Situated amongst the foothills of the San Gorgonio and San Jacinto Mountains, Morongo Golf Club at Tukwet Canyon boasts 36 holes of scenic championship golf. The two courses, the Champions and the Legends, are some of the area's most popular. The older Champions Course is host to the PGA Tour Q-School and it is a Nationwide Tour Qualifier. It is such a popular tournament location that it is known as the "home of the Southern California PGA." The Champions is a challenging but playable layout with tight fairways and numerous steep-lipped bunkers strategically placed throughout. There is also thick, treacherous rough that will swallow any errant shots. Also included in your tee time is unlimited use of the practice facilities, which include an all-grass driving range as well as chipping and putting greens.

xlnt course

3 issues - 1. hard sand in a lot of traps 2. greens not as pristine like the rest of the course 3. course is hard enough without having very difficult pen placements especially for the average golfer

PAINFULLY SLOW

Slowest round ever! 3 hours 45 minutes to play 9 holes!! Ridiculously slow had up to 4 groups on tee boxes waiting to tee off and usually at least 3 groups! Just unbelievable!!

No Marshalls anywhere the whole 9 holes!

Gave up after 9 holes; even called clubhouse to try to get help…no luck

Doubtful I will return; would rather pay more somewhere else to get better pace of play

What happened ?

I had not played this course in ten years and I was excited to introduce it to a group of golfing friends. With all the rain in the past few months I expected to find the course in great shape. Much to my disappointment the course has not been maintained very well in particular the bunkers have no sand in them, only dirt and rocks. The greens which are well designed with multiple levels needed attention. The only saving grace were the fairways which were is very good condition. This course is well designed and deserves better care. Also no food available in the club house and only saw the cart girl once on the 14th hole. Come on Morongo, you can do better.

Great rate for twilight

Our tee time was 1:32pm, paid $35.

There was a twosome ahead of us and a foursome ahead of them.

We had to wait at every tee box.

Other than that the course was in good shape.

Gps on the carts

All-in-all, it was a good round.

We will play here again

Great layout. Tee to green very good. Greens are tough.

We lucked out and had very little wind. This course is a bear in the wind.

This is our go to course for playing a penalizing course. Desert shrub everywhere just a few steps from the fairway. It's not an unfair setup... You just pay for any shot a bit wide. Tough green complexes and impossible sand saves.

Only big complaint are the concrete like and rock filled bunkers. Practice bunker shots off your driveway or concrete patio flooring. Was in 3 bunkers. Easily cost me 2-3 strokes with no chance of up and down (got lucky once where ball in bunker was on top of a rock and I could get a wedge under it).

Good Bye Golfnow

A few months ago, we purchased a t-time in Florida. I found out later it was cheaper to just reserve a time directly with the course. Upon canceling the time with Golf Now, they gave me a credit. I belong to a Country Club in SoCal, so I don't use Golf Now, but figured sooner or later I would. A couple of months passed and I received a email from GN, stating I had 6 months from cancellation to use the credit, in which was in excess of $250.00. Not only that, it had to be used on "Hot Deals".

Needless to say, we did Morongo Championship course. The earliest time we could get was 12:04. As of right now, I don't believe I'll use Golf Now again!!

What happened

I brought a group of friends here to play the Champions course as I have played this course about 5 or 6 times around 10 years ago. It used to be in far better shape. The bunkers were the worst part, more like a gravel pits. No sand to speak of. In the bunkers. The driving range is in very poor condition. The course has possibly the best layout of any course in the inland empire. So sad it see it being neglected.

Pace of play

I've played golf hundreds of times, if not over a thousand and I've never played so slow in my life. We teed off at 1:30 and quit at 5 hours (6:30) on the 16th tee. Wasn't worth it!

Great mountain views, tough course for me

I'm a hacker who shoots about 100. There are dozens of bunkers on this course, and I am a poor sand player. I went in 2 or 3 because of terrible shots, and another 2 or 3 times was a bit unlucky. There are a few blind tee shots that are tricky the first time around the course. Multiple greens have traps on 3 sides, which is tough for a hacker. Most of my tee shots were decent but I picked the wrong day to struggle with the irons and approach shots. Next time I play it, I'll take one LESS club on my approach shots, play short of the green, and try to get up and down from the fairway in front of the green instead of risking the green side traps. Greens were in very good condition but I had a hard time with the speed, and several holes were cut right on a ridge that made it hard to lag close.

One last thing--we drove over from Palm Springs and it was 15 degrees cooler in Beaumont! That surprised me, so be prepared for wind and the temps on the course.

Everything, but the bunkers

The bunkers are horrible, no sand whatsoever. The rest of the course was in very good shape. Greens were super-fast and held for the most part. I had five shots outta the bunkers that cost me 9.
