dramatically rolling hills, providing views that span the Hudson Valley. Don’t let the 6,485 yards on the scorecard fool you, the daunting elevation changes make the course feel much longer. Walkers should be forewarned that this mountainous golf course is nearly impossible on foot. You can expect a few approaches to uphill greens but more often you’ll be faced with intimidating shots from elevated tees, which loom more than 200 feet above the severely contoured fairways below. The Patriot Hills layout is a formidable test but players of any skill level can appreciate the meticulous care that went into crafting each hole.

Great course
Very hilly. Beautiful scenery and the more you play the more fun it became
Great views
The staff is really nice and accommodating. The Course was in good condition and the greens were fast but fair
Hidden Gem
This is a must play for anyone in the tri-state area. Incredible elevation from tee to green. Condition is pretty good, and greens are in good shape. Some of the views from the tee boxes are breathtaking. The last few holes are a bit underwhelming but as a whole the course is a real treat. Pay the $65 for the early bird round. This is a must ride course, it would be impossible to walk.
5 hours and half to finish the round
We played at 3:10 pm and finished at 8:30 pm. I like to play here and was disappointed this time.
Mountain Golf !
I went because everyone told me this was a great course, and it is ! The problem is AS USUAL, nobody at these beautiful public tracks ever fixes their ball marks on the green. I JUST DON'T GET IT !!! ;-( Ya know why, these people RARELY hit the green in regulation, so they NEVER fix their ball marks. Therefore, the greens were pretty bad, bumpy and littered with unrepaired ball marks. The course is gorgeous with plenty of severe elevation changes
Saturday morning golf
Lovely layout pace of play excellent but no drinks cart in 80 degree weather. One of my favorite courses in the New York area. If you ever get a chance to play have no hesitation in booking a round as it would be throughly enjoyable
Beautiful Course
Loved it. The course was in great shape. The greens were in very good shape overall.
Challenging, Fun, and Scenic
Great track with drastic elevations, slick greens and great conditions. The hills are so severe carts are required, but the holes all play downhill with scenic vistas. A variety of tee boxes make for a fun round for all levels. The par 3's are short, some beefy par 4's and 5's, with a few short par 4's with fun risk/reward options. Expensive, but worth it!
Great course in Roclaknd
Challenging course, great views, great tee shots, tough greens!!!
Lots of sand, no water, need to ride can't walk.
Deer, turkey, and hawks all over. So even if your playing like me, you can enjoy the day!!!
Overall, unique course with lots of character. Bring lots of balls of your a double digit.
Go play it.
Lots of driving
The course is all hills. You drive your cart a lot between most of the holes. We played in a strong wind which wasn't fun. I don't who they had in mind when they made this course. It would be fine as a home course that one got to know well, but as a random public course it's just too hard and quirky. You just can't tell where to land your shots. Hard, fast greens.
Patriot Hills
A really nice scenic course. Par 4s are all beautiful, although a bit repetitive. Par 3s lacking creativity. But overall very good condition and beautiful views throughout.
Patriot Hills Rocks
This is a spectacular course with an amazing layout set in the hills and valleys of northern Rockland County. Very friendly staff and fair prices. With ten minute tee time separation, the pace of play is good. The holes are each unique and memorable. I will be back!!!
Great Views
Great track
Lots of hills
Lots of elevated tee boxes
Favourite course north of NYC
Beautiful layout and pretty scenic holes. Great way to spend time out of the hustle and bustle of NYC. Played this course several times but the last time I had no warning the greens were being aerated.
Golf in november
Cold windy day so not many on course. Great course tho!
The staff makes the difference
Great course, my husband and I played during the fall with leaves changing colors. We spotted, every time we were there a herd of deer and this last time, wild turkey.
The golf course is demanding but really fun, with many scenic holes. The greens will punish you, they are crazy fast!
But what makes a difference here is the staff. We are from Brazil, from the first time we've played the course we were greated as old customers, from the guy that took our bags to the golf cart, to the starter and the ranger. Also the ladies at the bar were very friendly. My husband has had an elbow surgery and he needs ice after every round. Every time I would go there to ask for ice (a plastic bag full of it), they would give it to me with a smiling face. During the last month we've played 10 courses or so. Patriot Hills was the one we chose for our grand finale!
Amen to the Hills
Deffinatly top golf course within the city limits. Worth the drive and $$. As soon as
You get there, you will feel welcomed as you are greeted and taken care of by Uncle Al. Course is challenging but plenty if fun as what a golf course should be.
I LOVE PATRIOT HILLS
Slow play
Great course with many challenging holes. Course is in good condition and the greens are fast. The pace of play was very slow, took at least five hours. Hope the rangers would do a better job with keeping the pace of play.
Great course!
Beautiful course, challenging, have to ride cart, too steep to walk.
Gorgeous view, challenging greens, hilly fairways
This is a tough tough course if you aren't accurate with your shots and a good putter. The greens are very tough yet well maintained. My friend is an amateur and he lost almost a dozen balls in the round. I'm a 15 handicap and lost 1. I nearly kept in the 80's but unforgiving greens and a bad putting day put me at 90.
The views on the course make nearly every hole look like a postcard.
