The Club at Venetian Bay is part of a unique residential community with a Mediterranean theme. Colorful buildings, mosaics, and Mediterranean vegetation surround the championship golf course. The biggest challenge for the designers was transforming what was formerly a cow pasture into a lush, challenging course. The design team of Clifton, Ezell, and Clifton seemed to have little trouble doing so. The front nine plays through the woods while the back nine is more open with a few links-style touches. The most prominent feature of this golf course is the abundance of sand bunkers. There are more than 100 strategically placed throughout. The bunkers present a formidable test but they are nicely balanced with ample landing areas. They are also geared more towards low handicappers, which means they aren't intended to kill your round.

Major improvements since my last trip

I haven’t played this course in a while and found many improvements have been made since my last visit. Cart paths have been established throughout the course, greens and tee boxes are in great shape as well as the fairways. Staff seem to be very accommodating and the starter got me off by myself this morning before the a.m. “rush.” I also noticed the deck outside the restaurant has been expanded. This course is in the best shape it’s been in in years and I would definitely recommend playing it.

Great Course Layout

Other than the greens being bumpy and sandy from prior maintenance, the course played very well. I loved the course layout and enjoyed the round. But I wouldn't play this course again until the greens heal. They were very inconsistent. Overall, great track and the staff was outstanding!!

Great Day on the Course

Enjoyed the day on the course. Course was dry due to a lack of rain in the area for several days. They were watering the course but still needed more water. A couple of greens had bad turf around the edges. Course was in the best shape that I have seen it in a while.
