Scotland Yards Golf Club
About
Scotland Yards Golf Club, as its name implies, has a traditional links-style layout that is reminiscent of the traditional links courses of England and Scotland. It offers the experience of classic Scottish golf with the convenient of being only 20 miles north of Tampa. The golf course tumbles across the gently rolling hills of west central Florida. The course plays long and it features wildly undulating greens that require tremendous accuracy. True to its links nature, there is little water but there are plenty of pot bunkers treacherously lurking throughout. The signature hole is the par-5 second. At 554 yards, it is the longest hole on the course and it is only rarely reached in two. The demanding third shot is uphill to a green that is fiercely guarded in front by two massive mounds and pot bunkers.

Course is rustic, fun layout.
Played as two ball in 3 hours. Very fair for the price. Didn't rush and able to work on some swing problems. Area has had a lot of rain but course still very playable. Greens playing 8.5 to 9.5 and rolling fairly true. Greens quite receptive. Fairways links like and very playable. Some tees in very rough shape but use of tee negates tee condition. We had an enjoyable time in spite of the oppressive heat. Plenty of drinking water on the course to keep hydrated. Service in the clubhouse was excellent though not many people in attendance. They have a great hot dog and we love the cold Red beer. If your looking for Augusta National, it's not here. But, if you want a friendly atmosphere, a fun layout to play and work on your game, fair fees, friendly staff and cold beer, then Scotland Yards is worth a visit. We were happy to get out and play and have some fun.
Good course that coule be maintained better
The layout is good, but the fairways and ruff were more weed than grass. Greens were in decent shape, but they are loosing some around the edges. Could be a great course if maintained better.
Fun and Interesting
Played this on a whim, and wasn't disappointed. A true Links style course in FL! Natural grass fairways and tee boxes make the most of the natural terrain, which features natural water, and elevation changes. This course is very much fun and plays a relaxed game of golf.
If you expect your course to look like Augusta, I'm not sure why you are playing a links course, and this one is not for you. Fairways are natural grass, and I saw just about every variety found in FL. Likely these fairways also are not watered very often (less need with that green selection), so they roll very well. Course is VERY WELL mowed and forgiving. Greens are SOFT and very fun to put with lots of personality. Course would do well to cater to walkers, since this course more than any other I played would be a fun walking course.
Will play again, very remove with great views and vistas and a relaxed game of golf is hard to find these days. Thanks!
Local play
First time to play here. Great layout. Only trouble was locating first tee. Course not in best possible conditions but greens held nicely. Will play again. Love the hills and the great has carts!
Scotland Yards best days have come and passed.
Our family and group of friends have played this course quite a few times over the last several years, but we have never seen the overall course and cart paths in such poor condition. Whether it be due to the recent downpours or the actual lack of efficient course maintenance, it is rather unsatisfying to see where the quality of this course has gone. Most of the greens are pitted or starting to look like mud flats, the cart paths look more like dirt roads or off-road adventure trails, and the course markers are almost non-existent. The fairways and tee boxes seemed to be in the best condition, so I'll give credit where credit is due, but that only made the entire day seem rather sub-par (no pun intended). The older gentlemen at the pro shop was pleasant and courteous to speak with, but our encounters with the female bartender and late shift pro shop attendant did not fair the same. Our bartender was cordial to say the least, but seemed to be more annoyed or bothered by our company while just eating lunch and watching TV. Once we had received our food and drinks, she proceeded to turn her back to us and lean up against the bar. No interaction and no interest for any sort of communication. She mine as well have left the bar and went back to the kitchen because it wouldn't have seemed any different. The second pro shop guy seemed to be completely attached to his cell phone to the point that he was either unable or unwilling to even recognize a single person entering or leaving the facility. He was so interested in playing with his phone, that he literally wouldn't even pick us head to even look. I thought that the pro shop and restaurant/bar staff were supposed to make you feel comfortable and welcomed so that you would want to return, but maybe I've got a different understanding of customer service. Our free lunch consisted of a decent size hot dog, plain Lays potato chips, and a drink of your choice (beer was $1 extra). If it wasn't for the small lunch and drink, we would probably have said something more about our experience. We all really hope that this course bounces back because there are not very many Scottish/English Style courses around.
This course was pretty nice considering the price
Course was pretty nice and the fairways were in good shape but the were not to good.
This course needs serious attention
My son and two grandsons who are 6 and 10 years old played on Fathers Day at this course. Even though we really like the people who work there, we will probably not play there again until conditions improve a lot. Fairways were bad, and almost never any good grass. The greens were full of weeds and in desperate need of attention. There are red ants everywhere and they were actually getting on your legs if you stopped to hit a ball. I mean ants everywhere you looked. We have played her several times in the last year or so, but this course has steadily declined in conditions. Too bad, but you really need to put something back into a course if you expect it to be used. Very few people playing there.
This course as great features.
This is a very scenic course. It goes from low land to high land views.
what a shame
We only paid $7.00 to play but should have got some change back. This course used to be a decent track but has gone to the dogs. The greens were terrible and the fairways were like a cow pasture.
the course is very dry
the course is good for your beginner. the course conditions are dry and hard.
Mike T
The course was in fair condition. It was a little dry. Seems like they are trying to keep the water bill down. Otherwise, in good shape and not very crowed. Of course it was about 90+ degrees. I guess that's why I got the $9 rate. No one in there right mind would be out under those conditions. It is a great value and nice staff. I look forward to playing it again soon.
Very quiet......
Fairways are dry and sandy but get some good roll. Very tranquil surroundings and greens are not bad very rolling and a bit more challenging than the overall course. Definitely a good value.
Greens were in bad shape
Tee boxes had very little grass - was mostly dead looking as well as the rest of the course - cart lanes were full of holes - lots of ant hills - generally in poor condition.
Getting brown...
I have played this course many times, but it is getting brown, and it needs watering badly!!!
Dying of Thurst!
The fairways are well on there way to becoming dust. It appears that water has not been applied to them since the "Great Flood".
Tee boxes are small and should be fairly easy to maintain, however they have successful failed to maintain even these ant infested mounds. Green have more weeds than grass.
Turn out the cattle on this thin pasture!
terrible but fast
really rough shape but greens were ok...still playable and enjoyable with greens being pretty good
Scotland
nice course played well and had a quick round on my own
Great for practice
Sure, the fairways are a bit sparse, but for the price it is well worth the round.
The course was in excelent condition
My wife and I play here often , Its close to home and affordable.
