The Club at Eaglebrooke

About
Eaglebrooke, located in Lakeland -- halfway between Orlando and Tampa, is considered one of the premier golf courses in Florida. Its classic links-style design with over 100 feet of elevation change is unique in this part of the state. Natural lakes, abundant with wildlife, can come into play on eleven of the holes creating both spectacular scenery and challenging golf shots. To increase the challenge, there are six sets of tees on each hole. The "seniors" tees were customed designed for the course by architect Ron Garl. Garl requested Senior Golf Magazine to survey seniors for optimal playing preferences and then included these requests in the course design. The atmosphere is first class and the course features bag pick-up at your car. Eaglebrooke was the first course in the US to use Greg Norman's GN 1 grass, the fastest growing and greenest grass available.

Exceptional Layout
Have played several Ron Garl designs, Eaglebrooke is his best and most creative . Just a handful of " gettable " holes, it is a challenging track. My brother ( course superintendent) from Kansas was visiting and he was very impressed. I forget the young man's name in the pro shop , but he was extremely courteous and professional . The final 3 finishing holes are as tough as Copperhead and Fox Hollow . Well worth the drive from Palm Harbor and 35 bucks on Golfnow was definitely a bargain.
Don’t waste your time or money
Had read some good reviews ahead of booking and looks nice driving into the gated community. But, the pro shop staff said nothing of the greens being sprayed with Roundup in prep for shutting the course down in a month to convert greens. You couldn’t keep anything on the greens. The tee boxes were all chewed up. Pace of play was bad - husband and wife and 2 kids playing in front of us would not let 2 of us through. Deliberately slowed down just to irritate us. We quit after 8 holes because there was no way we would have come close to finishing before dark. Should not be charging the rates they are given the course conditions and it about to be shut down for 6 months. Would not go back here.
Insanely fast greens
Played this course many times. I have never seen greens this fast or firm. Rumor is they are tearing them up in April. They were borderline ridiculous. Tee boxes were in bad shape too. That said I really love this track.
Poor greens!
Considering we paid $110, full price, the course was in very poor shape. Tight, bumpy greens. Rough tee boxes everywhere.
Currently, not good value for the money!
Ongoing Renovations (Beware)
This is usually a top quality course. Unfortunately, they are preparing to undergo major renovations. The greens were sanded and I wasn't going to write a review, but it should be noted today (3/19/25) they posted that maintenance has started browning the greens and to expect drier/ faster greens through April 7th. I would highly recommend skipping this course until they complete renovations.
Eaglebrooke
Absolutely would play this course again. I held back on my rating for course conditions because the tee boxes where all in fair to bad conditions relative to the price of the fees paid. I am thinking lack of rain. All in all, one of the better courses in Lakeland
Always a great round!
They are getting ready to shut down and bring the course back to its former glory but it was great value for this course, that offers every challenge you want in a course!!! Always have a great time playing here with my friends
Fun, challenging course.
If you want a challenging course do not miss this one. Not a boring hole on this course. Certainly not meant for a beginner golfer. As much as I really like the course the conditions could be a little better. Especially some of the tee boxes are in rough shape. But the layout and beauty of the course make up for its condition.
5 hour rounds aren’t fun
We were paired up with another twosome which was great and they were fine.
But…Group of 4 ahead of us was over a hole behind the next group, called in after 9, the ranger came out and told them to hurry but nothing really changed. Ranger said that the one ahead of them was almost 2 holes behind the group in front of them too! Ugh…
Waited every shot on every hole all day. 5 hour round….
Great Recommendation 👍
A fellow player recommended the course and it was a pleasure with the friendly and courteous staff and it was a terrific layout!! They will be reconditioning the greens this fall to help with a already healthy recovery. Enjoy the ride!!
One of my Favs!
At least the 3rd time I have played this course. Always on the play list when taking a golf trip to the area. Greens were not as good as I'd hoped but it is February and still super fast!. Love the challenging layout and the finishing hole. Will of course be back!
Good course, nice design with a lot of doglegs and of course water on one side off most holes so stay to high side as they all slope to water. Apparently they sand the greens every Monday so avoid that day and probably Tuesday. Will come back later in the week while still here.
Good practice area to warm up.
Thank you for the great feedback! We hope to see you return in the near future!
