Scotland Yards Golf Club
About
Scotland Yards Golf Club, as its name implies, has a traditional links-style layout that is reminiscent of the traditional links courses of England and Scotland. It offers the experience of classic Scottish golf with the convenient of being only 20 miles north of Tampa. The golf course tumbles across the gently rolling hills of west central Florida. The course plays long and it features wildly undulating greens that require tremendous accuracy. True to its links nature, there is little water but there are plenty of pot bunkers treacherously lurking throughout. The signature hole is the par-5 second. At 554 yards, it is the longest hole on the course and it is only rarely reached in two. The demanding third shot is uphill to a green that is fiercely guarded in front by two massive mounds and pot bunkers.

Scotland Yards definitely getting better
I've played at Scotland Yards for the past several years, and the course is in the best shape it's ever been. The greens are smooth and run true, and the bunkers have all had new sand added to them. The cart paths still need some work though. I think the word is spreading about the course management undertaken by the new owner, as there has been an uptick in players during this "snowbird season" The people behind the desk are friendly, and for lunch their burgers (generous size and fresh ground beef) are delicious . All in all, a good experience golfing here, and fast becoming one of the best values in the area.
Course Is just fair at best
Course was just OK. Lady at Proshop for check in was rude and not helpful at all. I arrived early since I wasn't sure exactly where course was located. When I walked in she was talking to another employee and a local resident about someone in the community (sounded like gossip to me)- both employees totally ignored me - after 5minutes of awkwardness- I finally said "excuse me I'd like to check in". With an annoyed like she said "when's your tee time - I told her ( i was 40 minutes early) she said "oh your a Golf Now tee time - I can't check you in yet AND RETURNED TO OTHER CONVERSATION without any other information!! Had I not been on a non refundable tee time I would have left right then . Am certain I will not be back!!
Great course! Great burgers!
Course is in good shape, greens are true and fast, great value for the money.. after playing had lunch there with my friends... best burgers I ever had. Overall great experience.
Its what I can afford
I live in Zephyrhills, Florida. I have a moderate retirement income, so I have to watch what I spend on my golfing. That said, I look for courses in the $20 to $30 price range. Golf Now gives me the tools to find special deals for my golf habit. Scotland yard fits my need very well. Thank you
Rude pro shop
The people in the pro-shop here very rude when I said that I booked with golf-now. We were at the course fifteen minutes before our tee-time and were told we would have to wait fifteen minutes to get our cart keys. The owner of the course did nothing but complain about golf-now, how he was getting ripped of by golf-now.
Scotland Yards
Course not great condition.
Ok for $23 but would not go out of my to play it
New Owners, Great Condition
It's been several years since I played this course and immediately noticed the difference. The Pro Shop was not farmed out to a subcontractor so their was only a few shirts, shoes and balls available. That said the staff was middle-eastern and very friendly. The course had plenty of grass for this time of year(dry season). The greens were plush and well kept. The bunkers were nicely manicured and had plenty of sand. Overall, excellent value for the price paid.
Course has come a long way
Course has improved greatly in the past 2 years. However, pace of play between 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. is extremely slow. A course marshall is desperately required. Greens and fairways are in great shape compared to 2 years ago. Cart paths need some work as they are quite rough, and is now affecting some portions of the fairways.
Much improved
New ownership has done a wonderful job bringing this course back. Greens are in great shape. Fairways need more work Good value for the money.
Tee Boxes, and greens are in great shapes, sand bunkers have abundence of white beach sand, NOT hard packed sand. Fairways are good. Will play again!
Early Morning Fog
Had a golf now hot deal for 7:07, crazy fog for the first five holes. The fog on the par 5, number 3 was like being on another planet. Great pace, greens were in good shape. Besides the fog, it was an excellent day at the Yard.
Great fun course
This course is a lot of fun I've been playing it for years. The staff is very friendly to us being younger golfers. The course is very forgiving with miss hits. The new owner has been doing a great job improving the course. The new golf carts are great!
New Ownership
This is my home course. New Ownership has taken over and you can see the early improvements right away. Some new staff, the Pro Shop is not as cluttered, and the food has improved. The course will take time, but glad to see it happening.
Outstanding course, great staff!
The course is in outstanding condition and the staff (Rick, Kathy, Barb, and the owner, Mr. Omari) are top-notch. Mr. Omari has put a lot of money into bringing the course back to pristine condition., and he's also made many updates to the clubhouse. I HIGHLY encourage folks to dine here on Fridays, as the owner is also a Master Chef!! You'll not find a better course on which to challenge your skills---play here, and you're hooked! Awesome course with amazing scenery on many holes---lots of hills, great view of the ridge, etc. Cheers!~
The course has 5 par fives which are reachable
I have been playing this course off and on over last 4 years from Nov through April. This is the best shape I have seen it. A lot of work done on clubhouse. New owners have made a difference
Good course
I have no hesitation in recommending this course. Has a few challenges but generally a good course for everyone. Course was in good shape.
Great Warmup Round
Always love hitting Scotland Yards, its a great course. Weather your wanting to hone your game or just have a nice relaxing round of golf.
Depends on what you're after
Clubhouse is beautiful. Golf course is weird. The front nine looks like it was hastily crammed in as an afterthought. Cart "paths" are nearly treacherous. I think I lost my spleen on one of those bumps.... But, it was inexpensive and a day of golf beats just about anything else...
Better than 3 stars
I was hesitant to book this course because of the 3 star rating it had at the time, but I think this course is much better than that. The front 9 is a little weak, but the back 9 has a lot of nice hole with a good challenge. Overall, the course was in good shape and we moved through fairly quickly. I'd definitely play here again, no doubt about it!
Great Links course in Floida
Played here again a couples of times last month, after not been there for over 2 years and I have to said, I found my self with a great surprise, the course have a new management/Owner who I understand was a former LSU player, he and his team have turn the place around 200%, Greens are fast and smalls, fairway have very well maintained grass, bunker with plenty of soft sand, Club house redone completely and an amazing chef on the restaurant. I can not wait go there again, play a round of golf and have an amazing fillet mignon!
