South Course at Big Cypress Golf & Country Club
About
Big Cypress Golf Club is part of a gated golf retirement community called Cypress Lakes. Conveniently located between Orlando and Tampa, the club offers two golf courses, the North and the South. The South Course is a championship layout that is more challenging than the executive-length North Course. Both courses are characterized by the abundance of water and swaying palms, offering the best of Florida golf. The South Course plays a long 6,680 yards from the back tees. The course presents a more demanding test than the North, appealing to more advanced players. Florida Golfer and Senior Golfer have recognized its challenging layout for its excellent conditions and design. Maintenance is a top priority at Big Cypress; on both courses the well manicured fairways and greens are consistently in good shape.

My favorite one
This is by far my favorite golf course in Lakeland.
Dry Conditions
The course and area was in a dry spell. Most of the local water pool and streams were very low of dry. However, fairways and greens were in very good conditions. The greens were slow by my standard measure and at times were not consistent. The greens were true except for the few holes. Dry rough so very easy to get it up and out. I would play again.
very nice layout and course was in great shape. Greens were a little slow but that was the only complaint.
This course was in excellent shape. The day I played there was a shot gun start because their were so many people. this is a retirement community afterall. only took 3,5 hrs to complete the course. Greens were like carpet. THE FAIRWAYS were also great. THe best value for the money.
Big Excitement!
This is a well laid out course for all skills due to the multiple tee options. It's a beautiful course with green always in excellent condition! The rough, as with all central Florida courses, could benefit from some rain. The staff is excellent and the course will not fail to impress! It's a hidden gem in North Lakeland.
good golfin
great greens, fantastic course, pro shop quick and courteous, only negative is that starter and course ranger need some people skill lessons regarding proper tact when speaking to customers.
Must play
This course is always in good shape and the greens are some of the best kept in the area. If you never play it you are missing out.
Big Cypress
Very nice course. Love the layout. Finishing four holes are very tough. Greens are in great shape, but if you are used to Northern grass it will take awhile to learn to read them.
Big Cypress Lakeland
Would be nice if this course offered more than one Hot Deal This course is one of the best in the area
Excellent greens / good fairways very challenging
Nice little course
Tried Big Cypress South for the first time. I think I will have more success next time I play it now that I know the layout. Often drove the ball through the fairway.
Fairways and greens in good condition, some of the tee boxes were rugged.
Staff friendly and helpful.
A little pricey for what it is, if you can get it for 25$ to 30$, it's worth it. Too many other good courses for way less than this one.
This is a private course and community and which I live, however the management treats the residents as second class!
Okay, but slo-o-o-o-o-w
While the course was interesting and in good shape, do NOT play here if you expect to complete your round in four hours or less.
Pricey but nice...
The course is in great condition and the greens are probably the best around. Rolling fast but true if you can read them. The only negative is the price to play. If it weren't for the GolfNow opportunity the greens fees would be too steap for my wallet. Shame as this drawback forces me to play elsewhere when at times I would like to play this course which is local.
A little hidden gem
I was on my way from Orlando to Tampa and I wanted to sneak in an early round of golf. I came across Big Cypress in my search and I'm so glad I did. This course is a little gem. It's not the longest course I've played (only 6600+ yards from the black) but the approach to the greens make it challenging. Greens are great - rolls smooth and true, fairways and tee boxes are in good shape. Staff are friendly and fellow golfers will allow you to play through. Worth checking out.
