Lake Jovita Golf & Country Club - North Course
About
Lake Jovita Golf & Country Club offers two championship courses, the North and the South. Both courses sprawl across a verdant landscape covered with mature oaks, lakes, and ponds. The terrain is unusually hilly for Florida. Like the South Course, the North Course is undulating with a lot of movement but it has even greater elevation changes than the South, which provides scenic views of the surrounding community. On a clear day, golfers can see at least five miles to the northeast from the second tee. The North has a more modern layout that plays a little bit longer. Although the golf courses are nestled amongst rolling hills, Lake Jovita is situated just 30 minutes north of Tampa. The unique hilliness of the courses and their convenient location have made them some of Florida's must-play courses.

One of the best public courses in TPA area
North course is that good good! Open holes, great condition, besides the plugged greens... but this is one of the best around.
A Must Play Course....
First time playing the “North” course and I had a great time. The course was fun and challenging at the same time. The course was in excellent condition. The greens were running “true” which make it fun and frustrating at times. Overall, I had a great time and look forward in coming back to play.
Wide open spaces
Nice course, greens were fast and true. Not your usual flat Florida course. Plenty of room to take a full swing and a fair course where it is possible to score well.
A Lovely, Challenging Course
Lake Jovita North, With its wide fairways, undulating fairways, and a bit of elevation presents a pleasant challenge for most golfers. It has just enough water to make you nervous but overall a lovely designed layout. One of the best courses in the Tampa Bay area.
Serious issues
A return to the facilty by the son of the owner has produced predictable results. Weeds infest the fairways and the landing area on 18 is mostly dirt. Some bunkers are not maintained at all.Not so honorable son does not care,he has stated such, and that a jewel in the area is being run down and that play will suffer as a result. The course needs new ownership by someone who has a sense of pride and honors the game rather than greed for more money from golfers. Truly worth only $35 to play,
Player player
The course need some work. This was the worse condition I have ever seen this course.
Best in pasco
If anyone says different they are insane. World woods can’t hold their shoes
Great Layout Horrible Condition
Such a shame. Bare spots everywhere. Approach to just about every hole was bare. Sparse grass on fairways and rough. Exceptional layout. Conditions look like a poor municipal course. Shabby greens.
No way to get food at the turn
Nice course with a fun layout. Fairways were in nice shape. Some bunkers need work. Greens were erated and not very true. Made it difficult to putt well. After the first 9 holes on the North course there was no place to get a drink or food. 10th tee box does not go anywhere near the clubhouse. Would have been nice to get a drink with the weather being in the mid 90's
It is a great course...
They just missed on informing customers the greens had been aerated recently. Which is a big deal. Club house under construction/renovation. Not a big deal for me.
I will keep on coming back as it is such a great course.
Great
Course is in great condition, fairways are good, greens are fast and holding shots. We'll worth playing, one of the better layouts in the area.
Jovita Never Disappoints
All I have to say is get out there, splurge the extra 20$ for the round, course is pristine. It's such a enjoyable, fun, test of golf. It's a true Florida gem.
Amazing course and views
Amazing golf course. I felt like I was in the mountains instead of Florida. The course layout was great and conditions matched. A few greens had some rough spots around the edges but didn’t effect anything, same with the fairways but overall very nice. I’d give the course 4.5 starts if an option. Warm up area with driving range and putting green. Our pace of play was quick for a Saturday at 9:30 and course was tough but fair. I will definitely return back to play the north course again and I want to play the south also!
One of the Best Tampa Bay Courses
Lake Jovita North is a wide, but challenging golf course. It is always I have excellent condition, and offers many challenging holes with a little bit of elevation. Be aware of I’ve even lies and will play sand traps. Check golf now and you will often find a reasonable green fee.
Chaos
We started nearly an hour late as there were no fully charged golf carts. The cart they gave us died after 5 holes, ,and we carried and walked for nearly an hour in the summer heat waiting on a replacement cart.
On the course itself, it is a super layout with above average greens, but it is clearly showing its age - especially the bunkers, which were puddled and overgrown with weeds. Probably the immense scale of the property overwhelms the limited maintenance budget.
Nice folks working the carts - the issue was aging cart batteries plus a drunkfest 8:30 shotgun where people were just finishing at 1:30+.
Too bad - it is an amazing layout.
Great not Perfect
I want to first start off by saying that I was highly recommended to play this course by multiple other people that I have played with in the area. After playing the North course today I can absolutely see why people talk so highly about it. Upon arrival I walked into the very nice pro shop and was greeted by a friendly Staffer. As I made my way up to the starter I really appreciated the large practice green they had before moving on to the first tee. The starter was extremely friendly and allowed myself as well as the people I got paired up with to go out early so we could beat the rain. The course was in very good shape and the greens rolled firm and fast. There were many holes with elevation changes which was a breath of fresh air considering the flat landscapes of other courses. Very few holes had catastrophic danger that could cause the scores to shoot up. There were also some holes that had a very interesting layout as well as natural features like large mature trees in the middle of the fairway (10, 11). The reason for my title describing the course as not perfect was because I did encounter a couple spots on the fairways that were dry and patchy. I want to emphasize that this did not happen very often and overall the fairways were in extremely good shape. I had a great time playing the course this afternoon and will definitely be back not only to play the South course but the north again as well.
Dodged the rain at Lake Jovita
Played the North course at Lake Jovita. Got around in four hours as a 2 some.
Greens appear to be aerated a 2-3 weeks ago but are rolling true with no bumps and very quick.
The greens are holding.
Course is in good condition with some wet spots and bare spots.
Come play this Carolina style course you will not be disappointed.
