Lake Jovita Golf & Country Club - North Course
About
Lake Jovita Golf & Country Club offers two championship courses, the North and the South. Both courses sprawl across a verdant landscape covered with mature oaks, lakes, and ponds. The terrain is unusually hilly for Florida. Like the South Course, the North Course is undulating with a lot of movement but it has even greater elevation changes than the South, which provides scenic views of the surrounding community. On a clear day, golfers can see at least five miles to the northeast from the second tee. The North has a more modern layout that plays a little bit longer. Although the golf courses are nestled amongst rolling hills, Lake Jovita is situated just 30 minutes north of Tampa. The unique hilliness of the courses and their convenient location have made them some of Florida's must-play courses.

No Ranger
The pace of play was like watching paint dry I passed 5 foursomes after that it was wide open. I think I will not play resort courses this time of the year.
Lake Jovita Golf
My wife & I had played the North Course twice before and enjoyed it, this time we got an excellent “Hot Deal” so decided to play it again. We arrived early and the very friendly Starter said the North Course was very busy but he would get us out on time, but if we wanted to we could play the South Course and go out early as it was quiet. We said yes as we hadn’t played the South before and we both enjoyed it and think we preferred the South Course to the North Course, it was a little bit slow on the back nine as we were a 2 Ball but we were round in just over 4hrs.
We would like to thank the Starter and will definitely play Lake Jovita again (either course) and recommend it to others.
Great day of golf
Found an afternoon special and played the North Course. Enjoyable round, great conditions and finished in just under four hours.
My favorite course in the Dade City area
North and south courses are in great shape. Fun layout with fast sloping greens to test you. Make sure you play here!
Beautiful Course in Beautiful Neighborhood
This is a beautiful course. It was expensive to play IMO but well worth it. I would keep coming back here. I was the only player on the course, I'm assuming due to cold weather. The fairways are immaculate and greens very well maintained. The only reason I'm not giving my review 5 stars is due to the perceived lack of golf etiquette from the grounds staff. It seemed like there was a gentleman following me around on each hole working on the green of the hole I was playing. This didn't really bother me except that he would not stop working his tractor even as I was hitting my approach. By about the 5th hole I just hit into him and if he got pegged it was on him. The other part I found annoying is that grounds crew kept working even if I was near them getting ready to hit a shot. Given my level, this would not normally bother me but it felt like on every hole I was listening to mowers and leaf blowers prior to playing my shot. Certainly not enough of an inconvenience for me not to have a great time but for the price I paid to play, I was hoping they'd be a little more courteous.
Top Florida course
This is a beautiful Course and should definitely be on your play list.
Great course. Excellent fairways and excellent fast greens.
Beautiful course, nearly perfect lightning fast greens.
Not a Typical Florida Course
I come from NJ to visit FL once or twice a year for the past three years, and each time I visit the Tampa area, I make sure to make the trip up to Lake Jovita to play the North course. Unlike most FL courses which are flat and the only interesting topography involves water, Lake Jovita North actually has elevation changes, tree lined areas, slope, and just a visually appealing architecture. Add in a little challenging length, and this course is more than worth the reasonable price tag. And I’ve always found the staff to be very friendly and accommodating. Not the best choices with food during a round, but that’s the least of my concerns when golfing. I’d recommend the course for anyone looking for a well maintained course that offers something a little different for FL.
Great with few flaws.
I have previously played this course and have had a great time every round I have played. The more I play the more I notice about it. One flaw that I noted about this course yesterday was that there are no ball washers. i know this may sound like an odd complaint and maybe I was just missing them but this was sort of off putting. Overall the course was in great playing shape and the greens rolled lightning fast.
Enjoyable Game
I thoroughly enjoyed my game but pace of play was slow. The day after Thanksgiving may be the reason.
We also had to change carts toward the end of the game as ours was dying. This has happened to us before. They need to address the cart situation.
Challenging course
Play the forward tees course is rather long lots of water the greens were in lightning fast but overall I really enjoyed playing the course
Great course
Fantastic course. T boxes ,fairways, greens are perfect.
And greens are FAAST!
Everything Was Perfect
Played the North course and it's in great shape. Rye has come in well in the fairways. Greens are very fast and rolling well. I've played this course at least 50 times and this is the best overall condition I've experienced here. Compares very favorably, if not better, than all the other high end courses in the area.
If you've never played here, not your typically flat course as is the norm in the Tampa area. Lots of rolling hills (small), non-flat lies. Depending on pin locations, can have upwards of 8-10 foot breaks on putts.
Lake Jovita North Course
My wife & I played the North Course for the 2nd time today (1st Time was 2 years ago) and again enjoyed ourselves. The Course was in good condition although a little damp in places and the greens were very good. The staff were very friendly & helpful. We will definitely play here again and hope to try the South Course.
great course layout
I have played this course several times now, and have always enjoyed it. The course is in great shape now, with the overseeding having grown in. I think the fellow setting the pins today must have got up on the wrong side of the bed this morning- pins were tough, in sloping areas of the greens, making it almost impossible to leave the ball close to the hole. Good for tournament play, but greens fee players? Takes us over an hour to get there, we will be back.
