About
Lake Wales Country Club boasts a classic Donald Ross design that players of all skill level will enjoy. Built in the 1920s, the golf course has a different look and feel than most modern courses. Rather than exaggerated hazards and dramatic contouring, the layout blends seamlessly into the natural landscape. The routing of each hole was determined by the existing contours. Like many of Ross' designs, the phrase "hard par, easy bogey" holds true here. The layout features small greens with crown centers that are sloped back to front. Rough borders the fairways and the wide-openness of the course means that wind will often be a factor. Lake Wales C.C. is a challenging but straightforward golf course. There are no trick holes but there are several holes that will make you think.

This course has open fairways.
The fairway and rough conditions need some improvement and attention. But the greens were generally good but fast. The course has open fairways and was overall a very playable design. A good value for what I paid and I would play it again.
No starter. Group of 28 ahead of us playing a scramble. Taking multiple first tee mulligans and playing five somes!
1/2 hour late teeing off.
We did play in 4 hours, though.
Some rough looking greens.
Fairways in tough shape.
Course was great. People friendly. Pace of play was less than 4 hours. Many fairways had large areas with no grass.
Temper expectations
Played this course once last year so knew what to expect. The course winds through a community and is an interesting layout. I rated everything as average because it was, but got a good hot deal rate so was worth the money. Decent local course but not worth traveling a distance.
Quick Round
Had an 11:30 tee time. Pro shop suggested that go off before a group of five foursomes Worked out great for me as a single as I was able to play in under 2:30 hours. Home before two.
Would play LWCC again
Played LWCC for the first time this week. Course is basically wide open off the tees for the spray hitters but still requires accurate approach shots to the greens due to numerous bunkers. Greens looked nice and rolled consistently hole to hole. Enjoyed the course layout and would have loved to see and play the course years ago when in its prime. Sadly, fairways need some growth to fill in the numerous bare spots and sand traps could use some attention too. Golfers could also help by doing a better job of filling their divots with sand provided on carts. Cart paths and just the general appearance of plant growth along course could use some attention and refreshing as well.

Course was in great shape minus a few spots here and there. The greens were excellent and fast to test your putting skills. Overall a good course that’s driver friendly!!
Perfect day
It was a perfect day to golf, but unfortunately they had a 5 some ahead of us and they were the last group of their 30 golfers. Had we realized that before booking we would have went another time. All in all the weather was great and the course was in better condition that it was 3 years ago, but still needing some work. Would play it again if the price was right.

Course is in excellent shape...would golf there more often if the prices were better.
