Ocotillo Golf Club - Gold/Blue
About
The Ocotillo Golf Resort sits on 185 acres and features lush contoured fairways that flow gently amid patches of mature trees, vibrant flower beds, pretty waterfalls and numerous lakes.
The Gold nine is a devilish test and not just because water comes into play on six of the holes. The greens have a lot of slope in them and are difficult to read. And some pin placements are brutal; hit a downhill putt two feet past the
hole, and it might roll down into a swale and 30 feet by. Uphill putts, on the other hand, are extremely difficult to get to the hole, if for no other reason than Ocotillo's greens aren't as fast as some of the Valley's marquee desert courses.
Two holes stand out on the Gold: No. 5 is a 212-yard par 3 with water running down the entire left side; and No. 9 is a 468-yard par 4 with a carry over water from the tee -- water that dissects the fairway about 50 yards short of the green and water left to the green. Par there is a great score.
Ocotillo's Blue Course is a watery grave; water comes into play on eight of the nine holes. It's not overly long but there's so much water the length becomes irrelevant. The best hole may be No. 1, a 590-yard par 5. Big hitters are faced with the classic risk-reward: Do they lay-up on their second shot or try to fly a tributary that splits the fairway about 50 yards short of the green?

What happened to Ocotillo?
I used to live in this neighborhood and played Ocotillo weekly and always looked forward to taking out of town guests to this East Valley gem. Not anymore. The course conditions were horrible. The greens were in terrible shape and the fairways were even worse. We paid $150 pp and it is in Prime season so I expected the conditions to be at least average. I don’t expect Troon treatment from the Arcis team but you guys can do better!
Ocotillo Golf Club
Beautiful course. However, for the price, pace of play was horrendous! Lots of goose crap.
Course Fees
I played this course in the past and I paid about 149 for the 18 holes. It just seems odd that I went through GolfNow and talking to the gentleman in the pro shop that he seen the price is a lot higher. I think it really sucks that courses during the week of the waste management open field that they can charge whatever the heck they want because of the golf tournament, which is not fair to regular golfers like myself.
The staff was very attentive and friendly. Thanks
Great value
Oco is fair priced. Difficult course for average golfer. Needs to trim some trees and rescue some bunkers. Its Kierland meets Dobson Ranch
Great golf course
This Golf Course is awesome to play and it’s worth the money that they charged for the golf course. I would play this 10 times over some of these other golf courses here in Phoenix. The staff here is unbelievably great.
Slow round
The course needs senior tees and a marshal to monitor pace of play the lack of playmanagement means we will not be back
Overpriced
$310 for two golfers to play and they still have the nerve to charge you $10 each to use the range. They’re selling point was “well. The balls are unlimited.”There are so many better courses in town that don’t charge you that I will be considering other courses in the future. Review made before I even golfed.
Always an enjoyable day at Ocotillo
Really enjoyed playing occotillo again. As I live in the West Valley, it's been 15 years since I last played it. I find it to be a very challenging course and really enjoy it. The front nine was cart path only as it just reopened from resending. The back nine was to be overseeded next week so it had been shaved down. Accordingly it was a somewhat slow pace (over 4 and 1/2 hrs) but the reduced rate was appropriate for the course conditions and resulting slow pace. Very enjoyable
Good Fun
Once we knew where to go, with three different courses, one being closed, we were on our way to the challenges of the courses and there were many

Hb0vWPUWYA3iOUlHpTnv, thank you for the 5-star review! I am glad to see you enjoyed your time spent out here with us, and we look forward to seeing you again soon!
Nice course but a couple of disappointments
The staff was friendly and helpful, and the course conditions were good. The fairways were in really good shape, but the greens were inconsistent. Overall, still very nice. The driving range is horrible (I give the range a 1 out of 10), you cannot find a patch of grass. They should move the boxes up or just go back to the mats. While playing we did not see a beverage cart once. August golf in Phoenix with no beverage cart is unacceptable. It was never even mentioned that we'd have no support on the course, or we would have grabbed beverages before teeing off.
Dear Cdunn8888,
Thank you for taking the time to share your visit with us, we are extremely happy to hear about the friendly staff and good course conditions. I will follow up with the team to make sure we are communicating to our guests when no beverage cart is scheduled. During the summer months there isn't enough business on the course to justify a beverage cart during the week, but we should be letting our guests know so they can load up in Tillo's before going out to play. We hope to see you again soon.
Thanks, have a great day.
Best,
Jeff Ruedy
