Situated amongst the foothills of the San Gorgonio and San Jacinto Mountains, Morongo Golf Club at Tukwet Canyon boasts 36 holes of scenic championship golf. The two courses, the Champions and the Legends, are some of the area's most popular. The older Champions Course is host to the PGA Tour Q-School and it is a Nationwide Tour Qualifier. It is such a popular tournament location that it is known as the "home of the Southern California PGA." The Champions is a challenging but playable layout with tight fairways and numerous steep-lipped bunkers strategically placed throughout. There is also thick, treacherous rough that will swallow any errant shots. Also included in your tee time is unlimited use of the practice facilities, which include an all-grass driving range as well as chipping and putting greens.

What happened to this course

I have played this course several times. We have even had the Stater Brothers annual tournament here a few times and the course was in exceptional condition. I don't know what happened here to this course but it was in terrible condition. The tea boxes were terrible the Fairway was the worst I've ever seen it and the greens were not well taken care of at all. This is one of the courses that I recommend to other people the most however I will not be doing so going forward until I see that the changes have been corrected. Sorry to post a negative report but I have to be realistic to those that are spending their hard-earned money to play around the golf. I paid $65 each for my foursome and none of us were happy with the conditions

Nice Golf Course

This is a nice golf course and course design. The fairways are in good shape, but the greens and bunkers not so good.

The greens were being aerated with sand on the greens. I’m sure once the greens are in shape it’s better. This was on the Champion side of the course.

The amenities on the country club starting with the bar and grill closes too early. The bar & grill and golf gift shop closes every day at 4 PM.

Golfen old lady

Condition of the course deteriorating:

Many areas on the fairways with water and mud.

Many of the bunker with standing water and mud.

Ruts in the tee boxes.

Greens were OK, wish people would repair their ball marks.

Poor conditioning and pace

Puddles in most bunkers and low grass areas. Poor conditioning with dry dead or wet muddy areas. No marshals or staff anywhere to regulate players or assist. No one seems to care. No food stand. No beverage cart. Slow pace and a free for all. It's the wild wild west of golf. The only thing decent is the layout.

Disappointed

I played this course in May of 2023 and it was in pristine condition. This time, not so much. There was a lot of crabgrass and bare spots in the fairways and on the tee boxes. A majority of the greens were in rough shape. I think before playing a course all players need to get a lesson in repairing ball marks. Even if there was a miracle and someone fixed a ball mark, it was done incorrectly. Lastly, my wife was with me trying to play for the first time since her 9th surgery on her right knee. I mentioned this in the pro shop and he said it would be taken care of when I picked up my golf cart. When I picked up the golf cart I mentioned it the man there and he said we would be all set. I figured we would be able to take the cart closer to the green so my wife would be able to get to her ball with using her cane. Well, that did not happen!!! Normal distances from everything. My wife only lasted two holes. This really upsets me because I know she was in pain and I paid for both of us to play 18 holes. Also, she fell coming off of the second green because she tripped in one of the million ground squirrel holes. I am very disappointed!!!

Fun course

Fun course to play. My round was in July, so it was hot out. Course is well maintained, the greens were not too fast and in good shape. Great place to play for the average golfer off the white tees. The back tees would be a good challenge for the better golfers.

It could be better

I play this course often and it’s a great layout and it’s hard. All great. The bunkers aren't maintained and the course is littered with high handicappers who should not be on the course. Just be aware before you play.

Good but very hot.

Great course. One player in our foursome was unable to make it due to being sick. Hoping I can get the $$ money returned or be allowed to use it for another day.
