Plantation Palms Golf Club
About
Plantation Palms Golf Club, designed by David Harman, provides every Tampa golfer with a challenging and rewarding golf experience. The links-style design starts with a welcoming par 5, and then slowly steps up with a mixture of strong par 3s. Just 10 minutes north of Tampa, this course was carved a 400-acre citrus grove that slopes from west to east, providing interesting elevation changes. Water is in play on 17 of 18 holes. Plantation Palms Golf Club has an attractive framing of greens by the use of pine trees, water and large snow-white sand traps. The true-rolling elevated greens have good movement and are a challenge for golfers.

Great Course
Friendly staff and a great course in almost perfect condition.
Fun 9
Front 9 in good shape and pretty fast play without a rush from behind.
They wouldn’t allow me to play
They wouldn’t allow me to play due to a scheduled golf outing. Don’t understand why GN took my tee time. Showed up and was turned away. I’m done with your company
Tough course for first time
Course is fair but tough for a first time there good thing i played with experienced people who have played there
If it were a little closer, I'd go more often
I got paired up with an experienced older gentleman and a young dude that was new to game. They were very pleasant to be with on an otherwise quiet peaceful round. The layout is not like I remembered it being the last time I played. What this course has going for it mostly is that it's got all the "right stuff", the practice areas, auto ball dispenser, a putt putt area, chipping area, clean restrooms, great staff and pricing that is sensible, and carts that are in good condition. The fairways were great and the greens really fast on this day. I have no bad things to say about it and want to get out there again soon.
We’ll be back
This was our first time playing this course. I feel it’s a course that you need to play a few times before you’re going to score well. There are a few par fours that require a layup off the tee. The more you play it, the better you’re going to position your your tee shots.
Greens putted a lot better than they looked. Greens have a lot of grain. Rough is long Bermuda.
Only negative we had was the GPS in our cart screwed up a couple times thinking we were in a restricted area. ( we were on the cart path twice when it did it. One hole we couldn’t get past the center of the fairway to the right side because the GPS said we entered a restricted area. Got in a few extra steps walking to our ball with a few clubs and rangefinder.
Always a fun, challenging course.
I play Plantation Palms 4-5 times a year and the course seems to have improved some each time. The course has a mix of challenging and straight forward holes. It is in good condition and has recovered nicely from the heavy rains and winds of the two recent hurricanes. It definitely seems to have faired better than some other local corses. The staff has always been polite and helpful. The fairways were in good condition, they are fairly wide but if you miss the fairway, the rough can be tough. It was hard to find your ball in some spots. The greens were very nice. The back nine seemed to hold approach shots better than the front, but they all rolled nice and were pretty fast. There were only a few ball marks on the greens that were not repaired but most seemed to be freshly made earlier that day. It appears the staff is making an effort to keep the greens repaired and in good condition.
Rude staff
Overall course is in good shape and fun track. We had a bad experience with a guy in golf cart. It was a big bald guy who was on a power trip. We paid for two golfers and were allowed to go out with just us per ranger. On the 4th hole he approached us in a very unprofessional manner saying we needed to wait for the two some behind us bc there has to be 4 on every hole. First I’ve ever heard that especially with the group in front of us cancelling there tee time. Keep in mind it was almost 1pm. There was two behind us and a group of four walking behind them which they wouldn’t keep up with carts anyways. After telling the guy I wanted to play with my son and myself he said then you need to pay for all four spots followed up by I run this show. Needless to say we paired up and it was an older couple and the lady had to hit 3 times before I got to my tee shot. Long story short paid for 18 and left after 9 because we could no longer enjoy fathers and son time bc some guy on a power trip.
Just Meh
I don’t want to sound overly negative but there just wasn’t anything special about the course. It is a public course that is heavily played. The driving range was packed at noon. The greens were nice but plenty of ball marks that went unrepaired. It isn’t a terrible course but just nothing special about it.
Sunday round
Great course good price, pace was super slow never saw a ranger either but it was expected on a Sunday after two bad weekends of weather.
Course is decent shape form just having a hurricane, green were fast.
Overpriced
It took over 5 hours to complete the round. Group ahead was playing from the blue tees and rarely hit anything straight. Many times they were driving 50-60 yards up to hit again a ranger should’ve been out there telling them to pick up the pace. We waitress at least 5-10 minutes at the tee box on every hole. None of us played well, and we were teeing off with the group behind us watching on every single hole.
Also, at $60-70 per round, I wouldn’t have expected to see the greens completely full of divots. I don’t think a single person fixes them. It’s extremely irritating when you can’t get a true roll on any hole. The fairways were fine but the rough was pretty long and difficult to find the ball, even only 5 feet off the fairway.
