The Club at Venetian Bay

About
The Club at Venetian Bay is part of a unique residential community with a Mediterranean theme. Colorful buildings, mosaics, and Mediterranean vegetation surround the championship golf course. The biggest challenge for the designers was transforming what was formerly a cow pasture into a lush, challenging course. The design team of Clifton, Ezell, and Clifton seemed to have little trouble doing so. The front nine plays through the woods while the back nine is more open with a few links-style touches. The most prominent feature of this golf course is the abundance of sand bunkers. There are more than 100 strategically placed throughout. The bunkers present a formidable test but they are nicely balanced with ample landing areas. They are also geared more towards low handicappers, which means they aren't intended to kill your round.

Course is good considering no rain. Fast greens. Really slow play. Mostly caused by golfers playing wrong tee boxes. Everyone thinks they drive the ball 250 yards. Guess again.
Parched
Great staff and amenities. Starter was accommodating to us as my son is a beginner. Like most courses in the area, the course is DRY. Greens need a lot of help. Slightly overpriced but fun to play.
Greens are terrible!!
What is going on with the greens at Venetian Bay?
This used to be one of my favorite courses in the area…but their greens are terrible…I don’t play again, until I know the greens are improved!!
Slow
Waited on every hole, no ranger. Almost 5 hour round.
When I checked in the guy at the counter was making gift cards for winners of something and never acknowledged that I was there until he was done writing them out and ringing them up. So much for waiting on a customer at the counter!
Disappointed
Several people told us to try this course. It was one of their favorites. We were disappointed. Fairways decent although we expected more grass. Only difference between the fairways and the rough are the weeds and trees. The greens had little turfs of grass growing on it which made your ball putt as if it were a giant pinball machine. The layout was average. This course did challenge you with its water and sand traps. The personnel were great! Very friendly. Now I think back a couple of years ago when we ran into a foursome at another area course and they told us they lived at the Venetian Bay but liked the course we were playing better. I always wondered why since, but never pulled the plug until it was recommended. Again, disappointed...
Good day
It is dry on the tee boxes and fare ways. They are keeping greens good!! We need rain!! Not the courses fault, just dry. Great course for a good price. High price maybe wait till summer rates!!
Needs a little rejuvenating
We always enjoy playing a a round or two. The kast two outings the greens were hit or miss. There are many little grass pops. It can be difficult to make a putt, especially if you are out a distance from the hole. Seems some of the fairways are having the same issues however a little bit bigger grass pops. We were told they will be redoing all the greens, have course at a time. Can’t wait. Hopefully while the greens are being restored a couple of the fairways may get a touch up. The course is a great run. We enjoy playing here and will continue, maybe a little less once we see how they will restore the greens. Thank you.
Great course layout, poorly maintained
Tee boxes, fairways, greens all need serious attention to bring course back to what locals remember…
Good course, spread out, fun.
The course is good, a couple of rough patches, t-boxes, greens have invading weeds makes for bumpy putting. Overall good, holes are spread out through a development, lots of water and some blind shots.
First time playing course
The course was in good condition and the cost was reasonable for 18 holes with a cart. Greens were mostly in good condition and fairways were better than average shape with a few tee boxes needing some upgrading. Staff was friendly and amenities were good. I will be back to play the course again
Gone down hill
This course two years ago was the best course in the area for the money.
Greens. Some okay, some with dead spots, others with obvious weeds growing into them impacting ball trajectory during putts
Fairways: Not good.. a lot of weeds. Not clean fairways.
Hazards: sand was fine but around sand traps expect to still be hitting it out of sand weeds
Tee boxes: many of them were in terrible condition off the whites. I think maybe hole 14/15 had the best tee boxes but wow. Move the box more regularly so we are not teeing off out of dirt craters.
I think our golf cart went 8mph the slowest cart I’ve ever driven.. pace of play after 4:30 was terribly slow with groups in front of us that would not let us pass. I do enjoy the mini screen they have for the cart.
I’d recommend cypress, fly in, or LPGA before Venetian. I’d be seriously concerned with the state of the golf course compared to two years ago if I owned in this community.
Great and challenging course
Very good time today. First-time player here, visiting a friend at Venetian Bay, and had a great time. Single paired with a double member, and another single. Dean/Tanna (hope spelling is correct) and Don were great to play with. Course was well-maintained, bunkers were immaculate. A couple in-repair areas may warrant 4 stars, but I felt the overall deserved the 5. Challenging for a 32 handicapper (me), but definitely improved my game. Staff, Pro Shop, etc al so very customer service oriented and nice. I may skip the beach and go back tomorrow.
Steadily good Venetian
Always one of the better courses in the area - definitely a bargain at 48 bucks but that was a Hot Deal price. Under 4 hours to play in a foursome
Everything is finally starting to grow!
Grass finally growing in the fairways, greens looked good, some patchy spots, but overall good conditions.
Everyone could use some rain!
