Well worth a visit
Have played this course twice before, was in better condition on those occasions.
Very nice course to play, with good layout, good holes, excellent views as well
Excellent course
Well maintained, excellent condition, lovely clubhouse, great welcome 10/10
Shocking - Read before you play!
Played the course today, busy course, okay layout, good challenges. Golf shop was accommodating, had the basic set up. Shop keeper was friendly and welcoming and even accommodated with a different tee time however we chose to warm up.
Please not I’m not labelling all members under the same brush however one of the key ambassadors to the club really let the club down and with a huge amount of disappointment.
As you can see from the video, the pace of play was as fast it could be given how busy the course was. Then we had a large group of ladies playing behind us, these ladies were in 5 separate groups. Majority were quite friendly but were shy of the word fore. As we were teeing off, the lady turns around and says boys, will you let us all through, we explained the situation with the traffic in front and said no at present.
As we were teeing off the par 3 on the 12th, one of the boys overshot and rolled into the moss bank prior to the pond. Able to play the shot and found within 1 minute of searching, this woman screams to move out of the way. Myself and the other player were on the green but as rules go, we must wait for the other player to be on the green to take our shot. “Sorry mate, I don’t make the rules” quote comes to mind. We complete the hole and the other players in front just finished their tee shots. This woman and her side kick come storming down, like raging banshees and starts pedantically calling us boys, sorry not usually one to pick holes in slang, but we are men and dressed accordingly, so gents would have been more appropriate but hey ho, boys it is. When your in trouble move out the way and let us pass she claims. That’s all well and good if we was slow or the course was quiet. However all rules played and within the allotted times so we explained the situation. I asked if she was a member, she replies “I’m the lady captain” then spoke down to us. I reminded her of the rules, she told us it was the respectful thing to do. I explained that her attitude and her approach towards visitors is extremely off putting and disappointing to the club. Especially as we have an extremely high profile YouTube channel that will be released soon with our review on the course.
We will not be returning, absolute arrogance!
Great course
Read mixed reviews before booking to play here but couldn't have had a better experience. Cracking course layout with receptive and swift greens. I can see that the course probably doesn't hold out too well in winter but on a gorgeous summer's day it was superb. Also, no issues finding where the next tee was unlike earlier reviews...
Course was in very good condition, good value for money.
Course in lovely condition, surprised it wasn’t busier considering it was a beautiful day, and the longest day. Didn’t use the club house facilities.
Disgrace
The club shop was closed when we arrived at 3.10pm so we went in to the bar area to pay. The lady behind the bar was completely ill-informed of how much to charge us. We stated it was £20 online. She then wished us well as we left for the course.
I appreciate that we'd had a lot of rain around the time we played but the greens were appalling. The worst I've played on for many years. We then got to the 8th hole with absolutely no clue where the hole was as there was no tee box. We found a gentleman on the course who kindly explained briefly how to play the next few holes. But we were still a bit confused and just sort of muddled through.
I can't believe we weren't informed of the temporary holes and greens prior to playing, it added about half on hour onto our round trying to figure out where to go and that's despite being helped by the gentleman i mentioned.
My playing partner and I discussed that we would think very carefully before selecting to play this course again as it was in such poor condition and the lack of information received was, frankly, amateur.
To top it all off, after a hugely disappointing experience, I discovered that I was charged twice the amount I should have to play and, oh my lord, trying to get a refund from this place was like trying to break into a bank! I emailed and I called time after time after time. No response to any of my emails, the times I did get through on the phone I was fobbed off with excuses but then promised they'd call me back. Nothing. Eventually managed to get my refund over a month after we played!!! Quite possibly the worst customer service I've ever received. An absolute joke. Will not be returning
Greens are rubbish and badly maintained
Fairways poor
No diversity on pin and tee placements
No hydration to greens
Pro late opening shop, early golfers not able to get cards
Pace of play.
Groups playing the slowest I’ve ever seen. Even let me play though, I was playing on my own. Overall thou, course was in great condition and would 100% play there again.
Putting on the moon
Course management is terrible, all the tees are facing the wrong direction with unmarked tee numbers. The greens feel like you’re putting on mars
Club does not follow their own policies and procedures.
Absolute joke of a golf club.
I paid £80 for a tee booking and when my accommodation on the Gower was cancelled, I informed the club well within their cancellation period.
Customer service is beyond a joke as I've reached out to them 9 times and either been ignored, asked to bear with them, or told that they don't know how to do a refund on the system.
Complete charlatans in my opinion and I would advise anyone to steer clear.
Recent reviews accurate
Despite recent reviews I decided to play here. After all, the price is reasonable and I used to play here years ago and have very fond memories.
It's such a disappointment coming back. The course layout is amazing and has spectacular views. With minimal effort this course could be fantastic. With some TLC, membership could easily be £1500, instead they'd rather charge £600 and have every man and his dog join. Holes 8-11 is the best 4 hole run, in terms of layout, of anywhere I've played.
Sadly, there are many things wrong with the course.
I arrived at 3pm, wanting to get a buggy. Pro shop was closed.
I'll be honest the tees and fairways were better than expected (given recent reviews) but some of the greens were atrocious and really inconsistent in why they were bad; cracked, muddy, sandy, varying lengths of grass, weeds etc. It made putting almost pointless at times.
Many of the members have no business being anywhere near a golf course of this calibre and have no pride of ownership. This is emphasised by cigarette ends and packets, beer cans and bottle tops that you find on fairways, in the rough and floating in water hazards on your way around. Its disgusting. No etiquette at all being adhered to, from dress code through to people just yelling at their friends on the same hole (which is hugely off putting). Thank god I got out before it got busy! Do not go anywhere near this course at busy times!
I was held up significantly for about 8 holes by a 2 ball....you all know the sort. The kind that takes ages deciding what club to take, deliberating range, takes 4-5 practice swings and then thins the ball 20 yards. Infuriating to be stuck behind. I got so fed up that I ended up driving while they were still on the hole, going about 150 yards past them on their 3rd shot and just playing through them.
When I finished playing I went to collect a scorecard as I'd scored well and wanted to keep a record. The barman came marching at me (I was in the lobby) and tried making me to pay for the round. He wouldn't accept I'd paid online. He asked for my name and tee time, in the end I just showed him my booking reference and left. Its funny that they put effort into trying to intimidate paying customers, but are happy to leave groups of children and teenagers hide in bushes and muck about playing on the course. I could see a 2 ball behind me waiting on the tee for roughly 10 mins before teeing off as they didn't want to hit the children.
I can't emphasise enough how disappointing it is as the course has the potential to be beautiful.

Litter everywhere, even on fairways and floating in water hazards. No etiquette being adhered to; loud players calling to each other (hugely distracting).

Very different course to the one from 20 years ago.
Fairways were in good condition, but the greens are not being looked after at all. I appreciate the weather has been particularly hot, but they were completely scorched and are in desperate need of regular watering.
Gower Golf Course
Played here 3 years ago, conditions were very good however this time greens were in poor condition and bunkers were terrible, stoney, lacked sand, lots of weeds and poorly raked.
Course layout though is excellent with some very challenging holes. Would like to come back but course and clubhouse needs investment.
Do not use Gower Golf Club
I live locally to Gower Golf Course. I used to play it often, almost considered joining in 2019, but I ended up in Pontardawe. I played Gower in 2021 in a team match. The course was in good condition, not what I recommend to someone but it was playable. I went down for the first time in two years yesterday and wow, it has gone down hill quicker than a putt on the 16th at Augusta. To start with, I wanted a bottle of beer, there was none in the fridge. The bar wasn’t even fully open, the male member of staff. Was not helpful at all. I went to tee off, the tee boxes were not cut low and not cut very well. The bunkers, as you will see below were horrific. They were full of stones and rocks. There is no sand in them at all. The bunkers look like the luftwaffe have had a good at them. I also, could not use the bathroom as there was no toilet roll, anywhere. Overall. A horrendous course and clubhouse. Do not play here. Don’t even go down for a pint. What a waste of time.
Very poor condition
The course was in desperate need for the fairways to be cut, and we couldn’t differentiate between fairways and rough. Fairways were also full of daisy’s, combine this with the length of grass, made it very difficult to find our balls even when we hit them straight. This massively increased playing time! To top it off, there were 3 teenage girls messing about on a buggy, screaming loudly and being extremely irritating whilst we were coming down the 17th and 18th (they were not playing just driving around). Very frustrating all round, and if I wasn’t in a rush to get home I would have complained and asked for my money back!!
Great Golf Club
The course was in very good condition for the majority of the holes. Greens were very fast and nice to play on. We took a buggy out which was a great addition and it really helped us with some of the more hilly holes. Club house and facilities are great and the scenery is outstanding on the front 9. I will be back.
Course winter layout not clearly signed, flags were laid out on some greens and not in holes. It was bad weather which can’t be helped but I walked off after 8 holes because of the course not the weather.
