Decent Course
Not bad for a muni. Crowded on the front. Thinned out some on the back. Greens were a little shaggy but putted true.
Greens Improving
The course is bouncing back from the maintenance they have been doing. Greens were punched and sanded over a week ago and are improving quickly. Did not see any Poa annua grass on the greens. Putting was a bit slower but should improve over the next week.
Great staff course in very good condition
Greens slower than I am used to, but overall the experience was fantastic. Headed back later today to play the Oaks course. When on vacation and looking for good golf dollar value this is a great option.
Overall, a good value for the course conditions
Well priced as we got a Hot Deal for the round. The fairways were good, and the layout provided adequate challenge for our level of play, but the greens needed maintenance as the grass on them had not been cut evenly resulting in high and low spots which would make the ball stagger during putting. It also made the greens slower than than the speed we were used to playing. The pace was good as the Marshall kept pushing the slow foursome ahead of us until they let us play through. The signage was poor on some holes as we got lost trying to find one of the holes. Despite some minor issues, we would play this course again.
Pines Course
Acutally was on the Pines Course, not the Oaks.
Pace of play was great. Some of the greens had the Poanna grass which made for some bumpy putts and others had none. Fairways were nice.
Pace of play was great on a Sunday? Well, that has been known to happen but not often with all the morons that play there. Wish a real priority was given on tee times for members but that golf course is only about money.
Needs improvement
The Pines is an old school municipal course that gets lots of play. It has wide fairways and very little trouble other than a few bunkers and ponds. Fairways were hard allowing for plenty of roll. The greens were in rough shape due to weeds and lots poa annua. There is an excellent clubhouse, restaurant, Edwin Watts golf shop and friendly staff. The range was large and there was several practice areas. There are actually two courses located here. I played the other course, The Oaks, last fall. It was much more challenging.
It’s ok
If you don’t care about putting then you will be fine. Greens are over run with crab grass so you can never tell where your ball is going. Won’t be playing again till it’s under control. Staff is very friendly
Great Layout
Only gave a three star condition because of this time of year. The greens were quite fast, much so than normal of years past. However, there was evidence of the verti-cut aeration and a light sanding. This should improve in 7 to 10 days. I hope they keep it cut short to keep the greens fast. Other than that, the course is doing fine.
First day at FWBGC
I was rushed in play and did not enjoy the course. Constantly being pressured to pick up balls and move along. Tee times are too compressed and forcing one to play with strangers.is never a pleasure.
Restaurant closes too early. I was not able to order food after playing a round.
GOOD COURSE FOR THE MONEY
The layout of the course is not bad, but the greens are not in good shape, it makes putting a joke. Other than than that, everything else is fine.
Good municipal course
Good value. Fairway grass grow needed. Lots of hard pan fairways. Track is good for mid to high handicap players.
Course conditions need improving
Overall good. Need to seed the fairways. They are much improved after new irrigation system installed last year but still too thin overall plus there are numerous potholes and bare spots that could easily be repaired - I know because worked on the grounds crew at golf courses for 10 years. Also there is serious erosion on the down hill portions of the fairway on 5 and 16 but worse on 5.
Value for your money
The course is good value for the price. It's a municipal course so if you keep your expectations in check you should be pleased.
Great Balue
Good course that is forgiving for high handicappers. The fairways and greens are in good condition. Turf is thin in spots and some greens need attention but overall great value. Above average practice facilities ( driving range, chipping and putting greens). Staff friendly. We will return next winter.
Golf course
It was a decent course. I think it’s really only worth $25 at the most. Course layout as great but the greens and fairways aren’t the best. Good course to warmup on or for beginners.
Sounds like a fake review to me
