Good Deal
OK Course for the money spent with GolfNow.com.
Would not pay their rack rate for the condition of the course. East course might be in better shape, but south course had no grass on tees and some fairways were questionable. Greens were great.
Worst course ever olayed
This is the worst course (south) I have ever played in Florida. Tee boxes were all dirt, the fairways were grated and barley any grass on all of them. The sand traps were over growing with weeds and the course needed mowed. Had I not drove from Tampa to play this course I would have turn around and left. Horrible club house and horrible course. Paid $34 to play what resembled a cow pasture. Really disappointed...first and last time I will ever play Greenlefe!
terrible fairways
Greens in great shape and it ends there, fairways, tee boxes, green edges needed mowed. Not my first time there but the worst I've seen it and they re charging premium green fees.
Wishing them the best
This place has a very ominous and surreal feeling. The drive through the neighborhood feels like you're on a cart path or someone's private driveway. The exterior building and clubhouse itself feels like it has literally been transplanted from 1985. My playing partner talked about how the West course used to be one of the top courses in the area right alongside Bay Hill. Of course, this is 30 years later and being that the course is in the middle of nowhere, it has felt the effects.
We played the South course. The day before we played we got a few inches of rain. The course handled it well and was not too soggy, so that was nice. The greens were also in excellent shape as others have mentioned. Due to the rain and the fact that the greens weren't mowed very low, they were slow rolling. It's obvious that all the income for this place is being sunk into the greens. The course conditions were otherwise not good. Lift, clean, and place is about your only option, and the placing will likely be on a weed unless you move the ball 15 yards to try to find some Bermuda. Bunkers are washed out and not maintained. I understand not being able to put a bunch of money into a course in general when the play is suffering, but don't understand how a green can be in such great condition while the bunker is so neglected. Run a tractor through them in the morning to at least give us something playable. Course is pretty challenging overall, lots of narrow fairways with OB on both sides, and water comes into play often too. No "turn" after 9 holes, it's out and back. No beverage cart either, but not a huge deal there.
Other than the greens, the other upside was the staff and the pace of play. We were just a twosome and played easily in 3 hours since it wasn't crowded at all. Value is decent at around $35 for a morning round, but factor in gas money as well if you don't live nearby, and you probably don't unless you're a member here. Staff was great, very friendly and talkative, but almost in that old-man, days-gone-by way. Felt like we were talking to them about old war days when discussing the course. Hopefully the recent reviews about improving course condition is a good sign, but I'm definitely concerned for their future.
enjoyed the course
greens in very good shape fairways reasonable considering changing season. would go back
Greens in good condition
The course was fun to play. The course is fairly open but some holes are tight and some holes have water coming into play.
It has been dry recently. The greens were in excellent condition. The tees were not in good condition. The fairways varied in their condition. Some fairways were fine while others had very little grass.
OK course
Good value for the $20 I spend. Fairways are fair with some bare spots. Greens good but were inconsistent. Great staff, very helpful and can't do enough for you. No beverage cart so purchase whatever you need before going out as you do not get back to clubhouse till 18th hole.
Neil B
Enjoyed the day, pace of play good took about 4 hours. Greens good but a little slow, fairways and tees pretty bare in places but overall a good day.
Green leaf
I liked it a lot, greens in good shape but grass long
This course is on its way back
The greens were as healthy as I have seen in Florida this winter. They were a little slow but when the greens super starts to lower his mowers they will be great. I play this course once a winter and I noticed a marked improvement over last year. There is evidence of money being spent here on a number of fronts. Clearly this course is on its way back. Play it now while the course remains good value. The price will be inching up with the improvements, and so it should. Great to see the changes.
Great course.
Greens were excellent. Fairways in fair shape for this time of year. Plan on playing it again.
TERRIBLE CONDITION... REALLY AWEFULL
All fairways have almost no grass on them. The tee boxes are actually a joke....weedy and uncut. The greens look good but are extremely slow ... rolling around 5. You have to really pound it to the hole!!!!
I'll never play here again and will spend my hard earned money on any one of the other thousand options in Orlando area.
Nice Course, best greens in Poke County
Pleasantly pleased with the greens, great shape. Enjoyed the course, can't wait to play there again.
Fun day
The greens were quite lush running a bit slow, but we were glad to see actual grass having played a different course where grass was scarce. The layout was fairly open, but still had some challenge to it. We waited on some shots and had a group of men behind us waiting, but the overall length of the time to play was decent.
Very nice greens!
Fairways were a little ruff, Greens were in great shape. Friendly staff, lots of restrooms on course.
Have played this course before and will play again.
Don't go there
We played the south course on Monday, 2/15. The greens were lush but slow. The tee boxes and fairways were lacking grass. Many tee boxes only had dirt/no grass. The only good was that we played with a couple from Cyprus who were a lot of fun. They also said they would never play there again.
Avoid this course
Arrived in lot and no one was available for assistance.
Went to pro shop, paid and went out to find starter. None available. Grabbed a cart and loaded up. Finally found outside staff, grumpy old man who asked where I got cart. Told him I located it in lot near pro shop entrance. Stated" Oh I wish you hadn't done that" I explained that at most courses, with no one available, you load your cart and head to the tee. He stated" Well we don't do that around here" That is for sure, because with staff like him and sparse, bare fairways, I will never return Greens were fine, 7 on scale of 10
OK course needs a little work
We went on a cold windy day , not too busy . Greens in good shape , fairways needed to be cleaned .
Would not come back to this course
Tee boxes, sand traps and fairways were terrible. Greens were in pretty good shape, but that's about it. Played better courses for less money. The course was challenging and the layout okay, but just in really bad shape.
good layout
with five sets of tee boxes its a fair test for all levels.
