The Club at Venetian Bay

Arguably one of the best-valued courses in the New Smyrna/Port Orange/Daytona Beach area. The course is always in great shape, the staff is always friendly, and tee times are always available.

The course itself is player-friendly, challenging on some holes, and well maintained.

I know they’ll be aerating greens this month, but I’m sure they’ll have everything in tip top shape soon thereafter.

We played just before they punched greens.

It had rained heavily the day before so water in bunkers…so we just raked bunker and placed ball but course had drained well with no problems.

Great place to play. Friendly staff. Greens a little slow. Reasonably priced.

Played here in February and again in May. February conditions were great and maybe due to lack of rain the conditions seem to have gotten substantially worse. Greens and tee boxes were ok but fairways and rough need a lot of work.

I've always liked the course layout at VB but it's in lousy shape. The greens were shaggy and bumpy. Difficult to putt bumpy. Greens had bare dirt patches. Traps were eroded from rains or had standing water in them (we fished out four or five golf balls from one trap). Fairways had been recently aerated which added to the fun. Weeds and grass growing makes the course look unkempt. Course maintenance worker sat in our line of play with no regard to moving.

Played this weekend and I have to say the vibes at this play are amazing. From the second I parked my truck I was met by a great gentleman Yaz who brought my cart right to my truck. Very friendly staff who explained every aspect of the course and club house lay out. We got some great food at the club house before the round. The golf course was open and the pace of play was exactly as you would want it ! Only gripe would be the bunkers but let’s be honest, I wasn’t mad when I got relief from the bunkers. Overall the club is a great place to play with your buddies. We will be making this our go to course for the area!

Course shape is OK. The greens have a lot of Poana in them.

when discussing going there with someone, I was warned to not be fooled by the uptick in price over the last year and the increase in people playing there, which lead me to believe that the course would be at least in the condition that it was a few years ago. I was told that this course was sadly another one of the far too many golf courses in central Florida where the bar of expectations is set really low. I don’t put all the blame on the courses. The people need to force that bar up a lot higher. After arriving and going to the practice area, my first thought was ugh. Bumpy weeds everywhere. I love playing golf, but it has been a massive disappointment trying out these courses in central Florida. Even the private courses leave a lot to be desired. Pace of play is another problem. Although you sometimes have the problem of those who are in front of you playing as if its a qualifier for the next major, incredibly slow, the usual problem are the inconsiderate ones behind you who are not interested in how well they play, its how fast they can play. You would think that we are not in Florida instead in Siberia. Then it would make sense how you would want to 18 holes in an hour and a half.
