About
The beautifully manicured, par-72 Renaissance Golf Course features two distinctive nines. The front nine has an open links feel to it with wide fairways and greens that will accept bump-and-run approach shots. The back nine requires more accuracy from tee to green as it meanders through a large conservation area. Water comes into play on every hole on the inward nine on this course designed by Chip Powell. Most fairways are lined with stately pines and ancient oaks. The greens at the Renaissance Golf Club are a pleasure to putt. These TifEagle Bermuda grass putting surfaces are state-of-the-art and roll fast.

Golfer Reviews
Oh no not again
Waited a year to play it a second time and no I remember why: once again we had "members cut in between 2 twosomes on the 4th hole. Most inconsiderate members we have ever experienced... multiple times now. We had no choice but to hit up on them several times to make the point.... and they were bad. Pace of play went from 3.5 to almost 5. We will never be back.
Not Worth It
For $65 i expect more. Course doesn't have a driving range , although 'game improvement' area is listed on their website. we played in the morning and greens were very poor. Lots of poa annua on greens that made them very bumpy. course layout was also poor, as several tee shots were blind carries over brush and wetland areas. We were also hit into several times because of the blind tee shots, almost getting hit on one occasion. Overall not worth the money and expectations not met.

"We WILL NOT accommodate your tee time." - Club Renaissance
So I flew down to Tampa from Columbus for a weekend golf trip with my brother. He was already in Tampa for work, so I flew down for his weekend off so we could play 72 holes over the weekend. I booked us a Saturday Morning (8:33am) tee time after reading the reviews of this course here on Golf Advisor. (I also booked an afternoon TT at a course 20 minutes down the road from CR.)
At 7:30am as we're walking out of the hotel room door, I get a call from the GolfNow 800 number. The course cancelled our tee time. I tried to call back the agent that left the voice mail, but the golf now lines didn't open until 8:00am. In the mean time, while waiting to speak to golf now, I called the course directly to find out what the heck was going on. I was told that my tee time "WILL NOT not be accommodated". NOT, that it 'could not, or cannot be' but that it WOULD NOT be. My tee time at Club Renaissance was booked on Wednesday, March 2. So there was plenty of time to figure out if there was some kind of mistake in what they made available on golfNow, and plenty of time to set something else up. Instead, they waited until 1 hour before the tee time to call and cancel the tt.
Well, you can imagine, trying to find an alternative decent course on a Saturday morning in Florida in March. We were able to find a different course, although it was was dog-track. It was also 90 minutes from the afternoon course, so we had to cancel that tee time as well, as we wouldn't have made it from north of clearwater to SE of bradenton in time make the Tee Time.
I'd simply just avoid booking a tee time at Club Renaissance, were I you, reading this. There dozens of great courses all around the Tampa Bay area that won't cancel your tee time 1 hour before you're all set to play. If you're planning some type of golf trip, you can't afford to gamble on this course. Just book one at a different course. You'll play on time, and your entire first day of your golf trip won't leave you irritated for the rest of the weekend.

This is not what we like to hear. Please email us with further details at ClubRenaissance72@gmail.com so we can make this right.
Thank you.

I'm amazed that you got a booking for a Saturday morning tee time and not surprised that it was cancelled as the course holds a shot-gun start for its members every Saturday. The earliest you could get on would have been 12:48.
Not So Good
I was not impressed with this golf course, at all. First, although understandably the dormant time of the year, the fairways were in mediocre shape (even though over seeded) and the greens, although fast, were full of Poana. They were dry, hard, and could have used some water. The sand traps were not well cared for. The golf cart had a defective strap and my clubs fell off twice, damaging some of them. I'm sorry to say that I was very disappointed.
Douglas,
This is not good to hear. We apologize about your experience with us. Please send us an email at ClubRenaissance72@gmail.com so we can chat about how to make this right. Again, we apologize and hope we can see you again soon to provide a better golf course experience.

A variety of hole layouts
Despite the wind, we had an enjoyable round. The holes had interesting features and offered a variety of layouts. The bunkers could use additional sand. The greens were lightning fast, did not hold and the pin placements were challenging.
DarleneW,
Nice to hear you had an enjoyable round! We have noted your comment about additional sand as we take all of our comments very seriously. We want to provide the best golfing experience in the area and we hope that your next visit to us results in a 5-star rating! We hope to see you soon and thanks again for the kind words.

Nice Tract
The lady in the clubhouse (Joann) was very unfriendly.
Dealing with that prior to playing golf is not much fun.
The course is fun and challenging.
Very Enjoyable Rounds
My sons and I headed out for an afternoon round of golf after finding what I thought was a good deal via golfnow. Having played clublink courses back home we were hoping for a winner. The experience was very enjoyable. Course was fair and scenic and provided a good challenge. The greens were very good and rolled much better than a few other places we had played. Staff were all very helpful and friendly! I would definitely return!
Very nice resort course.
Mostly wide open with some tighter holes but very fair and fun off the tee. Greens rolled quick and were in very nice condition. Probably a 10 or so on the stimp. Challenging enough for all players. I am a 7 handicap and shot 78 from the back tees paired with an 18 yr old bomber. I am 51. Great course overall. Very scenic with lots of really nice homes surrounding the course. Generous off the tee for the most part but still need to hit it pretty straight. Have fun.
Course is nice but pace of play is slow
Course always looks great. But the pace of play is very much slow. I have played Renaissance before and twice this Christmas vacation both times very slow pace. It is a mixed bag for me beautiful course but slow pace of play brings it down for me. If you don't want to have to go set in the restaurant and add more time to your day bring your own food and drinks. They have plenty of ice station on the course to get a fresh cup of ice but they do not sell drinks at the pro shop maybe the restaurant has some but I do not like long breaks between the front and back 9 but that's just me
Excellent Greens
Played on a Sunday afternoon and one of the last to go out. They seem to have limited services for F&B service for golfers and more for the members. Overall the course I thought was in excellent condition and the best course in the Sun City area.
Diverse layout in Southeast Hillsborough County
Club Renaissance is a moderately-priced, very good course. Each hole is different with much water, but only 2-3 holes in which it comes into play. Greens are average-speed, and many trees. An extremely pleasant experience, and worth the drive. Attentive staff.
Nice golf course
Fun to play with water in almost every hole. Golf course in good shape. Staff members are friendly.
Enjoyable
One of my favorite courses in Florida. 4or5 years ago we played several times a winter getting specials off emails. I enjoyed my round Tuesday thank you for posting on golf now.
Nice experience
Staff is welcoming. Course has a good design, is in very good condition and the greens were a pleasure to putt. Very generous off the tee with greens accessible enough to make play fun. Range is a 10 minute cart ride away at a sister course, so get there early if you want a relaxing warm up.
Great course, think your way around.
Lots of sets of tees - something for every calibre of golfer. Fairways in great condition and the greens are fast and tricky but fair.
Very Good
Course had a few rough spots but you can expect that this time of year prior to overseeding. Fun layout with enough twists and turns to keep it interesting. No beverage cart but there were ice machines and water on the course. As always the staff was friendly and professional.
One of the Best
My wife and I both had an enjoyable day. The staff are very friendly and helpful. The course is in great shape, fairways are lush and the greens are fast. One of the best courses in the area. Didn't get a chance to try the restaurant, maybe next time.
Greens need a little more TLC
Course was in good condition and offered a fair test for all the golfers in our group (handicaps of 8 to 18),
t2gren,
