Morongo Golf Club at Tukwet Canyon - Champions Course
About
Situated amongst the foothills of the San Gorgonio and San Jacinto Mountains, Morongo Golf Club at Tukwet Canyon boasts 36 holes of scenic championship golf. The two courses, the Champions and the Legends, are some of the area's most popular. The older Champions Course is host to the PGA Tour Q-School and it is a Nationwide Tour Qualifier. It is such a popular tournament location that it is known as the "home of the Southern California PGA." The Champions is a challenging but playable layout with tight fairways and numerous steep-lipped bunkers strategically placed throughout. There is also thick, treacherous rough that will swallow any errant shots. Also included in your tee time is unlimited use of the practice facilities, which include an all-grass driving range as well as chipping and putting greens.

Legends is far from Legendary
This course has been closed for months, but it doesn’t look very maintained. Bunkers had large weeds growing out of them. Fairways were muddy in areas. Greens looked spotty in areas. One hole is being reconstructed still. Very disappointing for a facility that has been better in the past.
Staff service
Whether it's Marshall or an employee, the customer response attitude is very unfriendly.
Could be better if management improved.
Was refused to add one player for fivesome group at 2:00pm, but actually it was fivesome group in front of us, the front group played very slow with training a young boy, we had to Wait for 5 minutes at least prior to every stroke. It took 2 hours to finished the first 4 holes. Call to clubhouse to complaint but it doesn’t help.
In the rear 9 holes, tons of player pass through us when we were playing. This is a not bad course but with Very bad experience.
Great Course Conditions
The course is in good condition. The Bunkers need more sand in them.
Raincheck?
It was pouring rain. I requested a rain check, and the 2 guys in the pro shop explained I shouldn't have booked a discount time on GolfNow, they couldn't help, and to call GolfNow. The GolfNow staff was great, told me they just needed to call the pro shop to confirm the conditions and they'd issue the refund. They called the course 4-5 times over more than an hour, while I was on hold (I left the course to drive to Palm Springs). Neither guy working in the pro shop answered the phone to confirm the conditions. Unfortunately, it looks like no refund for me.. TUKWET, ANSWER YOUR PHONE
Good for a nice round with wife
Had a very joyful day. Playing golf with my spouse. Track is fair and weather was prefect.
Decent golf course, but terrible pace of play
This is the first time playing the Champion course at Tukwet Canyon, and my first impression was that it was a really nice golf course. It was somewhat longer than what I'm used to and the course conditions were decent. Greens were a bit fast, but they were green and not brown. The tee box and fairways were in decent condition as well. However, every bunker was filled with water (since it rained all week). But this has nothing to do with the course itself as you can't control the weather. So if a ball lands in the bunker, you just need to fish it out with the rake, and play the ball behind it. But the only reason for the 3 out of 5 stars has 100% to do with the pace of play. I booked a Sunday afternoon tee time and I understood that based on the layout and being a weekend the pace may be a bit slower than normal. I spoke to the marshall at the first tee and he even warned me that typically play is slow on this golf course. I am used to a 4 to 4.5 hour round so I was expecting somewhere in the ballpark of 4.5 to 5 hours. After playing the front 9 I could not believe that 3 hours and 15 minutes had already passed! This is just insane and have never played a round this long before in my life. We were on pace for a 6 hour, 30 minute round!! There was no marshall on the course trying to speed up play, so once you teed off on #1 you were essentially on your own. So if you don't mind sitting around at every hole, then I would recommend playing this course since it is a nice layout with some challenging holes. But if your time is valuable to you, then I would either skip or play a really early round before the crowds come in (*By the way, by the time I hit the 5 hour, 30 minute mark, I called it quits. We just wrapped up #15 and was just done waiting at that time. I would have really liked to play the last 3 holes, but it wasn't really worth the additional hour wait. You lose your rhythm when you have to wait after every shot).
