Golfer Reviews
Its January
Open fairways, moderate length, with some challenging greens and green complexes.
Course was in winter shape--brown fairways but that is to be expected.
We paid a fair price through golfnow--$39.
Very nice course to play in late December. We will be back. We are from Indiana.
Good round, quality course
We played a round on the way down to Florida. Challenging and playable layout, had a good time. We are 20+ HCP , but felt it was fair all the way. Pace was good, too. Cart has the high-tech tracking system, but ours stopped working on #12. Every hole after we could see but no more tracking (well, though we were on 12 tee permanently, so often said we were 800 yards from the hole, haha)
Planes and Oranges
Yes, you can practically see the pilot's eyes as they are landing the planes over the course. It's actually pretty cool. The course was in good shape for winter. Played the back tees so the course played pretty long for me. They also have a great 9-hole par 3 course I would recommend. Also found an orange tree with perfectly ripe oranges.
Nice
Played here 4 months ago and said we'd never come back. Tried it again and what a difference. Greens are all in great shape and run fast. Fairways a little thin , but that time of year. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Only complaint is the bumpy cart paths. Several portions just plain need dug up. Driving on sand is much smoother than a ride on a chewed up cart paths.
Crosswinds
Bermuda grass has gone fully dormant. Course was in good shape and dry. Pace of play was good finished in 4 hours on a weekday with letting a few singles play through.
Course
Cousins great as usual. Just wish the guys in front of us would fix their holes they left on several t boxes after they shank one. Totally unacceptable.
Very much recommend this course
Very challenging. Greens and fairways are well kept…
Crosswinds Is a Good Value
Crosswinds Golf Course, right near the Savannah airport, is a good value for the money. The course is generally in good shape, although some low-lying areas don't drain very well, and tree roots are an issue in some places. The greens are usually smooth, though not too fast. No starter/ranger or beverage cart on a weekday. It would have been nice if the snack bar had been open to get a hot dog and a drink at the turn without going all the way back to the clubhouse. Other than that, not much to complain about here. The range now has shot-tracking capabilities, too!
Great course with many features
The course was great with variations of holes. Slow play because of marshall so went around players. They furnish water bottles and ice. The golf shop has all the items we would need including clothes and shoes. The hitting range has the available of using their Top Tracer equipment but does require a fee.
Disappointing day
This is a nice course and almost always an excellent experience. Today was disappointing. Normally golfers monitor themselves and are courteous if they are slow, so rangers aren’t necessary. Today was different. We were stuck behind two very slow groups, including several very new golfers, and a couple sharing a bag. No rangers. I would think they could monitor carts from the clubhouse and send someone out to move things along. My other frustration is the tee areas sodded earlier this year we literally broke tees and ended hitting off the grass. Sad that such a nice course actually made things worse with an attempt to upgrade. On the bright side, other golfers told me the new range area is really nice.
