Lovely Scenery Photo submitted by studeku on 01/23/2015
Nice Shape
Course is in excellent shape. Greens are slow but role very true and in very nice shape. They have a sign saying greens are 9.5 but they were much slower than that. Belonging to a club where greens are always a 11 or so is a big adjustment. A definite must play
Nice course but overpriced
Well maintained. Nice fairways. Greens perfect.food and beveredge almost non existent.
nice course
Nice course. Challenging but fair. I would recommend that golfers play from proper tee box. Forced carries off some tees.
Good hard greens and good value for in season golf
Fair priced golf and can be a bit challenging for the first time to play the course. Lots of water and canals across the fairways. Greens are kept very hard I sure to avoid damage from heavy play.
Will play again but probably in summer and see if greens soften.
Nice Corse, Nice people
Fair course where you have to hit your targets, Very women friendly. Not much of a clubhouse and limited food selection.
Best greens
This is a very good course with some very challenging holes but the green were some of the best we have been on. Price was fairly high but over all experience was very good.
Challenging course with lots of water!
This is a tight, challenging course with lots of water (16 holes) and some pretty tight fairways. The course is in good shape; the greens are especially nice this year. An excellent value with very reasonable greens fees. Good tee times can be hard to come by; it's a busy place.
Nice Course
Had a good time playing this course. Was happy that the fellows I was teamed up with had played the course before and knew about the hidden hazards. Yes there are tombstones on the tee boxes indicating the distances to the hazards. One just has to know.
The course was in very good condition, the pace was great, the staff friendly, the scenery lovely. I will play there again.
Good course layout
The course layout was a challenge and played out well.
The fairways were a little frayed and needed to be preferred lies.
Nice track
Tees, fairways, greens all excellent. Course layout challenging. The only negative was the wait at 10 due to cross-overs and no beer.
Best deal close to fort Myers beach
We'll worth the $ to play. Finished under 4 hours with a foursome. Marshall's keep pace of play up. Fantastic layout , excellent conditions and true roll greens. Can't say enough about this course.
Problems of a short crowded course.
The course was fine, no issues there, the problem is that some holes are less than 300 yards. When the group following can reach the green from the tee and the ball flies by, twice while you are putting, you are constantly looking over your shoulder.
The Marshal, when hearing of the problem said "at least they waited until you reached the green". If this comment reflects the attitude of the Shell Point management I suggest that you add to your golf equipment a hard hat and the phone number of a good personal injury lawyer. Someone is going to get hurt.
my favorite course on this coast
It was a true pleasure to play this course again. The greens roll true and the fairways are comfortable to hit from. My 3 wood loves it there because it behaves better and it's my most difficult club. Try it you won't be sorry you did.
Very strong shot makers course
Put the driver away and play for position. Greens roll true and can be quick down grain. Pay attention to the hole layout markers at the tee deck as some hazards are not obvious from just looking down fairway. They do a cross over in the morning so first nine will be quick but second nine can be slow.
Really fun quote to play.
Nice course with several different difficulty levels
Green were great and course was in good shape.
For the price a must play, can be difficult if playing the back two tees!
Shell Point
Had a wonderful afternoon. Course was a good pace and we were done in 4 hours. Nice course.
An interesting challenge
Played 2 days in a row. Played tips the first day( a little confusing first time) and an educated hybrid second day (tips except 7 holes where I moved up a tee- just too hard or far- holes 2,3,7,11,13,14,15 ). You need to hit it where you aim(you will lose some balls). Greens are great. It is a challenge and plays harder than it's slope and rating, but I enjoyed it. Course won day 1- I won day 2.
Good time in Florida
The course is a little tricky. Do not take it for granted. The greens were the finest I have ever played on. No small feat
A weird little course
I decided to check out Shell Point as I was down visiting family and a local said it was a good experience. I'll get some things out of the way quickly. The staff was very nice and friendly, the price was decent, and we played on an EXTREMELY windy day. First of all if you are looking for a good range before your round this is not the one, you're basically hitting balls into a field of weeds, but on a good note it is a grass range not mats. The course itself is crammed into a small chunk of land so it is very (and I mean very) tight off the tee with trouble usually on both sides (usually trees/brush/jungle on one side and water on the other). While the greens and tee were in great condition I found the fairways to have more than a few bare spots especially as you moved closer to the rough. The highlight of this course has to be the greens which rolled about as true as they possibly could. My biggest gripe deals with hazards crossing the fairway. Shell Point has more than a few hazards that cut through the fairway off the tee (or second shot) but without a yardage book, a sign saying how far the hazard is from the tee, or at times even a stake/making to laze navigating those shots is pretty much happenstance (and on a windy day even tougher). Overall Shell Point wasn't a bad play, but the little things this course ended up lacking really put it down a notch for me.
