Plantation Palms Golf Club, designed by David Harman, provides every Tampa golfer with a challenging and rewarding golf experience. The links-style design starts with a welcoming par 5, and then slowly steps up with a mixture of strong par 3s. Just 10 minutes north of Tampa, this course was carved a 400-acre citrus grove that slopes from west to east, providing interesting elevation changes. Water is in play on 17 of 18 holes. Plantation Palms Golf Club has an attractive framing of greens by the use of pine trees, water and large snow-white sand traps. The true-rolling elevated greens have good movement and are a challenge for golfers.

Great, beautiful, very challenging and excellent conditions.

Unfortunately, I was rained out after 9 holes. It was a torrential rain and I couldn't even walk to my car.

Kathy, who works in the pro shop was just wonderful! She gave me a towel and told me where I could warm up.

Every one of the staff was exceptional!

Needs work

I was told by the clubhouse staff that the course was in good condition , however the fairways are thin on grass and greens are in real need of attention. They should be good given the weather we have had but unfortunately they were rough, bumpy, and to pay fees that are what the course should charge if it was in good condition. It a shame because I really dig the course layout.

Challenging course

Challenging course. It wasn't in the condition I'm accustomed to - greens and fairways needed a little attention. Rough was yellow. Plantation Palms is usually pretty lush. Still, had a great time golfing w/ friends!

Fun Course to Play

This course is fun to play with good variety of holes . The condition was just OK with the greens quite marked up, but generally is great value for the green fee. You need to play a few times to know where to place your shot. Pace of play was very good. Definitely will return.

Good course

My first golf outing in Florida. I'm not sure what the standard is for fairway/rough/greens quality so I will compare them to home: The 'rough' or 2nd cut rolls like our fairways, the fairways roll like greens, the greens are like green painted polished concrete! I believe after much putting I might get the green speed and dynamics down. It made for a lot of 3 putts and overall putting challenge.
There is a ton of water, and warning signs for a mother aligator and her young. Though I never saw any reptiles thank goodness.

We were often worried about our pace of play because the folks behind us just seemed to keep rolling up on us. But at every tee we were waiting for the group in front of us. We eventually let two groups by. I imagine pace of play vs crowds is an issue at almost every course in Florida!!!

Overall I enjoyed my stay, and it turned out to be the better of the courses I played during my visit.

decent course

Not the greatest, not the worst. First tee was backed up 5 groups deep. Waited all day for the group in front of us, and the group behind waited for us all day. Then again, it was Sunday afternoon.

Greens were in good shape, they rolled fast but I could not get them down, very hard to read, they all look nearly flat, definitely was a putting challenge.
The tee boxes were kind of beat up on some holes, and there are no tees beyond the blue tee, which for me is fine.
The par3's were all pretty long, all about 200 +/- from the blue.

Good challenge

For the price I think this course offers more fun and challenges than similar courses in the area. The golf carts are state of the art. I will be back.

VERY FUN AND CHALLENGING

Without a doubt this is one of the hardest courses around. I never thought Plantation Palms would be difficult. If you don't hit the fairways then good luck, the fairways are smooth and easy to hit your approach shot. But if you miss fairways and hit left or right against the giant hills all over the course then it will be a long day for you. Now the course overall I would give a 8 for conditions. The food was good, the driving range was great [except for the practice greens] and each hole had a unique challenge. The only problem with this course is the people working there. The man behind the bar was very polite and so was the cart man, but the man behind th desk was extremely rude, never made eye contact, and seemed like I was bothering him. This course could be a easy 10 but NO ONE fixes their own divots which make the greens a little rough, but they greens roll true and they are fast. It just seems to me that the course is ran by people who just dont really care and it has such more potential to be a must go to colf course. ANd finally if your a decent golfer who plays ok depending on the day...DONT PLAY HERE it will be miserable for you. The greens are smaller and tight so play safe and have fun and overall I would play here again, but without the main staff.

WIndy day.

Played Sunday afternno with Hotdeal. Previous review are accurate for tees somewhat beat up, fairways tightlies and greens a little patchy but overall I thought the course was fine. Areas around greens had either mid length rough or virtually no grass. Course layout was very challenging especially with the windy conditions. I'll probbly play again due the course layout.

It Was A Great Day

A few fairways were spotty, but the greens were great - good speed and rolled very true. Some holes are quite challenging and the others are a fair test for all levels.

nice course

this course has some really tough holes on it, 9, 12, 14 and 18 are extremely hard for the average golfer. I really like the course but it's slow play in the winter, the carts are equipped with GPS and coolers with ice & water in them.

great course

this was by far the best value I have found this season. the course was very well maintained and in great shape. quite crowded, but pace was excellent.

did leave a gps on the cart and never got it returned, but that has nothing to do with course conditions .
Little disappointed that it did not get turned in, but oh well my bad
