About
The Ocotillo Golf Resort sits on 185 acres and features lush contoured fairways that flow gently amid patches of mature trees, vibrant flower beds, pretty waterfalls and numerous lakes.
The Gold nine is a devilish test and not just because water comes into play on six of the holes. The greens have a lot of slope in them and are difficult to read. And some pin placements are brutal; hit a downhill putt two feet past the
hole, and it might roll down into a swale and 30 feet by. Uphill putts, on the other hand, are extremely difficult to get to the hole, if for no other reason than Ocotillo's greens aren't as fast as some of the Valley's marquee desert courses.
Two holes stand out on the Gold: No. 5 is a 212-yard par 3 with water running down the entire left side; and No. 9 is a 468-yard par 4 with a carry over water from the tee -- water that dissects the fairway about 50 yards short of the green and water left to the green. Par there is a great score.
Ocotillo's Blue Course is a watery grave; water comes into play on eight of the nine holes. It's not overly long but there's so much water the length becomes irrelevant. The best hole may be No. 1, a 590-yard par 5. Big hitters are faced with the classic risk-reward: Do they lay-up on their second shot or try to fly a tributary that splits the fairway about 50 yards short of the green?

So sad
This has been one of my favorite golf courses in the valley for 30 years. It was always in phenomenal shape and such a joy to play. Unfortunately, either new management or lack of budget. The courses went from a five star course to one to two star course very sad like I said this was once one of my favorites, but not anymore.
Way over priced
I’ve played here for over 30 years and have never seen the course is such bad shape. Little things not being taken care of. Bermuda grass way overgrown around cart paths, and in the rough. You can definitely tell they are not spending the money to keep the Course in the shape that it has been in in the past. Very sad to see this beautiful Golf Course looking terrible. And un maintained.
Feels like being cheated.
No range, no use of the putting area or chipping area as it was over taken by kids lessons.
Front 9 cart path only which Made play slow. Very wet conditions on tee boxes and around the greens , greens slow and furry after overseeding.
Back 9 burnt to a crisp greens like putting on concrete.
Very hard to adjust from front to back 9.
Just can’t justify the 94dollars for that type of round.
Played way better for half the price.
Arizona courses yet again just want as much money as they can.
Said I wouldn’t recommend this to a friends and I mean right now but overall can be beautiful course.
Wait a while
The course conditions are nowhere near good enough for what’s being charged. I understand that overseeding season is upon us, but $130 for the course as it is today is robbery. It’s worth about $50 today. I am sure it will be fine in a couple of months.

Course was in good shape for late August in AZ. Only complaint was still lots of debris scattered around course from the Monsoon a few days back

Good course. Very slow.
In decent shape. Plays slow and no ranger anywhere which was brutal on a hot day.

Good not great
Tee time was 9AM and we got out early. Was nice since it was so hot. Pace of play was really good and finished in 3 hours.
Some tee boxes were in bad shape and really wet. Most of the fairways had really wet and spongy areas. Ball would collect a bunch of mud.
Greens were in good shape. Ball rolled as expected.
Stayed for lunch afterward. Staff was really great.
Overall a good day for the money.

Great conditions. Uneducated staff.
There was no attendant at the bag drop, the starter hadn’t showered and thought he was funny with his tacky sayings. He was not. The cart lady didn't care if we were getting ready to tee off and just rolled up on us multiple times. The worst was the marshall who apparently doesn’t golf as he would come driving up and down the cart path while we were trying to take our next shot. They need to learn some respect and not disrupt us when we are addressing the ball.
As far as the course goes it was in great shape except lots iof the traps had water in them.
I would recommend the course and also recommend that the staff be forced to take some golf etiquette training.

Always Challenging
I have played this track many times but not for a while. I stayed away due to the fact the course was always covered in goose poop and not well cared for.
I was very happy to see the course in such good shape this time. Clean greens and well cut fairways and no goose poop!
This track is not for the faint of heart it is tough. However, if you play well and manage to save a ball or 2 its like conquering a dragon.
I really like playing here but one small yet important point. If you're teeing off at 6 am and the bar is supposed to open at 6 am make sure the bar is actually open! If you're not going to provide a couple bottles of water in the cast like most places at least be sure I can buy a couple before I ride off into 100 degree temps. I teed off at 620 the bar was still not open. Im somewhat of a germaphobe so the water jugs on the course are useless.This is really the only complaint I have but its kinda important.
I will play again..

This was my first time playing here. Took my 2 boys and had an incredible day. Everything about the course was awesome. Water on every hole so wasn’t easy but couldn’t ask for better course conditions, great staff, great amenities and an awesome experience across the board. I would highly recommend this course to others and will be back very soon!

Attention all Arcis Prime Members
Attention all Arcis Prime members: Avoid this course like the plague. Greens are terrible, overpriced and understaffed (nobody in the clubhouse until 5:45 for a 6am tee time). Get a real golf course that knows how to manage a little heat, Palm Valley is in excellent shape, the staff is incredible and is by far the best bang for your hard earned dollar.
