About
Lake Wales Country Club boasts a classic Donald Ross design that players of all skill level will enjoy. Built in the 1920s, the golf course has a different look and feel than most modern courses. Rather than exaggerated hazards and dramatic contouring, the layout blends seamlessly into the natural landscape. The routing of each hole was determined by the existing contours. Like many of Ross' designs, the phrase "hard par, easy bogey" holds true here. The layout features small greens with crown centers that are sloped back to front. Rough borders the fairways and the wide-openness of the course means that wind will often be a factor. Lake Wales C.C. is a challenging but straightforward golf course. There are no trick holes but there are several holes that will make you think.

Lake Wales
A little gem halfway (almost) from East to west coast of Florida, definitely worth a stop. Finally pulled in for nine the other day and was pleasantly surprised. Beautiful oaks and rolling hills. We were behind a group of collegiate walkers and they kept a decent pace even tho we were a twosome. Will def go back when crisscrossing the state.
Not long
This is a nice and friendly golf course. It is only 6003 yds from the back tees. Wide open fairways and not a lot of water. Has a few sand traps. You can score well here. Definitely playing this course again next year when I'm down here.

Pretty good conditions for this time of year.
Greens drying out and patchy on a couple of holes, they had been aerated and were bumpy.

Great layout but conditions have gone down hill over the years. Apparently course has been sold hopefully new owners put some money into it
This course has open fairways.
The fairway and rough conditions need some improvement and attention. But the greens were generally good but fast. The course has open fairways and was overall a very playable design. A good value for what I paid and I would play it again.
No starter. Group of 28 ahead of us playing a scramble. Taking multiple first tee mulligans and playing five somes!
1/2 hour late teeing off.
We did play in 4 hours, though.

Course was great. People friendly. Pace of play was less than 4 hours. Many fairways had large areas with no grass.
Temper expectations
Played this course once last year so knew what to expect. The course winds through a community and is an interesting layout. I rated everything as average because it was, but got a good hot deal rate so was worth the money. Decent local course but not worth traveling a distance.
