Plantation Palms Golf Club
About
Plantation Palms Golf Club, designed by David Harman, provides every Tampa golfer with a challenging and rewarding golf experience. The links-style design starts with a welcoming par 5, and then slowly steps up with a mixture of strong par 3s. Just 10 minutes north of Tampa, this course was carved a 400-acre citrus grove that slopes from west to east, providing interesting elevation changes. Water is in play on 17 of 18 holes. Plantation Palms Golf Club has an attractive framing of greens by the use of pine trees, water and large snow-white sand traps. The true-rolling elevated greens have good movement and are a challenge for golfers.

Improving to better
Course has a nice layoff , since reopening it has been looking better still needs growth in fairways & some of the greens.I give credit to the staff working to make course nicer. They are keeping prices down.
Long game and bad communication
The course had no advisory that only the first 9 how were open and this cause the pace of the game to be extremely slow. We ended up playing 9 holes and it took use 3 1/2 hours. If they only had the front nine available only to play they should advice that. This was a pleasant experience and the staff member at the pro shop register was not very friendly at all.
A Must Do
I have golfed here several times over the last two months. I love the course and will try to golf here weekly.
The course is getting there however we experienced a lot of wet spots around the greens. Some greens have bad sections
Great course
Challenging course, lots of water and trees, I will play there again.
Great value,
Got to course about a half hour early, no one lined up, were told we would have to wait and get paired up as course was very busy. Foursome behind us told us they were 5 minutes late for their tee time and had someone in the clubhouse they were waiting on and we should go ahead. Never ran into the "crowd" ahead of us and had a wonderful day.
Golf round 2/13/18
Nice course layout with a challenging back nine. The greens and fairways were in good shape. You can tell the course is still recovering after being closed until a couple of years ago. The sand bunkers are in bad shape.
Re-opened course
Since the last time I played this course it has improved ten fold. I will be back soon. Hats off to the course manager.
Challenging course
The course still has not recovered from lengthy shutdown. You can see the conditions have improved over the previous year. It is still worth playing at the discounted rate
Needs work
Course is in bad condition. Lots of weeds and bare spots in fairways. A few times in fairways, all you were hitting off of was dollar weed. Greens have large areas (2'x3') areas of sand. Whole course needs some money spent on upkeep. It could be a great course but not now.
Great Course
My husband and I try to golf this course at least once a week. Great layout, challenging, acceptable conditions and affordable.
Plantation Palms
Check in crew somewhat indifferent, no reason getting there early since you can not get a cart until 10 minutes before your tee time. Course layout nice, conditions rough though. Many lies in fairways where the ground just explodes as you hit it, chipping not much different. Greens spotty at best.
Coming along nicely
Course has improved drastically.
Fairways are tight lies, but not barren.
Greens in good shape. Bunkers bad.
Give it a try, you'll like it.
Slow, Slower & Slowest
Terrible pace of play. apparently a screw up on an earlier shotgun start delayed us by 20 min off 1st tee but still no excuse for slowness. Need to emphasis correct tees to use, remind people to play ready golf. Remove offenders. Course is a fun challenge and very close to getting back to where it used to be.
a beautiful layout
enjoyed the layout every hole was different greens were in good shape...staff was freindly
NIce Layout
Course is definitely in the improving stage. The tee boxes, fairways and greens are in pretty good shape. The grass looks good and green but a bit sparse. Greens had good speed. The rough is mostly dormant grass and weeds, so you are hitting off of sand if you miss the fairways. Gold tees need to be well under 6000 yards, maybe closer to 5,500 yards for Seniors. Red tees for Senior ladies should be under 5000 yards. or create a new set of tees for Senior ladies. The par 3's are enjoyable and challenging. Good hole variation with doglegs, some nice elevation changes, and many elevated greens. Even the straight holes offer some nice challenges. The one important problem is slow play by the players. You need to offer instructions on golf etiquette - 4 hours OR LESS for 18 holes.....could make this course really enjoyable. Make the 4 hours a rule like some courses are enforcing.... If the slow play improves, I would definitely return.
