If I could give this course zero stars I would. We walked off after three holes. It was that bad . I read the reviews and didn’t believe them, but they were accurate
Course needs work
Professional staff was great and extremely friendly. The golf course layout is pretty good. To be fair I played the course after a huge rain so it was extremely wet. The fairways were probably the best part of the course. The tees and greens are in bad shape and will require resodding on every green. They were close to unputtable. The cart paths are in terrible shape… I know because it was CPO and I felt like I had been off trail over rough terrain all day.. The course really should not be open until they get the greens repaired. The course should be good because of the layout. I hope it improves.
I don't get it
The greens have not been good for years. I accept that when I choose to play at Southbridge. However, now the approaches to almost every green are over watered, mushy and unplayable. The grass cutting machines come and dig up these mushy areas. I don't get it.
Will not return
Worst greens I’ve ever played. I used to love this course but it’s unplayable now. The greens need to be completely replaced. It’s sad to see. I hope they put the money into it, it’s a fun track.
Every green was in disastrous condition plus one green was closed and had a temporary green. This course should have been closed. I feel like you shou
You should have known that was the case. I never would have booked there had I known. I believe that I should receive a refund because the condition was so bad.

Course codition
This course needed to have on line that the course is under restoration, last summer or drought hammered this course. Layout is awesome, people and staff are the best. Greens are virtually unplayable. I would return when everything eventually grows back.
Beware- greens are AWFUL
I have played this course many times in the past. I lived in Savannah for 44 years until moving out of the state about five years ago.
I was visiting Savannah and my son and I went to play the course, $135 for the two of us to play with a cart. The fairways were littered with weeds, the roof was just as bad.. drainage issues and soggy mud balls everywhere which is odd because they're in the middle of a drought and it hasn't rained in forever. But the star of the show was the greens. These things are absolutely horrendous, sand, potholes, raw dirt patches rocks, weeds.... I enjoyed spending the time with my son however, the golf was pretty awful. Hopefully they will get it all figured out by next year.
Too bad
First time here, dropped a friend at the airport and stopped here to play 18 before heading to Florida. Everyone below me has said it all, not a single green was puttable. Other than that, I loved the course, lots of good holes and obstacles to navigate.
Management should shut it down for 1 year and go all temporary greens- do a flat rate of $25-/round. Halifax Plantation down in FL did that and I played there almost every week...that course is beautiful now. Just do it.
Potential
The course has potential to be good but even with the hot deal, $15 was still not worth playing here. The greens are not puttable, not a single one.
Had fun
Right now the greens are in very bad shape. They’re being worked on, but I figure it’s going to be a work in progress for the rest of this year. The rest of the course is in pretty darned good shape.
This is my neighborhood course, so I’ll continue to play there and support it in spite of the greens. If they can get those worked out this year it’ll be a really fun course.
It’s been 3 years still not fixed
As a person very local to Southbridge that’s been playing it for the last 20 years it’s wild to me this course can’t seem to get back on track and find an investor to help them make the needed repairs. It’s been 3 years since the greens have started going downhill, it’s not from drought (golf courses have irrigation systems) and it’s not some hard winter freeze at least not this past winter so don’t take those excuses at the desk. MOST golf courses if the greens were just plugged and sanded will tell you before paying and reduce the rate, not at Southbridge they charge the full amount and send you on your way thinking the course is in great shape only to find out you won’t be working on your putting game this round knowing very well their greens are the worst in a 100 mile radius.
If the drought caused this or a hard winter freeze you would think more area courses would be experiencing the same situation but there not because we play, Black creek, Crosswinds, Sapelo Hammock,Eagle Point, Rosehill, just to name a few we’ve played this spring and we’ve yet to see this same situation at other courses. Matter of fact many local golfers are very put off by the lack of urgency to take care of the green situation so now it’s causing 2 issues.
1. Because southbridge is unplayable it’s overloading other area courses, other courses are now shortening the interval times between groups to get more golfers in a day to accommodate golfers but we all know that means conga lines of carts all down the fairways and waiting at every tee boxes which makes for a very frustrating round.
2. Wear and tear on the other courses because of the extra cart and foot traffic because the other courses are picking up the slack. So now all our courses are seeing heavy use but not Southbridge, matter of fact when we played yesterday (our once a spring did they fix it yet round) we only saw 2 other groups all day so A+ for pace of play but it’s because it’s a ghost town and your skipping the putting portion of your game so if you want a lightning fast round then this is your place.
This course needs new management bottom line, 2-3 years of the same issue of the greens being non playable is unacceptable and it truly has been that long, don’t let them sell you that this recently happened. I’ve also talked to a local Head greenskeeper who is very well known in Savannah and asked him why he doesn’t apply to help bring back this Rees Jones course many for years have considered a personal favorite, his reply “Members have way too much input as to what goes on at that course and suggestions hit a brick wall so I saw no point of being part of that team.”
When we stack up at other area course tee boxes golfers talk to each other and a big topic is Southbridge and what it’s become and what it used to be back in its prime time, many of us just don’t understand what’s going on because the other courses are all improving yet this once gem of a course quickly falls behind. Many of us think they’re trying to drive it into the ground so whoever does own it now sells it and we will end up with more homes being built on the land that once was a great course, the LAST thing Savannah needs!
Needs work
I used to live in Savannah and played Southbridge many times back then. It was really disappointing to see how bad the greens were on just about every hole. Terrible damage a ton of sand. I was disappointed that I wasn’t told ahead of time about the greens and being charged full price for the round. I really hope they get it back in shape. It a nice course when maintained.
Greens under repair!!!!!
This course for me is unplayable right now. Unfortunately, I didn't check the courses website before booking on golfnow. The course has a disclaimer on their website that its under repair right now but $35 which was a hot deal was still a little too much to play here right now. 95% of the greens are not puttable. They have crews working to repair them but they are so far gone, dead, and diseased right now it may take a while to get back to even decent enough to play on. Avoid at all cost right now. Give them 6-12 months.
Greens
The greens were in pretty bad shape. I would have been pretty bummed if I had paid full price for that. Hopefully they get thru the drought and things pick up.
