fun track to play
Course was in fairly good shape, a mole issue on one green and some minor issues with a couple of others, but overall they rolled well. Fairways were in very good shape, Tee boxes were OK
Great track
Played on a cool morning, Course & greens were in great shape for winter golf. Can’t wait go do it again.
Good layout
I’ve played here a number of times. Course is a little rough but worth the great rate we received.
course on way back from huricane
fairways have been reseeded and filling in nicely. Greens are reseeded and filling in nicely, however, are slow as they have not grown in sufficiently to cut down to playing height. If you wait for 2 months this course will be fine otherwise be careful to pay under $25 and expect slow greens.
Greens Terrible
The greens are terrible. When there is grass, it is so long that you have to slam the ball to get it to the hole. The balls do not run true at all. Many times the ball was on the right track to the hole but did an immediate turn just before the ball was supposed to go in. The fairways are improving but still need a lot of work. I would NOT recommend this course in the this shape
Weather Related
Because it was cold the course was fairly M/T resulting in a quick round -
Golf day
Value golf day, greens were fair condition a little slow putting speed tees and fairways could use some TLC lay out fun just relax and enjoy yourself
disapointed
This course was closed for rehab for over a year,, been re-opened for nearly a year,, no grass on tee boxes, just weeds,, over dry fairways, weeds and dried up fungus on most greens...
I fear for Grenelefe
I've been visiting Grenelefe since it reopened in 2002/3 and have known about their financial difficulties since then, but they've always managed to keep the course in a decent state, I was shocked to see how far it's been lost this year, I know there's been a drought but the tees are nearly just dirt, fairways are bare and the greens (which for me were always really true) are on the brink of being lost. It's such a shame because this course has a great layout and when it good condition is one of the best I've played, I really do hope they get the much needed investment required to turn the place around. For now, it's in a sorry state.
Greenlefe then and now
I first saw greenlefe about 15 years ago and it was in a dilapidated state. With the closure of diamondback I tried greenlefe and I was pleasantly surprised at how much I enjoyed it.it is not in terrific condition but for the time of year the greens , though some were patchy ran true.the layout is very good and it is a pity more money could not be available for the overall resort,
However I enjoyed the experience and for the price I would encourage anyone to go and try it
I play off 10 and I work at gleneagles in Scotland.
South Course
Fantastic layout. Some great holes. Would love to have played it when it was in good condition. Looks tired at unkempt now. Tees and fairways in poor condition although the greens were good and Ball rolled well on them.
A Different Experience
Obviously as it was our first time playing any of the Grenlefe courses we didn't know what to expect. Considering here we are in Florida the course was empty! Okay like all Florida courses at the moment experiencing gross drought conditions, I'm sure the fairways and tees could have been better but the greens putted well and the overall round was very very enjoyable. We would have liked a coffee beforehand but the bar didn't open till noon. Hey we enjoyed it and for the money it was superb. It might be a drive out of Orlando, but it's worth it!
Needs Rain!!!
Played the East course last time and it was pretty rough. This course had better greens, and the back nine fairways, less 17 and 18, were nice. Front nine fairways were poor at best. Like most every course in Central Florida right now, it needs rain. Haven't had any in months!!! The greens were in good shape. We had a 7:45 tee time, and the pro-shop was not open when we arrived at 7:15. The cart guy sent us off with a clean cart. With some rain, this course should be in excellent shape in a month or so.
