Some improvement at The Pines
Greens are good now - poa annua gone. Fairways generally are good but there are areas that need fixing - especially on # 5 and # 16 in the ash out and no grass areas. There is a bad wash out on # 8 off to the right [as one approaches the gree] to the right of the cart path. Should be an easy fix. Fill in with soil, tamp down and place sod over it and stake it off until the sod is established. They have staked off some areas in some fairways but don't really see much actually restoration work being done.
Pines is a good value
Greens have improved alot. I didn't see any weeds or dead spots on them and they rolled pretty good. Fairways were good too. Pace of play was perfect (never had to wait and nobody waited behind us) and staff was friendly.
Fun course
Great course for the price. Greens in very good shape. Like the layout. Challenging without being overly difficult. A less than perfect drive will not kill you. The back 9 is more fun than front
Course conditions some better but still needs lots of work
The greens have almost healed from aerifying and putt better plus the poa annua is mostly gone from the greens. My main complaint is still the conditions of the fairway and rough on # 5 and #16. They have added some sod on #5 and that is good. They have a large aread staked off on #5 and you cannot drive the cart in that area. They still need to fill in and sod the washed out areas on those 2 holes.
Decent Course
Not bad for a muni. Crowded on the front. Thinned out some on the back. Greens were a little shaggy but putted true.
Greens Improving
The course is bouncing back from the maintenance they have been doing. Greens were punched and sanded over a week ago and are improving quickly. Did not see any Poa annua grass on the greens. Putting was a bit slower but should improve over the next week.
Sounds like a fake review to me
Great staff course in very good condition
Greens slower than I am used to, but overall the experience was fantastic. Headed back later today to play the Oaks course. When on vacation and looking for good golf dollar value this is a great option.
Overall, a good value for the course conditions
Well priced as we got a Hot Deal for the round. The fairways were good, and the layout provided adequate challenge for our level of play, but the greens needed maintenance as the grass on them had not been cut evenly resulting in high and low spots which would make the ball stagger during putting. It also made the greens slower than than the speed we were used to playing. The pace was good as the Marshall kept pushing the slow foursome ahead of us until they let us play through. The signage was poor on some holes as we got lost trying to find one of the holes. Despite some minor issues, we would play this course again.
Pines Course
Acutally was on the Pines Course, not the Oaks.
Pace of play was great. Some of the greens had the Poanna grass which made for some bumpy putts and others had none. Fairways were nice.
Pace of play was great on a Sunday? Well, that has been known to happen but not often with all the morons that play there. Wish a real priority was given on tee times for members but that golf course is only about money.
Needs improvement
The Pines is an old school municipal course that gets lots of play. It has wide fairways and very little trouble other than a few bunkers and ponds. Fairways were hard allowing for plenty of roll. The greens were in rough shape due to weeds and lots poa annua. There is an excellent clubhouse, restaurant, Edwin Watts golf shop and friendly staff. The range was large and there was several practice areas. There are actually two courses located here. I played the other course, The Oaks, last fall. It was much more challenging.
It’s ok
If you don’t care about putting then you will be fine. Greens are over run with crab grass so you can never tell where your ball is going. Won’t be playing again till it’s under control. Staff is very friendly
Great Layout
Only gave a three star condition because of this time of year. The greens were quite fast, much so than normal of years past. However, there was evidence of the verti-cut aeration and a light sanding. This should improve in 7 to 10 days. I hope they keep it cut short to keep the greens fast. Other than that, the course is doing fine.
If you didn't wait on a Saturday, you must have played early in the AM or after 2PM.
