Located less than an hour from Tampa and Orlando, LakeSide Golf & Country Club in Inverness has a unique and scenic setting with four holes that play around an abandoned phosphate mine. The challenging layout will test you with long par 5s and a slew of doglegs. Unlike some of the flatter, marshier golf courses you'll find throughout Florida, this layout has rolling, wide open fairways and large, undulating greens. Be prepared for more than 50 strategically placed bunkers lurking along the greens in addition to well placed smatterings of tall oaks and pines. The rough can also be very punishing if you're errant. There are some challenging holes but it's not overly daunting; beginners and casual golfers will still enjoy the golf course. There is also a driving range available at LakeSide Golf & Country Club.

Hidden gem
I've lived here 5 years and never gave this place a try. I thought it was a beat up country course. I was impressed. The greens were nice and the fairways decent. The layout was great. Lots of dog legs and a few blind driving holes. The views on the course were beautiful. I can't wait to go back.

Good pace of play. Course in okay shape. A few burn spots on some greens. Nice layout.
Second Review
I have been playing this course, usually several times a week, over the last several months. I have to say that the course is filling in very nicely and the faculty clearly are putting in the effort to get the course in the condition that it was in its prime. I look forward to seeing a few more areas filled in better with grass.
Nice Round
Pace was good. Weather great. Course in pretty good condition. Greens nice fast pace. A couple of greens with burned out areas but you find that on most public courses at this price point.
GolfNut
Maintenance could use some TLC as is true of many small town Florida courses. The folks were friendly and the pace of play was great, so we enjoyed our round. The course was not perfectly manicured, but we did not play the price of a perfectly manicured course.
LakeSide Gem of a Challenge
The course layout is wonderful, however most of the fairways consist of dirt. The potential of this course is unbelievable.
We love the course but not the condition that it's in. We will continue to support Lakeside ❤️ they are so accommodating.
