INSULTING GOLF DIRECTOR!!!
A Ping promotion led me to try out a new golf club. The Ping representative was very accommodating and told me to go ahead and try it out. As he was also helping another customer, another person came up in back of me (learned later from an employee that it was the Golf Director) and started insulting my swing. As I took another swing or two, he said "Would you just stop moving around!" in a very nasty tone. I was astonished and I had not asked him for any advice or help whatsoever. I actually am recovering from Vertigo and occasionally have lightheaded spells- the reason for slight imbalance at times. The "director" then seemed to turn away in disgust as apparently it was not the perfect swing he has. I put the club back and walked away in amazement that the course would employ such a person. It was totally unprofessional and it made a very bad impression on the employee I told as well as the four-some I was playing with. This certainly can't be the first time this person has come under fire. Unbelievable!
Directions
Great course. The golf now directions don't bring you to the golf course, this was very frustrating for someone visiting the area. Call the golf course to get the true address.
The New Shell Point
I have not played at Shell Point in the past five years and decided to play there this week. What a great experience!! They have made so many positive changes to the course. Liked it so much that we went back the following day. What a great experience, I highly recommend!
Tight, tight, tight.
Overall, Shell Point is a good value based on the firm , fast greens and greens fee. Traditional Florida target golf. In years past, the carts were equipped with GPS. I was disappointed in the fact that these carts are no longer available. It would have been helpful on the tee and some greens.
I play golf when I come down to Naples and Shell Point is a perennial in my golf rota.
Nice course, decent value
Well maintained course,, true greens but not overly quick. I played at a hot deal rate, but don't see many discounts for this course lately..
Shell Point
Quick play with challenging holes, plenty of water and sand. The greens were well manicured. No GPS on cart but smooth electric.
Not worth $60 a round
Tee shots from black tees are stupid. No landing area. Tight beyond tight. I am a 5 handicap and have played a dozen courses in Fort Myers and this was one of my least favorites. No room for anything. They crammed a golf course into a retirement home. Play here if you want to, but there are numerous courses I would pick over this one for less money.
Shell of a good time
Sharpen your aiming skills and get ready for some major decision making when you tee off at Shell Point. There's plenty of water and a couple of holes, some of it runs through the fairway forcing you to man up or lay up. The greens, which according to my playing partner were completely re-done, roll true, hold shots and most were fairly large in size. The fairways were pristine. The best part of Shell Point was my playing partner, George, a regular at the club. Not only is he a great golfer, but a great guide and historian of the area.
Shell point
Great facility course in great shape beautiful greens Head Pro Has this place running very smooth
Be warned no beer
Course is tight but well manicured. However I have never ever been to a golf course where you could not enjoy a beer. Golf is a social game as well.
Very Nice Course With Tee Boxes For All Abilities
We were pleasantly surprised with this course. Pro shop is in a double wide trailer, but course was in excellent condition and had a lot of character. We will definitely be going back to this one.
Excellent conditions
We played this course for the first time. Our group was the first one out in the afternoon so there was no one in front of us and the pace was excellent. They send groups out from both the first and tenth tees. The greens were in excellent condition. The fairways were good too. There are narrow fairways so it's not the type of course where you can spray it around. We would play it again.
Sunday @ Shell Point
I have played Shell Point and will play here again. I always get paired up with friendly golfers, and the course is comfortably challenging to my skill level
First time playing in Flordia
We had a great time. We were teamed up with two othe players and chose to play from the yellow tees. Many holes have water on the sides of the fairways which was a potential problem if you weren't a straight hitter. Also there wer some holes on the back nine that had streams running through the center of the fairways which seemed to be right at my drives landing point. I wish I would have reviewed the yardage book before I aggressive on the yellow tees. Be prepared to lose a few balls!!
Very Nice
Unique and challenging. Very good condition. 4 hour round. Not the typical Southwest Florida course.
Interesting
Course in excellent condition. Greens were quick but, putts roll true. My group played from the white tees which makes it fairly short but, still very challenging. Every tee shot requires accurate placement. There is plenty of trouble for the wayward shot. The first time here is definitely a learning experience.
Good Saturday round
Almost a real golf course, no houses around.
The nature around the course is a bit poor, specially on the first nine.
From yellow and black tees it is really challenging.
All over all good value for the money $ 45,-/single, but practice ball, 80 pieces for $ 11,- is crazy.
Driving range as usual was poor, although it is very easy to make a real goodie.
Worth it
I always enjoy playing this course. It is in excellent condition; fast greens. As is the case with most SW FL courses, there is water on virtually every hole; mostly lateral. Some fairways are a little on the narrow side. Multiple tees permits 'adjusting' the course to one's skill level. Light traffic most of the year and reasonably priced, especially through GolfNow. It is a trip for me from Estero, but I look forward to it when I get the chance.
Hidden Gem?
I can't believe it's taken me this long to give this course a try. With it being in a retirement community I assumed it wouldn't be worth the time. But, I was pleasantly surprised. Not only is the course beautiful, it provides plenty of challenge for the low to mid handicapper as well. The course is currently in pristine condition. I do believe they allow walking her as well and I would certainly be interested in taking the journey along this picturesque track. I really was blown away by this layout.
