Moose Ridge Golf Course

About
Moose Ridge Golf Club sprawls across rolling hills blanketed with mature trees and accented with colorful wildflowers. There are more than 90 feet of elevation changes throughout the course, but there are more challenges than the hilly terrain. Well defined bunkers lurk along the greens and acres of wetlands come into play. It's easy to get distracted on this visually stunning golf course, but it's a test that requires all of your attention. The first hole is challenging but gentler than the next three holes, which is one of the toughest sequences in the area. The second and thrid are long uphill par 4s and the fourth is a narrow par 5 with a marsh-protected green. Moose Ridge Golf Club's back nine opens more gently but the respite doesn't last for long. The 15th is one of the most challenging holes, starting with a tee shot over water and followed by an approach to a narrow green.

Great Conditions but Layout simply Awkward
Curse is in great shape and the greens roll smooth and fast. Too many holes are simply awkward at best. No landing areas for basic 220-250 yard drives and bunkers and woods in places that simply are not "normal" Love the clubhouse. I may go back but not one of my go to places
Moose Ridge
Very nice course in great condition. Challenging layout that requires accuracy and the ability to bring the ball in high to greens. Forced carries will penalize the short hitter or low ball hitter. Greens were fast and undulating. My only issue is the bugs where fierce, they made about 3 holes almost unplayable. Staff was friendly and helpful, would go back - definitely.
Beautiful and great staff
It was an all around great time at Moose-Ridge, if South Lyon wasnt so far away I would play here regularly. Great Staff, beautiful course and great speed of play.
Pace of play
I booked this round after hearing/reading great reviews about the up north feel and the good course conditions and they were true, but the fun stops there. A friend and I waited until the night before to book a twosome because we don't enjoy playing with people we don't know. We are not antisocial, quite the contrary, but golf is about rhythm and introducing a new golfer to the mix messes with that. Our playing partner was quite nice but he really played slow and affected our pace. It would have been nice to have the option to decline. When we got there they touted their gps on the carts, but it didn't really come into play since 10 out of 18 holes were cart path only. How a course with minimal rain in weeks in mid June could be cart path only on 10 of 18 holes is beyond me. None of the holes in question were wet at all. Playing late Friday afternoon I was hoping to get something to eat at the turn but there was no option to order something hot at the number 9 tee box. The restaurant looked a little busy too I figured I could get something good at the end of 9, but I was wrong. Only hot dogs, and pre made turkey and ham sandwiches with no condiments available. Waste of $7. Throughout the round was unable to get any Rythym due to some holes being able to drive to my ball, other holes trying to guess my yardage from 75 yards away and a slow playing partner we didn't book with. It really put a damper on a round I was looking forward to playing all week.
3 minutes late
Took my daughter and wife out for a Friday twilight round. We hit a few balls at the range and were 3 minutes late according to the starter. He promptly put a 5 some, yes three carts in front of us who's tee times were 15 minutes after ours. They had the last tee time of the day, wasn't very busy at all. I had to beg to go off the back side in order not be waiting as you could imagine. When we finished, I asked the GM why they would even let a 5 some (3 carts) go off at one time and in front of a three some, he began lecturing me. Not what I call a family atmosphere. I have never given a poor rating before, but I would want to know this information before coming out to a course. The three of us play a lot of golf with lower handicaps and yes, should not have stopped in the clubhouse to use the facilities before checking in with the starter. 3 minutes late.
Wonderful Course
A friend raved about the course so I was going with high expectations and wasn't disappointed. Very fair but challenging course in great condition. First time playing the course but definitely one I want to play a lot more times. Really enjoyed the layout. Great greens to putt on.
Greens exceptional!!
Moose Ridge grounds staff have really hit a high point this year. The course is in fantastic shape with the biggest improvement being the putting surfaces. I have played here for over a decade and never seen the greens as good as they are now. Get out there during the 2017 season and take advantage of the perfect course conditions.
Great Course!
This is the second time I've played this course, and it was just as good as the first. Nice up north feel, well maintained, scenic, and definitely challenging. This course makes you think about each shot and has a lot of high risk high reward opportunities. Placement golf should be the mindset. Will be back to play again and again.
Beautiful Course
Beautiful course. The best course I've played on in Michigan. Offers fairly narrow fairways and approaches to the green which makes it a challenging course. Lot's of smart iron work and good putting to score well here.
very challenging
Great track!! This course was very scenic and the trees and foliage haven't even bloomed yet. We will def return this summer. Fully interactive GPS on carts is a great amenity!
Excellent course
Love this course, comparable to Shepard's Hollow as one of the top few courses in metro Detroit. Value is also great, always a great deal on golfnow as well. Will definitely be going back this summer.
Great course condition!
Some of the best course conditions I've played on! Granted I lost a couple balls but that's because it's challenging and I love a good challenge! Great job Moose Ridge!
Not Handicap friendly.
On our group golf day at this course, we had a group of 8 players which two players were handicapped in as much as they could not walk long distances. Asked if they could accommodate them by disabling the carts GPS to allow a closer proximity to their ball. We were told no and after emailing the course, I was given the reason of preserving the course was more important to the owners than giving the few handicapped players a good time playing with there friends ( thus is what it amounted to in my mind). The course was not wet and only a few fairways were cart accessible. I will not return as well as my fellow travelers. They should take a lesson from Glendarin.
With or without carts this is a walk only course
The course is made into a walking only course by around 75% of the holes being cart path only. I walk a decent amount of my rounds but when I do get a cart I expect to be able to use it. Not only is it cart path only but it is overbooked and extremely slow play that the course does not show any interest in alleviating. The carts have the GPS that slows them down even when the hole is not cart path only so you do most of your fairway driving in reverse. For anyone that wants a casual cart round please do yourself and your sanity a favor and stay as far away from this place as possible.
Good Golf Day
Very nice course and great weather for this time of the year
One of the best courses in southeast MI
Such a nice course to enjoy golf. It's the 4th time in October or ever since, was impressed at the 1st time golf here. Very friendly staff. I also enjoyed a little walk with the 90 degree rule, good exercise. Beautiful scenery in the autumn.
Nice course, wish they would have mentioned they had just aerated.
First time playing Moose Ridge, course layout was fantastic and pace of play wasn't bad for a Saturday afternoon, but I don't understand why some courses don't feel the need to let you know the greens had recently been aerated. At least if I know, it's my choice putting on a Chinese checkerboard, but when you step on the practice green and see that, your expectations for a good round instantly depart. Will be back, but will check on the greens first.
Beauty, Charm, and Challenge
My wife and I played Moose Ridge on October 23rd, in about 60 degree weather. Absolutely beautiful layout and good conditions as well, for the most part. Greens were quick, but not overly so, and they rolled true. This is a course I could play again and again, and I hope to do just that.
